I'm really happy about the upcoming cars. and other stuff . Anyway, I feel very sorry that there are licensing problems in DR with a car brand, that had such an impressive impact in the history of World Rallying: TOYOTA.

Dont know if the licensing issue has been discussed more in detail about Toyota here, but if not pls @KickUp  could you at least mention a few words about this, we had Toyota in many CMR Rally Titles and even in Dirt 3 still. So it's quite hard to understand, why a brand should suddenly be so reluctant to refuse licensing on this ultimate rally Sim. Would appreciate any more detail here.

How far back do things like active diffs in wrc go? I've seen some places mention 1997, others I see 2003. I believe in '06 they got rid of them. I think there was some exceptions that still allowed them in certain cases though.

^ I wouldn't say he has a lack of competition, there are a few drivers on equal speed terms as him, it's just his consistency which out performs everyone else

Isn't being consistent part of being at a competitive/professional level? I don't see how you could be competitive without being consistent. Just as being quick is obviously a part of being competitive.

Edit: And let me add. That yes, there are a few that can equal or better Ogier in the speed department. They just lack the consistency portion. Would love to see Tanak do this consistently:

Yep. When I was rallying in the 70s, on a given rally, there was a stage (or two maybe) where I could beat Roger Clark or Ari Vatanen...but scores where they beat me!

In other news:

Hyundai New Generation i20 WRC previews next year's rally weapon. So what we see here is not a 2017 spec car but rather a current spec base they will probably build upon for 2017.

I remember McRae dominating Australian stages which are narrow and tricky with a manual gearbox and a clutch.

About the electronic assists:
From "article 255a (2015) - specific regulations for wrc (page 5)" states that: "Any electronic driving aid system is prohibited (ABS/ASR/EPS...)"

Spot on, the current cars are by no means easy to drive and they are doing so at even more insane speeds than Group B (and getting quicker). Ogier might make it look easy, just as Loeb did, but that doesn't mean he deserves any less respect (for his driving) than any of his more revered predecessors IMO.

Well said @RodgerDavies ! I fully agree; every era of the WRC (and the cars of every era) appeal in different ways. As you say, the simple fact is that the cars now are faster on stage than the monsters of the Group B era: and with "just" 1.6L engines! 

I think the 2017 rule changes are going to be very interesting: the cars will look meaner and have more power, which both sound great to me. The return of electronic diffs is the only slight negative, but with the hike in power they are talking about it may be a necessity .

That i20 is ok looking, I prefer it more than the current model. It's that livery that's ugly, looks like a messed up version of the current i20 livery.

Heading off to Barcelona RX in a van? The DiRTy devs must be shifting a lot of gear from UK to Spain!

If they're going there for more than work  (car sound recording? track research? new car research?) then they'll enjoy Barcelona - it's an amazing city!

Maybe the gear in the back of the van are rigs for a PvP session between drivers?

I do think they should find a challenge equivalent to partying at a local moose hunter house.. :)

I like all this speculation about the cars, but cmon Finland is right around the corner!!  What are your speculations on which stage was modeled?  They said that the Finland stages are a little longer to make up for the speed you go through them, my guess (and hope) is Ouninpohja.  It's 34km which split in half into two mid length stages would be 17km which is a little longer than the longest stages we have so far.  If they follow the current model they have done stages that seems the most likely to me.

Makes sense right?  I hope so!  I have been trying to complete Ouninpohja on RBR for the last couple nights with no major incidents, unsuccessfully lol.  What a roller coaster butthole clenching stage that is, dear lord.

Makes sense to me! If not all 34 km between two stages, at least pretty close. Just doing some dangerously rough guesstimating, looking on juwra.com at the top speeds through the most recent runs through Ouninpohja, Hafren, and Panzerplatte Lang, they're about 129, 105, and 107 km/h respectively. So that makes Ouninpohja about 22% faster. Extending the longest stage in DR (Oberstein) by 22% would make it over 14 km, which would be run in the same time (at 130 km/h) as the current stages (at 105 km/h).
