screen grab from the trailer. you're able to drive some (all?) locations in different seasons. awesome.

otherwise, this reminds me too much of Showdown. edit: just read the blog. looks more like D2/D3 with one or two modes reminiscent of Showdown

I'm super down though. D2 and D3 were/are excellent, though D2 is overrated imo. it gets really repetitive with not enough locations or vehicles. I don't see that being a problem here though.

Dirt 5 is looking real good, i just hope it has those beloved dirt 3 minigames, they have really got me into the DiRT arcade vibe.

ahem.

they announce 3 locations in the blog: Brazil, New York City and Italy

but the screenshots in the blog have filenames that indicate 2 more: Norway (right) and China (left). many of the shots in the trailer are definitely from those two.

With Next Gen Console, Always uses next iteration (heavily-reworked)  Ego Engine.. it would be Crime, that they use the same Engine as DR2.0, Now, with so much more capabilities of new hardware

wheel support I would say is pretty much guaranteed. VR is more of a Dirt Rally thing so I doubt it.

The trailer and the information I have from the internet is a deterrent to buy.

I hope that there will be real rally content in the finished game, otherwise I will wait until the next Dirt Rally

By the way, the trailer looks like a bad nightmare........ what does this have to do with Rally

they're going back to a formula that sold a couple of million copies with D2 and D3. so there's rally, but there's also several other disciplines. it's an arcade-leaning off-road game. 

how is this a surprise to people?

Dirt 4 was a commercial failure. I loved it (I'm playing it now on PS4), but it was trying to introduce serious rallying to casual gamers and also appeal to the many serious players who had gotten into DIrt Rally. but it was too sim-feeling (the design, the types of events, etc) for casual gamers and sim players didn't like the procedural generation and the handling model.

so why would they go back to that?

CM going full sim-cade like D2/D3 is not surprising at all, especially when you think about what they did with Grid last year, and that those two games were the commercial peak of the franchise.
