Vaguely DiRT related, but a few pictures from the second round of the British Rallycross Championship at Lydden a couple of weeks ago. Includes a few familiar cars to DiRT Rally players...

@tbtstt  As always great pix, and very jealous you get to do this for a living
Cheers @gfRally: it's only a hobby though, not a living!  ;)

@tbtstt that Escort looks unreal and too modern. Great snapshots, mate! :)
It's a beautifully built car @Darhour, it always looks too pristine to be used for rallycross! It's running a turbo charged Duratec engine, so it's also rather quick!

1. False. Steam poops out sales frequently, but console games are usually cheaper. Not sure why everyone keeps saying this. PC has cheap crap indie games, but any major games are usually more expensive.
2. PC's are a pain in the ass for experienced people. For example, my usb3 ports die every time I turn my PC off, so I have to actually disconnect power and reboot it for them to work.
3. I don't buy that. At all. A $400 PC is not worth it.
1. Oh yes, that perfectly explains why every single console version of a multi-platform game, in Poland at least, is about 20-40% more expensive than the PC version. I'm talking about AAA titles like FIFA 16, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Witcher 3 etc. From what I can see on Amazon US and UK it's the case also with some games (imagine that you have sales on those there as well, not only Steam have those), though usually prices are similar. Consoles versions seem to get sales more often there though, probably because Steam gives sales for the PC base.
2. That's called a faulty motherboard. If you're experienced and take care of your PC, you won't have issues unless some hardware failure happens. But they need to be taken care of, which most people don't do. Thus problems arise and stuff breaks.
3. Then you don't know what you're missing on. I suggest visiting LinusTechTips and look for a holidays buyers guide. Or a PS4, Xbone and PC comparison. Hardware wise you can build a better PC for the price of a console. It's not an opinion, it's a fact.

On US/EU market, yes. I'm not sure If you know this, but there are ways for PS4 players (I'm not sure about Xbox One, but I heard there's a way too) to get a brand new game (digital) for ~20€ (sharing it with a trusted partner tho). It's certain that this is not quite the "legal" way (I'm talking about how the games are bought and not the sharing thing) but Sony haven't done anything yet and I doubt they will and no, I'm not talking about the "ghost accounts".
Yeah, heard of the trick. But you need to find few people that will buy the game with you. So if you're alone... this won't work. And it's only through Playstation Store. When it comes to prices in the stores, not much you can do about it.

Not saying it was perfect, but it doesn't seem an unreasonable opinion to voice that it might have gone a bit too far from one extreme to the other.
Puncture from scratching a snowbank at 50km/h. I don't care what are the experiences of others and how lucky they are. You have nothing against getting a puncture at that speed from a SNOWBANK. If that can happen, that means the whole puncture system was one gigantic pile of... well, I trust your imagination to think of something properly descriptive.

And just to shut Rinus up with his "people don't know how to setup their cars". I used your setups just to make sure, drove carefully and was way behind everyone times. Sped up a little bit, first bigger jump and *pop*. If I may add, that setup of yours was dreadful to drive as well.
So it was not about setups nor how fast someone was. Punctures were WAY out of control. Completely unreasonable. Anyone who didn't got them while driving relatively quick (not Porky quick), was running either on an ocean of luck or using some stuff in the background.

If I hit a big rock at way over 100km/h, I don't expect a puncture. I expect the entire wheel to be ripped off... however the tire should be still intact allowing the wheel to just bounce off into the distance. If I land a stupidly long jump, I don't expect a puncture. I expect the suspension to collapse. Especially when the roads are clear from any possible debris, which is the case with every single stage in DR.

Yeah yea PCMASTERRACE etc. etc.
There isn't one true best option (there is, it's pc), this depends on the user and it's usecase.
But let's not get dragged away in this discussion since there won't be a conclusion.

Yes, but that's because I got cocky - not random bad luck. Just the way it should be.

Good job, they seem to be the slowest.
that dude lost all his credibility to me when he reviewed SLRE, stating: "OH. MY. GOD. The sound is sooooooo good in this game".

Won some stages (tarmac) in the 205 last night. My proudest moment with the game so far. Was feeling pretty good about my driving, so I then went and did the daily (Delta S4 in Greece)...

...clipped a bank hard and got a puncture about 30 seconds in to the stage, so I then had to crawl to the finish. Went back to feeling bad about my driving!

It gives you a option to fix a puncture but you loose about a minute fixing it.

I agree, each is suited to each preference. Some prefer the easiness and how just for games consoles are without bothering about any other thing, some prefer modability of PCs and so on and so forth. I just pointed out that the pricing isn't as obvious as it may seem.

Actually minute and a half. I don't really think it's worth fixing, on most cars it won't slow you down enough to lose a minute and a half, even in a long stage

Yeah, it's a 90 second penalty. I thought I would lose less time driving with the flat, so I carried on...

...considering my final stage time, I think that may have been a poor choice.

Alright, I live in America. Every Gamestop I go to has games there that are cheaper by default. Guess I don't know Poland.
It's not necessarily a faulty motherboard... I don't think... the USB worked and I was dumb and decided, "hey, let's update the drivers" and now they they turn off when the computer restarts, and it's a problem (as far as I can tell) with a lot of the Gigabyte Mobo's. You'd think they would've fixed it.
I'm not sure what you're talking about here, I've had multiple $400 PC's and they're all a piece of crap. My PC now has somewhere around $1500 in it, and I'd only suggest a $400 PC if you want to things like eMail or maybe play games at 720. Hardware wise, it might be a little bit better, but running windows 7 (I don't know about 10) takes a lot out of system performance alone.
In any case, Linus is super annoying. I also still hate Steam. Man I wish Gog.com was bigger.
I could put together a spec sheet for you about my PC because I don't even remember what all is in it.:P

I was playing yesterday and I think I stuck my ass out too far and hit a tree. Pop. Should've been a crunch and game over, but oh well.
