SamRWD 2 Posted June 5, 2017 The ONLY grip (;)) I have with crashes is damage other than visual. I hope on hardest level, the one you have to unlock, crashes will be less forgiving. I saw people hit trees with a front of the car pretty hard, they were able to finish the stage with no problems. Also body deformation is really hard to do, would rather have other aspect of D4 refined. For me they are more than good enough. Maybe RX guys would like more due to the nature of RX races. Have you seen the erased citizens gameplay from a couple weeks ago? They made the mini cooper end up onto a tree at pretty low speed and had to retire, without even too much previous damage if I remember correctly, which videos have you watched with people ending up on a tree and getting away with it? WeamDreaver 12 Posted June 5, 2017 CHROM3 has uploaded a comparison between sim and gamer mode.Strangely, some drifts look more realistic (momentum is kept longer and ending smoother) in gamer mode.Anyway, most notably is the time for the same stage:sim mode - 3:18.273gamer mode - 3:04.221That's quite a lot. Do we know what exactly the difference is between both modes? Are the physics different? Does gamer mode have more and better assists? Different tyres?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4UMcFqJC_Y
SirPhilMcKraken 279 Posted June 5, 2017 Gamer mode will be faster as it has assists to help it stay on the road and grip better and be more direct

Yes the AI are dependent on whether you use Gamer or Sim, that is why you can't change between the handling models in the middle of a championship.Human players are kept on seperate leaderboards. ShouldBeThere 0 Posted June 5, 2017 @KickUp (Or anyone else) Are the game files packaged up like F1 2016 was? Has anyone had a look to see what we can and can't get access to with regards to modding liveries, menus, car handling ctf files e.t.c

versedi 39 Posted June 5, 2017 @KickUp are we able to disable driver's hands and or wheel in-car camera? All videos are with them enabled and you didn't answered that question earlier (at least not that I know of).

And that's why 15 years old games (ie all gModor based ones) can show more deformation than than D4? D4 cars are prone to brake apart rather then deformate. But if there is no enough energy, then damage is barely visible (for example after roll).Even D:R has more deformation than D4 shown on recent videos. Moreover deformation in D:R could be extended by using community mod. It proves that better deformation is in place, ready to use. But for some reasons suppressed by developers. And please don't say it's because of manufacturers demands. dgeesi0 said: watch my video at the end with the escort mk2.i thought that crash was brilliant :D What is brilliant? Maybe number of particles or bushes crushed by falling car. Do you ever seen car crashed onto tree? And I'm not going to say D4 should properly simulate whole crash physics. But at least it should mimic this to believable level. Especially since damage and crashes are inseparable part of rallies

SirPhilMcKraken 279 Posted June 5, 2017 The deformation I think is more down to the car manufacturers not wanting their cars to be damaged too much, could be wrong though

It's because of manufacturer demands.I agree our damage systems could be improved but it is all confined by the demands of the licensing agreements. I'd argue cars take more damage in DiRT than they do in many other current licensed racing titles but every time we release a game the manufacturers get stricter about damage not more lenient. SirPhilMcKraken 279 Posted June 5, 2017 I'm guessing its why Dirt Showdown used fictional cars for the most part, would be pretty naff to have a demo derby game without full damage :P
