Managed to blag a passenger ride in Gary Hewitt's 6R4 and also this...

...it was only a few laps, but I'm still buzzing from it now!

Our relationship is over.

That sounds fantastic - I'm very jealous! How cool would it have been if you could boot up your PC and keep buzzing for longer by playing DiRT Rally RX? :D :D   (sorry for taking a dig, but I'm too jealous  )

More potential good news for @tbtstt

If anyone heard Absolute Rally radio show yesterday, it was very heavily hinted at by Ryan Champion (the gent who lent the Group A Subaru for sound recording) that there will be console news announced soon.

If not, it's a great show and you should check it out :P

Hi All, maybe you have better insights than me :)

At the launch of Dirt Rally, a couple of press reviews talked about a track editor which would be added and made available for everyone wanting to create additional stages. Is anyone aware of such a plan going foward (if yes, any potential release date)? or a misunderstanding from press?

IMO adding stages going forward is critical point for the longevity of the soft.

That I'm aware off, @justbiglee talked about that once, but they haven't promised anything about that and I'm sure that I read somewhere that CM don't have the tools to create a stage editor for us.

They will add two more locations until November.

I guess the 306 has nothing on the 406 (old clip, but fan of Taxi series will recognize it) :

One for you @Ginginho:

The livery is almost finished (based on the rally 6R4), has been for some time; I was waiting on the assumption that there would be historic cars for RX tracks. Now I'm not so sure... :(

I've not heard anything but the WRX tie-in does make me wonder. I'll be chuffed to bits if the Grp B cars do make a RX appearance.

Posting this here because it’s gonna end up here anyway and I don’t want to create a big fuss... But well, you’ll see what I mean by the time I get to the end.

Ok... Right... So here’s the thing...

This week is my last as your DiRT community manager.

My last day at Codemasters is Thursday.

And I’m sorry.

I don’t really know how else to say it, I’ve been trying to work out how best to tell you guys this for weeks and I honestly can’t find the words... Which is probably a world first for me.

These last two and a half years have been awesome and I owe that largely to you guys, the DiRTy Gossipers. For a long time it was maybe about 15 of us rattling around in here talking about DiRT. I loved dropping clues for you around the internet and watching as you tried to put the pieces together, I probably enjoyed it a little too much if I’m honest.

You guys did more for what would become DiRT Rally than you’ll probably ever know, you supported us when the going got tough and man did it get tough at times.

It’s a story we’ll probably never tell but I just wanted to say thank you to you guys for getting us to that point, helping us keep it together, validating our theories, and coming in to playtest. Just sticking around and being awesome - you know who you are.

Then on April 27th the wait was over and I like to think I surprised you all with these two tweets

Not gonna lie I was shaking when I pushed the tweet button on that, I remember my boss hovering around behind me watching and I screamed at him to “eff the eff off” (well, a more explicit version of that) because I didn’t need the added pressure.

I weirdly saw it as the last 2 years of my life, more than that for people like Paul and Darren. God knows how many millions in development and a lot of blood, sweat and tears all hinged on me being right, that this was the best way to announce this game.

You know how they say just before you die your life flashes before your eyes? It was like that but with DiRT.

*click*

That’s it, it was done. The world now knew our secret and even to this day I can’t believe it worked. So many things had to happen perfectly in order for that launch to work and thankfully due to the awesome team around me it did.

That first week was mental, we trended on Twitter, hosted a livestream we didn’t even rehearse, got into the top 5 games streamed on Twitch. This place lit up, the Steam Forums lit up and a new community was born.

It never really slowed down either, each week was just different.

Paul always said that his vision for DiRT Rally was to make the best off-road racing game anybody has ever made and I always wanted to run the best Early Access anybody has ever run. We’ve got Paul’s bit covered, as for mine I like to think we have so far but only time will tell.

I do hand on heart believe that DiRT Rally is the best racing game anybody has ever made and that is because you guys have pushed us to be better developers. You’ve challenged us every step of the way, called us out on our mistakes and worked with us to help fix them.

This is our game (and I am including you in that) and I’m just a small part of that story. Maybe I’m too close to it but I can’t ever see it being topped, people will be inspired to become rally drivers because of this game, meanwhile other people are already becoming better rally drivers because of this game.

That’s the legacy I want DiRT Rally to leave, I want it to haunt the comments sections of other people’s games, I want it to haunt ours. Keep the pressure on.

Paul, Darren and the rest of the team will look after you. If they pick the replacement I’ve suggested then the new person that replaces me will too.

I consider many of you good friends so don’t think of this as a goodbye, you can get me on Twitter pretty much anytime and as soon as I’ve got a decent PC we’ll have some World RX fun online.

You’re here for a good time, not a long time.
