AI ability - feedback

Recommended Posts

So I've been playing f1 series for years now, I like it and for a true racing sim it satisfies my needs without going balls deep in a PC setup.

I lived the glory days of Geoff Crammons Grand Prix 2, and still rate that as one of the greatest f1 games of all time. Anyway.

So the AI, considerably better than what it used to be, excellent, but have come across some strange nuances with 2016;

1. AI in practice are more aggressive than in the race. They challenge corners, defend lines, push you off track. What gives its free practice??
2. As above in Quali.
3. Don't give racing room, 2 wide into a corner guaranteed contact.
4. Race start, without fail if you don't have a car length once moving the car behind will run into the back of car.
5. Similar to point 4, AI behind on straight the get slipstream or DRS they don't drive around they drive into you.

I get there are always little niggles, no stress it doesn't completely ruin the experience. Just throwing some feedback of gameplay.

Cheers

Yeah the first lap or two, they are strangely complacent. I guess maybe Codies thought it'd be easier to just neuter them for the first couple of laps to prevent carnage, than to do a specific AI model for the first laps (I mean drivers really do drive differently for the first two before settling into fuel/tyre conserve mode). As for point 5, I've yet to experience that. I've had a Sauber rear-end me once but I was on slicks in a wet track and I was considerably slower.

Totally agree with point 1. The AI always screw up my quali runs/tyre management runs since they either go too slowly and defend against you, or they dive bomb me into a corner where I'm going slower to look after my tires.

I don't think they're defending, they're moving off the racing line. If you stay on the racing line you should be ok. You just have to trust they will move (normally very late).
