Btw, people who are interested in some old, but with "quality", video report of Dutch/Belgium (and other) rally footages should check this YouTube Channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpbMMZ0Nd5s5WkVtMZrKKOA/videos

In the 00's quite a lot with WRC cars in the Netherlands, but there is also footage with Group B cars 🙂

Maybe it is also cool for @PJTierney to use it for socials or newsletters.

Went to have a quick play of DR2.0 this evening: rather surprised that the latest patch is 9.5 GB (PS4). Guess I won't be playing tonight then... :classic_laugh:

9.5? The latest PC one was 17, just happened to pop up when I wanted to do something else.

They could have at least put a surprise new car/Spa in with a patch that big... :classic_biggrin:

Those Höljes bits of code are chonky.

Intrigued to know what has changed here. Was racing online a few weeks ago and got punted into the infield (on the way down the hill), got immediately reset and got a massive penalty: most annoying!

In some scenarios there was a very deep shortcut. Hard to pull off but still repeatable.

What means "chonky"? Google just repeated the word for me, lol 🤣

Can you show us an example? I mean, if it is fixed now, it shouldn't be a problem, eh?
Just curious, what shortcut triggered this "mess" at the moment, despite you guys saying "no patch anymore".
I don't seem to be affected by the problems, though, just curious.

And maybe two strange questions for you @PJTierney:

1. Are you guys 100% sure the xbox version is not affected by the engine audio problems?
Did you tested everything, also the other cars with a new engine audio?
Only want to be 100% sure, the game goes EoL in the best possible version.

2. I realised yesterday I got kicked out of a club the day the patch came out.
It's strange, because the club was inactive for more than a year, had only 5 members and there are no stats anymore.
Pretty unlikely, the admin kicked me out after such a long time and not doing anything else with the club.
All others are still in the club and theres no new championship coming.

I don't care much about that club specifically, but if that would happen to one of the more important active ones, I would be pretty ****** to lose my trophies.

So is the patch maybe responsible for that?

Quote

Chonky describes animals that are adorably round, plump, pudgy, or otherwise heavier than average. It was originally applied to fat cats, but has since praised dogs, squirrels, otters, and even some humans.

I don't have a video, but essentially if somebody went left after the Joker they could sometimes bypass the reset lines. It was only in races, not TT so Leaderboards aren't affected.

There's a bug ticket logged so I presume it's being checked on all platforms.

I was told it's only on PlayStation.

First I've heard of it. Might be worth seeing if the owner deleted the Club.

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought and searched for the club (stalker vibes here).
It's still there, I even joined it again to see if anything else changed, but all others are still in the club and no activity at all.
Very unlikely the admin kicked me, would surprise me if he did, though still a possibility of course.
Very strange.

Though since there are no stats left, I left the club again.
I'm now in exactly 20 clubs, 7 of them are inactive for a long time (many months) and 2 for quite some time (a few weeks).

If anyone is in an very active open club with many members let me know.
I'm still interested for more action.
But I generally don't register anywhere. These "join our esports crew" messages are annoying...

Hmm. This is the first I've heard of a player getting booted from a Club and it's not like you're registered in 50+ either. Maybe the owner decided to become active and kicked you 😄

Probably not though. If anyone else has random Club ejections let me know and I'll see if there's a trend.

Did I miss something? Why is there an update, and why so large?

Btw, anyone interested in a 2003 WRC Focus?

I guess this version of the Focus (03-05) is the only Ford 2.0L WRC missing currently from the DiRT Rally genre? As we basically got first MK1 model (99-02) and the MK2 (06-10). This "Evo MK1" model is than the only one missing. Yes, the Escort WRC is also missing from the Ford 2.0L WRC, but we got the Group A version of that.

Interesting how a few years ago DR was only slightly familiar to real rally people, or it was 'just a game'.  Now after #canceled2020 and everyone searched, including drivers, for thier rally fix, this is now a thing.

I did my best to promote it over the years here in the US, not going to say it was all me, but hopefully I got the bug in a couple drivers to play.

Being in PlayStation Plus at the very moment global lockdowns became a thing was a huge shot in the arm for the game.

Tons of new people got know of the game and we're still seeing the effects of it today.

Patch notes are in the usual place.

The size is because Höljes needed to be republished in its entirety, and location files are usually 10+ GB each, even the Rallycross tracks.

The decision was either patch the track and have a big download, or don't patch it and leave a potentially massive corner-cutting exploit in there.

Well good thing I uninstalled the game like a year ago. I'm sick of trying to launch a game and needing a 10gb update when it was fine yesterday just so I can host content I don't "own" on my PC.

Breaking news: Man who gets paid to tweet about rally game is fast at rally game.

Great job, man. You've mastered the Newhouse Bridge stage and all of its variations for sure. Going to give this a try. I never drive the Lancia. When I see a car dominate the leaderboards I lose interest in driving it, not exactly sure why. I should drive it more often. I have a soft spot for the Porsche but all cars are great in that class, one of my favourites for sure.

Now I understand what was going on with Holjes. I remember one danish guy who beat everyone there in dailies, esports or league racers by at least 10 seconds, every time. Must have had huge lawnmower sessions that guy ^^

I prefer the M1 as it sounds like a beast and feels faster, even if the Lancia produces better times.
