@tbtstt no I believe they have been running 2.5s here since they where available to the American market.

You're the authority on US rallying @gfRally and I wouldn't normally doubt you: but I'm still not convinced!

I am 99% certain that the early Vermont cars were Group N/Spec C derived (and thus 2.0L). Was sure subsequent rally cars had stayed at 2.0L and the rallycross car(s) definitely are.

I notice that none of the current Vermont specification sheets seem to mention displacement: I wonder if that is because of marketing?

Just been looking at that @AlexSpartan316. Possibly an error on the part of whoever is running the website but for the rally car...

"Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled STI engine with a ARA Championship-mandated 34mm turbo inlet restrictor."

...and for the rallycross car...

"Under the hood sits a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged and intercooled BOXER engine. "

@tbtstt just checked with ARA on FB they said its HAS in fact been 2ltr forever.  I stand corrected and learned something.

”It's the STi motorsports EJ20"G" (based on the g closed deck block, running k style shim under bucket heads), has been around in various forms in pretty much every race car that says STi. Including the rally cars, but also the BRZ super GT cars.”

You have also lot of rally and motorsport culture in Italy with iconic cars so there is not much to complain for you 😉

@tbtstt @AlexSpartan316 Since you mentioned it, the VT15 car runs a 2.5 liter engine (or based on that block) possibly heads/stroke have changed that displacement.  Unlike the rest of the world getting a EJ20, we have had a EJ25 for a while.  Probably going back to a 2.3 with the new FA23 turbo that is being used in the huge Assent.  Owner Lance Smith has mentioned that SRT cars are pretty set between an R5 and a WRC car.  Where would a car like this fall in the game?  I don't think it should matter, maybe a special class of cars or on its own.  Maybe have an R5(US) class with a larger turbo restrictor (in game theory) to compete.  This year Barry McKenna has done very well competing against Subaru with his US Spec R5 car.  Another rather common practice here is stuffing 5.0 liter mustang motors into Mark2 Escorts, and GM LS v8 motors into just about anything - Mazda RX7, and Chevy Sonic to name 2.  Oh the Sonic that occasionally runs here had to add a lot of lead to the car to come up to specs on power/weight ratio for the open class, its a bit of a novelty, but so is KB 😂 when he shows up (to burn his Codriver).

Sorry to ramble, but never going to pass up a chance to educate you EU guys about American Rally, as best as I can.

I would just like to add a few points about the current US rally situation. Barry McKenna's R5 car has been close to the front, but that is after Subaru Rally Team agreed to some new restrictions that went into effect last year IIRC. They had to add 300 lbs, use narrower tires, use an even smaller intake restrictor, and use an off the shelf turbo. I think the SRTUSA cars are faster than most give them credit for - especially before these new restrictions.

Those 100 jumps at Finland, that’s basically 2 Stages 😄

'cause not only real jumps are counted. Any moment a car's tires are in air counts. for example while bouncing on frequent bumps. That's why this achievement is so quick to complete.

Was it only last year?  Seems longer than that, but the last 2 have been a little blurry for me.

I believe this was partially due to the new ARA trying to even out the field across all classes.  They where also trying to lower the average mph per stage.  Subaru was consistently posting 100mph+ stages, so things had to change here.

For one, many complained that Subaru was just out spending everyone here with no competition coming close, so there is that.

Second, this started scaring event organizers with risk management, unfortunately the US is very litigious culture and no one wants to get sued.  To many people take stupid risks and don’t take responsibility just run to the closest lawyer.  There could have also been pressure from the US forestry service where much of the events take place here for the same reason of being sued (this is a guess, but stuff like this has been brought up).

Finally, the ARA has really been trying to entice teams to come to the US to compete.  If no one is able to even touch Subaru and think of winning an event, then what’s the incentive?

There are a lot of angles that can be looked at as to why that change was made.

In my opinion, as a spectator, I cannot tell the difference of 90mph or 100mph flying past me.  As @AlexSpartan316 said the competition has gotten closer.   Frankly the best season in the last 10 years, up till now, was back in 2013 when Ken Block ran a full season and it was neck and neck between Higgins and Block the entire season.  This last season has been a lot more exciting with the restriction changes.

I really dont understand this World, the special liveries got better last few, but again, this week are very blant.

how can someone use his time and make "special livery" so bad? when you have time, and you are paid for it why dont you make really something special!?

second, this livery should be aproved? so who did aprove this livery? have you even saw it before aproved!?

third who did the licencing of this livery?

fourth how could let Car Manufacture to someone disgrace their product with such liveries?

But at the end, Its just me complain, i am happy that we got any new livery, on PC poeple can add their liveries, We on console not, i hope next game will have livery editor like Forza and GT Sport, so we wont have any of this problems anymore!

It’s pretty sad, imagine a proper entry list with proper manufacturers variety in the open class...in US you have some awesome locations for rally. Maybe if they change regulations and make less restrictive competitive classes like they do in NZ or Australia...

what I don’t understand is why you still run with 2.0 L engines in the open category?
