F1 2017 - Game Ideas

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome to a new 2017 idea forum. You can have a say in your 2017 ideas to make next years game even better then the last. Thank you!

One of the first ideas in which I have is to bring back Red flags but alot more realistic. To begin with, if the weather get wose or there is a crash a  red flag would happend resulting in  you having  to drive into the pits and parkup (Like in brazil) You would then be sent to the setup up screen where you can change your setup if you wish to. Once done the race will start under saftey car from the pit lane; After the first lap the safety car will drive in a clean racing can begin. This little detail, although small can make a huge improvment in the 2016 game.

A second idea is to add pitlane starts/ saftey cars starts. Eventhough fans hate to see a saftey car start, most recently safety cars starts are becoming more frequent and this would add a little more realism to next years game. Pitlane starts would also be a great additon to the game. If you get a penalty earlier in the weekend, a pitlane start would improve the game massivley. I would love for this to heppen. Please feel free to add any of your ideas below! : )

For me a very important feature would be to implement the TV graphics into the game. The graphics from 2016 are very boring

gp2 and gp3 in career mode
As much ad id like gp2 in career mode this is not ea its a small budget (compared), small team from birmingham tring to negotiate a liscence with a sporting body that are blind

GP2, Red Flag but also I would love to be able to walk around the whole paddock as an open world environment and get interviews, chill out look at all the cars go into your garage  I know it most likely will never happen but one reason I would love to be part of F1 is because of the community element like what happened when Massa walked down the pit lane yesterday ! It was really cool and that's what I would love

Fix screen tearing and FPS (Framerate)
Add red flags back into the game for big crashes.
Also, in earlier games the red flag only came out if there was a crash involving 4 or 5 people at least. I think that the red flag should come out (if it will be in F1 2017) if one car crashes but only if the accident is big. (Like Kevin Magnussen in Spa 2016)
Re-do R&D. It is a good concept, but I think that the R&D resets every year without affecting your cars performance. The AI should also upgrade more, or Codies should make the R&D upgrades cost WAY more Resource Points.
Simulation Damage. It works well, but it isn't always that consistent. It needs to be a little easier (at least) to loose parts. Also, I think that you should be able to loose a mirror and rear wing & stuff just like back in F1 2010-2013.
The AI's cars are way more stronger that yours. (Damage wise) They can get no damage from hitting the wall at 100 mph (160.934 km/h) while you can loose a wheel for hitting the wall at 50 mph (80.4672 km/h). This needs to be fixed.
There needs to be different R&D tests at different circuits.
Better sponsorship banners at tracks. (like TagHeuer at Monaco.) But Of course not the sponsors like Johnnie Walker, Heineken, Martini, Smirnoff, KingFisher, and Chandon because Pegi 3 does not allow them.
Better Face for drivers.
More Interaction with Chris (R&D guy) and Emma (Your agent)
More celebrations for winning races or being on the podium.
Making it so you can get Mechanical failures. (Engine Failure, Suspension breaking like at Austria this year, things like that.) Also, if you can get Mechanical Failures, (I know that the AI will) the lower teams have more failures.
Real hats for the drivers to wear.
Podium cut scenes in multiplayer.
More helmet customization. (Making your own helmet from scratch, able to put your number on it, choose the shapes for the helmet.)
Full crash replays.
More avatars to pick from the start of your career mode.
Being able to make your own face.
Better car updates. The game should be more up-to-date with the real life cars
Cranes that remove the cars from the track instead of the cars just disappearing.
Marshals cleaning up the track instead of the debris just disappearing.
Make the AI way more aggressive on each other, on you, and for defending.
Real life cut-scenes when the game is loading.
You get a puncture or damage to your car when you run over debris.
Being able to start from GP3 or GP2.
Being able to make your own team from GP3, GP2, or F1. (You will be able to design your cars, get sponsors for doing well, sign drivers, design your garage, things like that.
The final thing that I want is to make it so Jeff tells you that the SC is out do to rain, and if red flags are added, having the race possibly being red flagged due to rain.

And yes, I'm aware of the FOM.

CAREER MODE - AI RESERVE DRIVER POOL

For your 10 year career mode, how about having some sort of Pool of AI Drivers (customisable) that could come in and replace other existing (branded) drivers over time (seasons). Current AI drivers could be dropped on performance, and a new (unbranded) AI Driver comes in... this could entirely be random each Career, would help simulate the passage of time over seasons... Potentially if this was customisable you could Add in a 'Lance Stroll' or 'Pierre Gasly', You wouldn't have the Faces, but you could set the name and nationality, perhaps even an affialiate team,  IE  this driver is most likely to pop up in a Red Bull in 2-3 Seasons...

Yes I know outlandish, and I'm aware of FOM too and the fact Codies have limited resources etc etc..

But Technically I don't think this is particularly hard as much of the Driver Logic and Generic Driver Graphics already exist.

Agree on all your ideas by and large... particularly these, generally these don't seem huge tasks either

It would be cool to add possibilities of change of regulation and the return of the engine info in the screen settings

I have a couple of idea for F1 2017. 1).is when you play in the cockpit  screen and you have no hud on when a virtual safety car or normal safety car comes the steering wheel doesn't tell you your delta,so if your going too fast you don't know and you get disqualified. Your engineer does tells you but very rarely. I actually had a race with no hud and a safety car came out and I went over my delta once and my engineer told me so I slowed down but I didn't know how much to slow down. Eventually I got disqualified for speeding under the safety car 7 times and my engineer told my once and he didn't even tell me I got multiple drive thoughts. So a steering wheel that tells you your delta under safety car conditions would be nice.
2).Keeping with steering wheel display it'll be very nice if your steering wheel told you when theres a safety car or virtual safety car. With the yellow letters SC or VSC in the top corner like how it say pit when you need to pit. But it says VSC or SC and it tells you your delta.
3).Next is you should add more types of mechanical failures. Right know theres just engine failure. You could add Suspension failure (like Jenson at Abu Dhabi :( .)  or have an ERS failure (I think thats a thing)or a DRS Failure (I think thats also a thing) there are so many possibilities of race ending failures. And if it happens to you and your race ends it should tell what went wrong. Which brings me to my next point.
4).You should be able in the options somewhere to turn mechanical failures on for just the Ai or the Ai and you. Because I've notice I've never had a race ending mechanical failure. And I know you have this because of people would get mad because they were leading with one lap left and there engine blows. I understand that but there are lot of people like me who would like to have failures to happen to us. It'll make the game feel more realistic and maybe have an section in R&D were you can improve reliability. So with low reliability it will give a edge of your seat feel as you race and hope something doesn't go wrong with your car.

5). Also make it possible to get a puncture if someone hits you in the rear.
6). Last is safety car start might be interesting.

Well was going to add few ideas of my own everything been covered crane lift the car off the track marshals GP2 GP3 own your own team better R&D  engine failures make the game more real to us has we play so be in the lead with 10 or some laps left hoping and wishing to make it to the end then engine blows up or part of the car body breaks away front wing or rear wing drops off we seen in F1 races body work falling off the car that be something also have to remember the budget have to work with little by little please

- Add SESSION LIST option to the Xbox One version (Online Multyplayer)
- Online Rankings just like in F1 2011 & F1 2012
- Interviews in Career Mode, just like in F1 2010 and F1 2011 (You would be able turn them off.)
- Car Upgrading in Multiplayer Championship mode

There needs to be an ERS system
although unlikely a 'proper career mode' where you start from gp3 and work your way up
more faces to be able to choose from when you start career mode
someone new instead of Jeff
better in game display graphics
press conferences and on grid interviews on the grid (maybe with Martin Brundle they've already got crofty
having the number 1 on your car if you win the championship(optional of course)
more things to upgrade in the R&D section,it's  too easy for a team like sauber to be the best on the grid
make the AI aggressive on every single difficuilty

Why do so many people make threads about something without bothering if someone has already done it? The original thread for F1 2017 thread can be found here:   http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/47400/ideas-for-2017-and-beyond#latest

I know I am late. Dont hate. But here are a lot of ideas:

- Marshals coming into the track and clearing away debris.
- Being allowed to enter the pit lane manually and stop at the pit box manually. This adds to the drama, you may hit one of your team members but they get themselves up.
- Also, using the clutch as you get away from your pit box will add to the effect.
- Cranes lifting cars up if they crash and you are able to see the crane lifting the damaged car, adds realistic effect instead of cars dissappearing.
- Open world environment. Allows the player to walk around the paddock, to see other drivers/talk with time, to have small interviews which the player may or may not want to, to sign signatures for fans which the player may want to or may not want to, walk around the garage/talk with the mechanics or engineers, this allows players to have a real insight of the F1 world.
- To add a bit more entertainment you can have a 3rd and 1st player view like GTA V
- Have feeder categories such as Formula 4, Formula 3(GP3), Formula 3.5 Renault, Formula 2( GP2) . With this you may can get a promotion by a team in F1, so you may miss a one feeder category and exceed to F1. This allows career mode to have a lot harder and more realistic gameplay.
-  Driving to parc ferme when the race has ended or in qualifying/practice. As you make your way to parc ferme engineers can talk to you about lap times, positions, team boss may want to talk to you.
- When you win a world championship team boss will congratulate you, which normally happens in Formula One.
- Being apart of the parade lap, again interviews.
- Thursday conferences with the press, again interviews.
- When racing you might be told to be move over and let your team mate pass. If you don't you may get penalised by your team. This has happened a lot recently in F1 so why not add it.
- The AI defending on straights and corners needs to be better.
- The AI attacking on straights and corners needs to be slightly better.
- The AI makes mistakes, misses an apex, runs wide, crashes with other drivers or with the players. I think we  need more first corner incidents, which have to be either very big or very small.
- Winter testing. Tiametmarduk said they should add this and I believe this too. With the new R & D the game should allow you to test the new upgrades on the vehicle when your doing a winter test. When doing a winter test, you can have that long tube at the top. Don't know what its called. Test engine power and so on.
- Customise your own celebration when winning a race, on a podium or on qualifying. Again, 1st person mode or 3rd person mode will make it more entertaining as you can see the crowd. Especially in Monza, you can hear the crowd cheering when your on the podium. Imagine that.
- More buttons needed, such as you can change engine settings, charge the battery, you can use ERS, change you display (from lap times to speed to power).
- Interact more with the engineer, ask him any questions about the car or other drivers.
- Engine blow outs, even though it takes the ____ it makes the title challenge harder and better. But it should happen to the teams with low reliability mainly.
- Improve crash model slightly.
- When you lock up to heavily a black spot can be seen which causes vibrations like Nico Rosberg in 2015, Russia, I think.
- Better and more cut scenes, maybe when arriving to parc ferme or going to the weighing place or going to the pre podium room etc.
- A trophy room along with the cars you won it with and in the middle can be the constructors and world championship trophies.
- Start the race with a safety car and rarely ever end with a safety car.
- Cars aquaplaning sending them to the wall or spinning off like in Brazil 2016.
- Add classic tracks and classic cars back to the game with a variation from the 1950's to the present.
- Cars can go flying when they hit another car.
- Reduce the spinning when a car hits the wall or another car coming towards them. Needs to be more realistic.
- Being able to see data from your car such as lap times, braking/acceleration, G - Forces, gear changes and so on.
- Cars touching the kerbs in wet conditions and spinning off not just you but the AI.
- If there is a huge crash at the start, safety car takes you along the pit lane instead of start finish straight. Rarely must happen.
- Medic cars come to the scene as well.
- Oil leaks (rarely) the powder added to the top of the leak for effect.
- Tar mac, best line clean and worst lines full of tyre bits as seen in Formula One.
- Rarely, animals coming to the track like Singapore 2016 or even birds flying across the sky.
- Singapore FP1 needs to be a daylight to near night transaction like Australia in the real game.
- You can see engine blow outs from behind the car.
- Punctures from touching debris.
- Punctures should explode instead losing pressure anywhere across the road.
- More practice activities such as installation lap, starts and so on.

Yeah that's pretty much it. I sound very high saying all of that. Credits to the people who said things before me which I added here again, you guys are getting notified its not just Tiametmarduk. Plus as Cheezkape said I am aware of FOM Licensing.

Forget about extra game modes and other pointless things. The core gameplay it self needs to be entertaining. Whenever codemasers spend there time developing extra things, the core gameplay is affected. Career Mode is ok so far, I like the new ideas they have in 2016 but they should come up with more. Also online should be concentrated on to give the game longevity like in 2010 and 2011 where you would collect xp.

Totally agree with this the fact we on xbox one don't have a custom lobby browser similar to the guy's on playstation 4 it's just not right.

Especially with all the events they have I haven't seen any on xbox soo far but I could be wrong in the aspect. As @lozzy has said it would take some considerable work to add background infrastructure for Xbox one users let's hope they have made an effort for us this year.

The things that bugged me most about playing F1 2016 were the limited usefulness of R&D throughout an entire career and limited difficulty modes causing me to always feel stuck on the wrong difficulty. So having R&D either greatly expanded or simply more balanced towards an entire career and having more difficulty levels would be very welcome.

That said.. if they were to add the option to play career as a woman, they could make the worst F1 game in history and I would still play it to death.. pretty please?  :D
