P308R 28 Posted May 8, 2017 I have a wheel as well but it to much of a hassle to set it up everytime. Someone already mentioned a nice solution so maybe I'll run D4 also with a wheel. I simply like the controller :p

twisted 8 Posted May 8, 2017 @versedi Someone said that RBR still outstands DR in matter of simulation...well not in that part, sorry. Plus the sounds are so creepy RBR or "the game that is like driving on ice"... whoever still arguing this old gem beats DR must be the kind of person who still listen to ACDC in a nostalgic kind of way. Joking aside, RBR was good and I'm not ashamed to say I played it for years but seriously... 13 years, 13 years!! I've tried latest NGP version with Fiesta and i20 WRC 2017 and it did not impress me that much, sure it was a fun ride but these cars are skidding all over the place like if I was in a pool of grease... I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. Sure tarmac handling have been improved but DR did everything else better and now we have D4 coming, so I don't see the point sticking to it apart for the great mods the community may come up with. And for all I can tell, I'm confident the Your Stage tech will fill that gap nicely hands down!

F2CMaDMaXX 505 Posted May 8, 2017 Yeah, button handbrake on a wheel is terrible. If you have a shifter, it's worth losing the h box just to get the handbrake on it.Who has a separate handbrake and a link to it?
Rygar86 67 Posted May 8, 2017 Off topic, I know, but I wanted you guys to see this quality special feature on the 1979 Canberra Rally. We are going to be racing in Australia very soon after all ;) This location shares some of the characteristics of the fictional 'Fitzroy Rally' in D4, the roads are really dusty and goes through forests and fields. Also has some great looking RWD cars, awesome sounds (Escorts sound epic), excellent race footage (especially for it's day) and some very interesting narration and interviews with the drivers. Highly recommended and I hope you enjoy!Old School FTW  Rally was more simple here especially they they did the service stops, some of them even competing in jeans and a t-shirt!Fun Fact: This rally is actually coming up at the end of this month and is the home of the infamous 'Mine shaft" jump, that some may remember from good ol' RBR.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A71UkUpSIw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A71UkUpSIw
PaloSamo 0 Posted May 8, 2017 I did my separate handbrake from my son's tigger baby door bouncer. I used one of the metal parts as a lever (it already had springs) and put a round part from a metal bed frame around it to create a handle. I also used a door catcher (if that is a proper name for it) from an old wardrobe as a stopper/connection. I connected the whole bit to my G27's gearbox module as button 1. Works like a dream :)

Lynx2000 7 Posted May 9, 2017 I used to use a button on the wheel but I hated it so now I use a joystick(I didn't use enough) as a handbrake really love it as it's always in the same place I can now pull it without looking and you have better feeling aswell. And for all I can tell, I'm confident the Your Stage tech will fill that gap nicely hands down! Exactly this.I read somewhere on reddit the other day that the problem with driving sims (mainly tarmac tracks) is the level of grip changes at lower and higher speeds IRL which most of these games don't simulate which is why a lot of the time, you'll get understeer at low speeds in-game. They have to balance inbetween them probably because of physics processing power limitations (#noidealol) which perfectly describes RBR's problem.RBR nailed the sensation of really getting a car sideways better than other rally games thus far (not including D4 atm as I haven't got to play the final version yet) but it didn't vary. You would get very sideways at low speeds when in reality, you would have a decent amount of grip compared to higher speeds so it is very much like being on ice most of the time. Not to say that it isn't fun, I've had a blast with it and now that someone has added VR support, I'm playing it more than DR at the moment which I don't think I'll be playing again for the time being. Well RBR may be too slippery in some situations, but I like it that you have to try to keep the car on the road, align it for the turn and then still drive it out of the turn, same with all the bumps on the road, you can really feel them, while in Dirt, after playing many hours, it seems that you don't have too do so much driving, just apply a little braking going into the turn and the car pretty much aligns itself corectly, and I think that in DR it is done so that you could be competitive with a gamepad. But on the other hand, RBR is too predictable and you have to slide it more than is realistic whereas in DR this is the opposite due to its lack of lateral grip physics. The bumps are because the polygons in the track of RBR are larger so more 'spikes' compared to DR which is smoother tracks due to the smaller polygons. This is my impression anyway. versedi 39 Posted May 9, 2017 We demand new hype producing materials! On the serious note though: SlapTrain's out of material - he uploaded DiRT 3 video. There wasn't anything new on the internet since the official trailer. The article on RedBull is pretty much everything we already know from previous articles and DiRT Show. The WRX takes place this or next weekend? Folks we're counting on you! Take a camera and record some proper rally content! ;)
