PRACTICE STARTS? ARE THEY POSSIBLE?

Recommended Posts

As far as I am aware, it is not possible to use the clutch outside of the race start or formation lap, and therefore you cannot do a practice start during a practice or qualifying session - is this true, or is there a way to do this?

If you cannot, is there any way that accurately resembles the start? - I have tried starting in neutral and then changing into 1st, but this doesn't normally give an accurate feel for the race start.

I feel that this would be a great addition in future patches or games, as it is key to get a good start, especially when you aren't using assists, and it would be good to be able to practice and get it perfect for the real race start, would you agree?

Thanks to everyone for your responses.

Just start a quick race and restart the session, as iam aware that is the only way to do a few starts.

You said you tried this but it seems to currently be a really good way - and you can do as many as you like.
Go into time trial and brake to a complete stop. Put the car in neutral and rev the engine and then press the button to change gear - release when ready and it mimics a clutch start.

Go into time trial... hmm... That won't work. In TT the cars are fully upgraded, so it is not very accurate.
OK. Go in to a quick race - let everyone else drive around whilst you do some practice starts. That sounds much better.

@USPBauer24 - Thanks for your reply, I did try the neutral into 1st, but as I said, it didn't feel that realistic to me. I found that it required a lot more revs than the real start, so I couldn't find a good throttle position.

In time trial the cars are vanilla I think, just without fuel and tyre wear.
