What else should we talk about?
How about GT Sport? I had a busy week, wanted to try it today and what did I found? Servers are down till the release, game won't save in offline mode, no singleplayer carreer mode. New GT is basically "dead on arrival" for me.

Back to DiRT Rally and DiRT 4.

The demo was over the 13th at 14:00 PDT. So maybe you tried after the deadline.

No sp career? That's always my favourite part of racing games. I don't have a PS4 anyway, but that sounds like a big disappointment.

I wasn't disappointed in DiRT 4, to be honest. But GT Sport seems to be the worst GT in my view.

I just had another look at it (having downloaded it earlier in the week) and that is the message I am seeing, so I think @badaboum528 is right and you tried too late @SergeyTokarev...

...that said, I played it for a couple of evenings and, for the most part, I was pretty disappointed. I already knew that there were less options than previous GT games, but I didn't realize that the only SP content that is part of the game career is the license tests: all the races are online. Graphically it looks superb and the audio on the few cars I tried sounds way better than previous GT games, but what is the point in that when the only way to progress through the game hinges on whether you can find decent people to race with?

I have bought every GT game either on, or just after, release. GT Sport is the first one I have no desire to purchase. Given how much GT6 was expanded on post-release I hope they do the same with GT Sport. If they were to add in a lot of SP (i.e. career) content, then I could be won back. For now though, my money is going elsewhere.

I love the topic title of this thread, 'DiRTy'! That's a good play on a word!

Yes, I remember playing Colin McRae Rally 04 and Colin McRae Rally 2005, on my PlayStation 2. I enjoyed both. I no longer have these games, but I am not sure if I would enjoy playing them, not because they are bad games, because I don't think they are, but playing games on PlayStation 2's are just so boring because consoles are way out date now and become even more out of date when plug one into a flat screen HD TV, which makes the picture become a massive fuzz-ball!

Thank you so much for posting those pages on Gran Turismo Sport, Alf22. I am really, really excited for my pre-order of it to arrive. Also, I need to get DiRT 4, as soon as possible too! Not good news for the bank account though! :)

Any news on Dirt Rally 2.0? :wink:

Know it’s still early as Dirt 4 only came out earlier this year but would love to hear what CM might have planned for the next Dirt installment.

If they do another DiRT series installment next year or something like that they'll probably get a s***storm of massive proportions... Codies don't have that much of a reputation about supporting games and if you think about what happened after the Project CARS 2 announcement you'll see why it would be a bad idea to announce things too soon. And in all honesty, I think DiRT 4 was a bit rushed and that's what ultimately killed it so I'd rather wait more to get a DiRT Rally 2.0 that would pick up where the last Rally left off

@stephensmattlee

Yes, it would be nice to see what Colin could of had in store for us. We probably would have had a proper DiRT game every two years,@stephensmattlee

Maybe the games could be even better than they are if they had his input. These things, I think however, are stuff we will never ever know.

@carpa

I don't think DiRT 5 will come out next year. If we get another DiRT video game next year, something tells me it will be a third spin-off, to go with DiRT: Showdown and DiRT Rally. Let's go back to the first three DiRT video games, the main first three, in the series:

Colin McRae: DiRT (Released: 2007)
Colin McRae: DiRT 2 (Released: 2009)
DiRT 3 (Released: 2011)

This is gap two years, in between each release. If we ever get a DiRT 5, which I certainly hope we do, I estimate it to be released in 2019, or more. It could have a longer gap than two years, just like the gap between DiRT 3 and DiRT 4 (Excluding the two spin-off's). All I hope, is that DiRT 5 doesn't have a massive gap of six years, just like DiRT 4 did, after DiRT 3.

I'd recommend PCSX2 for an emulator. You can bump up to 1080 and get some nice AA going.

In other random news, I found out my brother has the original DiRT on his PS3 he doesn't use, which my wheel conveniently works with.
Now I can finally experience it since I couldn't get it to work on my PC.

@stephensmattlee

there a big studio now expect yearly games.probably like EA does. will just rotate games. so like Dirt 4/5/6 with Probably Dirt rally 2.0 next.

hopefully the next title which id expect for next year is Dirt rally 2.0. add in between next F1 2018 games and whatever else.

I played the hell out of it at the time - and of the first three DiRT games I still think D1 has the best locations - but, for me, it has the most unnatural car handling of all the games in the series.

Damn, and I thought I was being harsh with my appraisal of the game! It pains me to be so negative about a Gran Turismo title as its been one of the few game series that I have stuck with from day one. Every game has had it's minor flaws, but changing the major underpinning of the game seems bonkers.
