Patch News - v1.7.0

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I wanted to try this to see if people feel it's an improvement to the way we communicate the status of upcoming patches.

The next patch will be v1.7.0 and will be released on all platforms. We're skipping 1.6 on PS4 and Xbox One because with hindsight making our version number different to Sony's version number on PS4 just caused confusion. Getting all platforms on to the same version should also be clearer for you all too I hope.

Patch Notes
  • Added the Master difficulty option to bridge the gap between Expert and Legend.
  • Added the Master difficulty option when starting a new Career and Championship Season. - New for v1.7.0
  • Changed the tyre rules so the tyre you start the race on counts as a mandatory for the race.
  • Falling too far behind penalties will no longer be given after being told to overtake the Safety Car.
  • Corrected a few translation issues.
  • Fixed a bug that could occasionally cause race sessions to never end.
  • Fixed a bug that could give players who rejoin a multiplayer session the wrong tyres. - New for v1.7.0
  • All cars now use the same gearbox when playing with Equal Performance. - New for v1.7.0
  • Nvidia Scalable Link Interface (SLI) performance improvements. - New for v1.7.0
  • Fixed a number of crash bugs.

PC: Live.
PS4: QA approved, sent to Sony.
Xbox One: QA approved, sent to Microsoft.

I'm going to keep this sticky thread closed so the relevant information is clear for everyone but you can discuss it here.

Mandatory tyre rule clarification

We have been in discussion with Pirelli regarding the tyre compounds and the regulations surrounding mandatory sets. Essentially, each car has to run at least one lap on a mandatory compound, and it doesn’t matter if this is a set that was used in qualifying. This means that, so long as you start on one of the mandatory sets, you can one stop onto the other without a penalty. Not only has this change made the tyre rules easier to understand, but has also brought it more in line with the current regulations.

The PS4 patch has been approved internally and sent for submission with Sony. We anticipate the submission taking a number of days for this patch so do not expect to be able to release it until the middle of next week, around the 19th October. There is also the chance that Sony will find a problem and not approve the patch too.

The Xbox One patch has been approved internally and send for submission with Microsoft. The submission takes place in the US and normally takes three working days. We'll update you when we hear back with the result.

We're still waiting for the decision from Microsoft. They do their testing in America and will not finish their testing until the end of their working day today at the earliest so we've been in touch to ask that if and when it passes that they release it. All being well it will go live late tonight / early tomorrow morning UK time but there is always the chance they will fail or they need more time.
