SRD_SimVansevenant 863 Posted January 9, 2016 There were a few pacenote mods for RSRBR and I always picked those of Nicky Grist for some reason.Nostalgia indeed.
KevM 44 Posted January 9, 2016 We all love our Nicky, but when you hear the game with canned notes like that, it really does make you appreciate what we have in the game with Paul's actual human real-time co-driving. Its attention to detail like this that has really raised the bar for Rally games

Not just for the nostalgia or having Nicky, but because it's the first I've seen the pacenotes being modded in such a way.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bFOKr4uJd8 Will be interesting to see how it holds up on the more complex stages. Germany is very basic already.
Rallycameraman 241 Posted January 9, 2016 I had to stop watching that, it just sounds so bad. Nicks voice sounds really robotised.
steviejb 0 Posted January 9, 2016 Speaking of Nicky Grist pacenote mods, I had this one in Richard Burns Rally. I think I still have the files on my PC somewhere if anyone fancied messing with them. Yes, there's a wrong turn at one point. :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybq8GHPZsuo
sqdstr 107 Posted January 9, 2016 that's a very beautiful stage, imagine we could get stages like this in Dirt Rally if we could get a track editor

They aren't as sensitive to throttle input when cornering. This makes them more planted, predictable and easier to learn in. also in real life, no more sedan in the wrc class :(and toyota is ready for 2017 comeback with a toyota aygo!!!!!!!!what's next? smart wrc???? :'( Wrong! Toyota will make a comeback with a Yaris WRC which is a little larger, its about the same size as the current WRC cars

I daresay it's not a film you'll be watching every weekend, but it's definitely a documentary worth having in the collection (in my personal opinion anyway). A physical copy is also great for getting signed if you happen to run into anyone featured in it...
versedi 39 Posted January 9, 2016 Well someone found a way to convert OGG to WEM and compress it back to BNK. I've tested the polish codriver - the audio was used also in WRSMP for RBR (separate app that you had running with RBR and it gave you custom codrivers). It's synced pretty good, there are few details added if im not mistaken and generally it is hopeful! We'll see how it will behave in more complex stages (Oberstein is right, 200, left, 200, 500). Fast and flowing, not extremely technical, but doing 100+ kph through a narrow forest road (on gravel) is not easy either.
function9 0 Posted January 9, 2016 The mighty Semetin, onboard of the real stage:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqM-MdNWL58Edit: Was looking for this, is pretty cool. BrySkye 14 Posted January 9, 2016 To be clear, I wasn't posting that because it was Nicky in DiRT Rally.More the fact that it's been figured out how to edit them and change the voice clips. That might be especially useful for non-English mods which, let's be honest, have been a bit of a stumbling block. thecraicbear 0 Posted January 9, 2016 I would love to see some eastern European countryside stages in this game. I'd also love a good Rally of Ireland addition :D
SRD_SimVansevenant 863 Posted January 9, 2016 Semetin brings back some good memories! If you could complete that stage in RSRBR without a scratch, well, then you're really good. Once I jumped out of my rigg and nearly knocked my laptop off its stand and started shouting at the game: "I beat you! HA HA HA!" There were also some serious outbursts of anger as well though e.g. when I went off 200m before the end of the stage. Nearly ripped my steering wheel to bits. Conclusion?I'm a sore loser and an even worse winner.

function9 0 Posted January 9, 2016 The question I think of when I see things like the co-driver/pacenotes being edited, permanent helicam added, an awesome damage mod being done. All these things were done with relative ease, I mean it's not as if the engine had to be rewritten to do any of this. Why haven't [some of] these things already been done by the devs? They were all things asked for since very early on. Like the damage mod, it's insane what the engine is actually capable of compared to what we have in game. It makes you see just how laughable it is set to currently.http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/whatever-you-do-dont-crash.115862/http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/ultra-for-dirt-rally-1-02.115564/page-2Suspension arms can be damaged, locking up the (car) wheel in some cases, but it always affects the handling.I didn't get to test it that much yet, but it did feel like it made collisions with banks and other roadside objects a bit more believable instead of being thrown all over kingdom come. The above image is from bumping into a bank too hard.Edit: And yes, the tire greatly inhibits the car's acceleration, and as well you can feel the FFB pulling to the side because of the messed up wheel. I would guess because unlike many other titles it has been run to strict project constraints of time and budget. We should count our blessings DiRT Rally exists at all, I would imagine it took some persuading "them upstairs" and scope creep just wasn't an option. Stuff just takes time and resource. I would've rather had a better damage system implemented than time spent adding a rock that appears randomly on a stage, or something like seat adjustment. versedi said: KevM said: We need that as an option in the game (damage, not Grist) If I'm not mistaken this was already mentioned...licencing.These not smart people in high positions simply don't want their cars to be crashed. Idi.... The only explanation I can recall is Paul saying they wanted to make the cars durable enough so people finished stages instead of just restarting and that they might've made them a bit too durable. I don't buy the licensing angle because I would imagine companies, if they do care, care about what the car looks like to the player. Given that you can bust up a car pretty good in game already as well as inflicting terminal damage on the car, I don't see how it could come down to licensing. What we're talking about here is translating the cosmetic damage to some kind of mechanical damage that the player can get feedback from. Which the mod proves is already in the game, it's just not implemented.
