Overtaking Realism

Recommended Posts

Shpuld we get the 'Push to Pass' button as a patch update and make overtakes more realistic than the epic speed differentiation when slipstreaming?

Passing too easy with speed difference being too high, P2P needs to have charge and be used accordingly, slipstream effect to be less on straights without the additional boost from KERS?

Push to Pass is unlikely to be implemented now as the ERS sim isn't exactly implemented yet. Maybe if that is there in 2017, that could come into play. But the slipstream will be much more effective in real life next year since downforce is higher, so drag is too. So there is more drag to lose. So basically, for now, all they can do is decrease slipstream effects by like 25% and increase dirty air effects by like 10%.

I don't think there is a problem with the slip stream itself, whats a problem is we are getting all the benefits it gives and not getting the side effects it causes such as arrow wash. We should be hating and avoiding being behind another car instead of trying to get behind a car for a advantage. The DRS is what is suppose to be giving the advantage.  Also the "button" you see drivers pushing now isn't exactly a push to pass button as in dumping the energy for more power. It simply changes the engine mapping for that time to provide more power to make a pass with.

I agree with the aero washout, being able to follow close without any aero penalty kind of defeats the physics.

I find I can still pass cars without opening DRS , even at Monza for instance can still push 360kph by end of main straight with DRS closed and pass the car infront. Not realistic at all.

If we had the button and a more realistic drs/slip would make the car modelling in straight lines much much better. Being able to pass a Mercedes in a TR in a straight line isn't right
