F1 2016 PC - 1.6.0 - Safety Car lets everyone pass for no obvious reason (04:00)

Recommended Posts

Idk if its a known bug - here some footage from start till safety car comes in (End of Lap 5)
Bug occurs at 04:00 - as it was a private lobby: Everyone had a stable ping and came from Europe, we knew eachother and we were in Teamspeak
On a different note: The AI behind P3 (^t0daY), namely Rosberg, ran multiple times into P3 (^t0daY) during Safety Car and ALSO overtook him illegaly - the AI seems to like to overtake under Safety Car which is nonsense

Hi Neuer31, this is the pit stop issue that puts the player who goes in to the pit lane in first briefly. You'll see in the video that you go from being in 2nd position to 3rd for a few seconds, this is when you're told to overtake the SC. If this happens and you ignore the overtake message it will fix itself, if you overtake the SC you'll just have to form the queue again. We've fixed the issue where you would then get drive through penalties for being too far behind the SC so other than having to form the queue again this isn't as nasty a bug as it used to be.

We're continuing to look at ways to fix the cause of the problem where someone who pits ends up being shown in first briefly.

Appreciate this is an old thread, but i was dredging through the forum trying to find an existing thread for this bug. It happened in our league race last night.

Essentially, exactly the same scenario. The lead car was behind the SC, then was told to "overtake SC". The big issue is, however, contrary to the post in October, the leader then did get 2 drive through penalties for "falling too far back" (Despite going flat out and even corner cutting massively to try and catch up).

Interestingly, it is the second time it has happened in our league and both times were at Canada, both times at almost the same point on the track (which is also the track / corner where it happens on the clip in this thread).

So i suppose 2 questions for @Lozzy -

1) Is this something which is specific to Canada? The one thing which comes to mind is that Canada is one of the few tracks where the pit lane route is probably quite a bit quicker / shorter than the main track route

2) The fix that supposedly meant we would not get the "falling too far back" message after the leader goes ahead and passes the SC, is 1 out of 2 for us. First time, no issue with that message / penalty, second time, huge issue. Was the fix specific to some scenario?

Not here to moan about why it is not fixed / no patch etc - Just to understand how we can work around it in our league.

Jambo98 did the issue occur when someone else was in the pit lane? I believe the best work around is to ignore the overtake the SC message if you're in first place, after a few seconds it will go away and everything should work again. That said the penalties for falling too far back were fixed a while back so you might have found another issue.

I don't suppose you have a video do you?

@Lozzy Yeah it was the same issue - 2 cars which were pitting momentarily show up as first.  Noted re the solution being not to overtake, we can work with that.

In terms of the falling to far back, yup here is the video - You can see it kicks in almost as soon as he overtakes the SC

Thank you for the video. That's very odd because that's the exact scenario which I thought we had fixed. Perhaps it's because the issue occurs twice in quick succession, the first time the player doesn't overtake the SC, but the second time he does. Or it's an issue with Canada but I can't think of anything that's special about that track in terms of the Safety Car.
