@KickUp one comment concerning the soundtrack (and intro video) : get some baddass music to do something similar to what Infogrames and Eden Studios did with V-Rally 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-UsLem-OVw

Yeah, that intro was sweet, but I liked Rally Championship 2000's music more :)

Of course CMR 3.0 had the best main menu theme ever ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82ZKNd1f6rE

And CMR 2005 had the best overall soundtrack IMHO (I really like the overal UI design as well)

talking about colin macrae makes me wonder if we will see the colin macrae r4, it would be great if we do as that thing was fun as hell
It's McRae. Please spell it correctly.

Could everyone please rate this post as awesome so i can overtake @Porkhammer on the points scoring leaderboard. I've got to be in front on him at something codemasters related  :D
Now I have to go back and Awesome Porkhammer. Maybe even Craic as he hasn't been around a lot lately.

I'm hoping @urgaffel managed to figure out how to squeeze real time volumetric dirt and fog with proper z depth and buffering.
Otherwise I'm frankly not interested.
Sadly the vfx won't be quite that fancy, we still have to hit 60 fps :P

@Rallycameraman i see your point, it was my autocomplete on my phone that had changed it, macrae is a common name around here due to a mining town, i apologise for the mistake, it is still a fun car though

Wait, come one, we need to pool the facts together.. so far we have the CMR 2.0 case open to rally modes, Nintendo Switch licensing deal, Ford Fiesta pen, breath holding competition, NOT Ping-pong, though I assume that's a lie, urgaffel is having fun with a new smoke sim (and most likely other things, like an unconfirmed new engine), cookies, playtesting facility, Austrian housing prices, #Believe, the number 4, Berlin, Definitely NOT Argentina, seeing as how they're still alive, Milestones being hit (Still hopefully the French company)... (Including a team average of a 10 second breath holding increase,) NDA's, Silence,
Don't you guys see? It's all right there, it's so clear!
Sometimes I get bored and go through my old posts because they make me giggle... And I actually predicted Dirt 4 and the menu system.

I can't seem to find a video of WRC 6's menu, but based on what it sounds like it could work. You could start off in the open area, like D2's, and have your last used car sitting there, probably with some mechanics doing... many things. Maybe even have the hood open. Forza's Autovista is quite a cool feature, and I often find myself messing around in it looking the car over. D2 sort of had that. Bring it back. You could have a simple menu interface, instead of trying to figure out where things were like in D2, and the different options quickly lead you to different places. Inside could be the exit where you go to sleep, or other system settings/control options. Outside could be your manager with the location/career map.... I suppose you could much like DR have an initial selection of career of custom event, then lead to your open career, or custom options. The map could have all your destinations pointed out.
I also personally liked when you got everything ready in D2, and it zoomed out to the map, traveled to the location, then zoomed back in. It's a neat feature, and BF1 does it pretty well too.

I still want this though, just to be fun.

When they wrote in the road book some things of yorkie bars, well York is the SSS of Australia in CMR3 and CMR2005 I am sure, I dont remember if in CMR:DiRT also
oh, and some sort of real estate mini game hidden in the service park....
You have to buy garage space and living areas for track locations around the world.

Guess someone better get to work on some serious optimizations then.

@KickUp

I think i already asked/suggested this some pages back, but i'll do it again :p

Can we, please, have some thing like Cortextual Telemetry Tool, on screen ( with ON/OFF option )?

Like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJxPkCvgzlo

And as a heads up...

- Give to ( analog ) Handbrake Settings, Deadzone and Saturation settings. It's missing in DiRT Rally.

- Move pop-up Split Times to Left/Right/Up side of screen. In DiRT Rally, is in the middle of screen, or almost...

Oh, can we have more sliders on Sound Settings? I mean, Engine, Skid/Tires, Enviroment/Crowd, Exhaust, Gravel/Stones that hit bottom of the car, etc, etc

CMR 3.0's menu music was spectacular, and definitely the best of all the games in the series. However, as far as intros go, CMR 2.0 is the clear winner every time:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIRluy2OHys&t

The menu music is also an instantly recognizable classic:

I would even post the link for the complete soundtrack (the music in the arcade mode around the circular tracks was epic, especially around Corsica), but meh.

@KickUp A few questions about the livery creator:

1- How far into career must we progress in order to gain access to it?
2- What will be able to play with in the livery creator? I already read numbers and designs.
3- We will, obviously, by what we've been told, going to have to unlock sponsors. But what about designs and colors, will all those be available from the start, kind of like SLRE?
4- Will we be able to take our personal livery and select it in Freeplay?
5- How far do the door numbers go?

Hmm, thanks for the link @KickUp I didn't realise they were bike engines.  I'm guessing, based on your (very good) reasons for needing to sample the Peugeot F2 car, that @soundfx is going to/has already sampled at least a bike, if not an actual crosskart.

Hah, you thought you were stalked, i celebrated 3k visits last year. :X

I do sometimes hide rants in the profile, so it isn't all fully in vain.
