RodgerDavies 933 Posted February 10, 2019 Clearly Galway need to put more effort in; modelling only 40km of unique stage for their rally. Shame.

Yup, this is the way modern rallies moves towards. Loops of stages rather than unique ones. Galway better do some proper DLC for next year. Free of charge obviously.
Janneman60 154 Posted February 10, 2019 In the old forum, when I clicked on a topic, it went automatic to the last post in that thread I read. Why is that gone? Now the forum is worse then before...

I don't think folk should buy DLC if they're not wanting to play that content. Otherwise it's just encouraging more of the same. But I think the choice Codemasters have given (upgraded stuff as DLC, so optional) is very consumer friendly.

tbtstt 2,387 Posted February 10, 2019 Just one WRCar in the mix and it's an S12b. Just saying Codemasters... ...it has to be said that the entry for Galway is fantastic, shows just how popular R5 is.
sqdstr 107 Posted February 10, 2019 A bit off topic but has anyone seen the last episode of The Grand Tour from last friday? There's a documentary film in it that Hammond made about Jim Clark, it's such a brilliant video, very touching & emotional. It really is a must see tbh. 2

Best segment thus far of season three (by a huge margin) in my personal opinion. I thought the GT40 segment was the best bit of season one and the Audi/Lancia WRC feature the best bit of season two. I wish they'd do more of the historic motorsport features and less recycling of old Top Gear material.

And it shows in Eastern - Europe rallies, many drivers have quite rallying entirely or developed prototype cars, that were ment to bring costs down, but to make them competitive with R5, they tend to be cheaper only by a margin. Yeah, that's something that has been discussed (somewhere!) on this forum before. R5's certainly deliver fantastic performance and they are less expensive than WRCars, but they are FAR from cheap. Given how much they cost I am still surprised how popular the class has been in Europe. As you say though, that isn't true everywhere. I am really intrigued by the proto cars, though I have never seen one up close.

SRD_SimVansevenant 863 Posted February 10, 2019 (edited) Something HORRIBLE just happened! I was having a blast driving the M3 E30 Group A (Snijers-in-Manx-style) around Monte Carlo. When I tried to correct a slide I had to turn my wheel rapidly and suddenly there was a click or something snapped and I can't get it to work anymore. From time to time it makes a buzzing noise for a few seconds. I think I broke my T300 Servo Base which is far from enjoyable and terrible timing! 😥 Any of you know if I can send it back to repair or will I have to buy a new base? Sorry for this being off-topic.. Edited February 10, 2019 by SimVansevenant

It's well known that having a DiRT sticker on the car gives you +5 BHP boost. The fact the car also looks THIS good also helps (gosh, I love the Fiesta R5) 20 minutes ago, teknoid85 said:

I am really intrigued by the proto cars, though I have never seen one up close. I've had chance to discuss it with couple of team mechanics and drivers. Initial idea was to take a random shell - something light and nimble, build and mount group N parts to it. But now there are custom suspension, gearboxes etc. Thanks to that couple of teams are at the same level as R5 cars. Some teams sees it as business opportunity - develop a fast proto car and sell it to customers, others don't like the idea of a car that is usable only in local rallies and can't be used in official FIA races. If you want to see protos with competitive drivers in action and compare them to R5, pre '17 WRC and latest WRC cars in action, I advice to come Rally Estonia. 🙂 Fantastic event, rumors are that all WRC teams will be participating this year, oh yea and of course rally trucks.
