Does anyone know if the Test Drive miles add onto your distance driven for upgrades? Could be a nice way to pad a few extra miles to get the next upgrade when you're right on the edge.

Doesn't look like it. Every time I've gone in to Dirtfish, the milometer resets to 0 😞

And to do super awesome drifts through while letting our inner Kenneth Block out!

Seriously, I know people think the whole gymkhana thing is super "bro" and isn't in the spirit of true rally, but goddamn if it isn't an absolute blast to do. It also lets you hone your skills 100x faster than doing normal stage rally because you can force yourself to attack an obstacle constantly until you learn serious car control.

Not to mention playing follow the leader back in D3 with all your friends drunkenly at the end of the night is some of my best memories in Dirt :classic_biggrin:

Messing around at Battersea in D3 pretty quickly got me to reliably do sick high speed handbrake turns into donuts around light poles. I still argue it's be fun to have gymkhana back, but keep it as a separate career path like they're doing now. You're not forced to randomly do rally, then RX, then hillclimb, then gymkhana.

And if you aren't interested in gymkhana or haven't practiced those events are a real *****.

Absolutely. Yeah, they could design an all new area for DR2.0, but Dirtfish was more than adequate in D4 and I would rather that is added now then having to wait longer for an all new environment when all I want is a wide open space to play with the cars in.

Well, Dirtfish was kind of limited and didn't have any of the actual "tracks" outside of maybe a bit vague cone track.

Ah. I love having to download updates for things I'll never use. Is it at least in the same "game?" Assetto Corsa and Project Cars both show up under Steams "I'm going to force you to have a VR tag, despite you not owning VR and not give a way to delete or disable it" category.

Good god sir, have you gone mad!? We will not accept this tomfoolery in our presence. I beg your leave at once!

Good day sir!

Dirtfish is like a set from Half Life 2. What would be really cool is if we could stop the car, get out, and pick up a gravity gun.

It's more like a set from some weird 90's TV spooky mystery show.

I'll be honest, I'm happy enough to see the cars, but I'm somewhat disappointed to see the '01 Focus and '01 Impreza in the 2000CC class, if that's where they end up.

So the 2001 Focus and 2010 Citroen C4 will be in the same class, but the '01 Lancer Evo VI will be in a class with a '92(ish) Lancia Delta?

That is what I was hoping: I have loads of cars almost there!

I feel like they should just add another older Evo and move the VI over.

and/or make a new class with the 01 Impreza and focus and stick the Skoda in there.

Well Dirtfish is fun, but it is the same thing as in D4, so quite limited. Still fun to do sick slides and donuts in and out of the warehouse and around the heli pad.

Also removed the Dirt 3 assets, most notably the digger. I get that this is more "serious" or whatever, but with the kinds of RX tracks Mr. Pastrami makes some jumps wouldn't be bad. Or maybe something of interest in the big empty area next to the warehouse.

Wouldn't it be better to put the Evo VI, 01 Impreza and 01 Focus in a "millenium" class and let the other classes the way they are?

There is just the problem with the leaderboards. CM would need to find a way to put the Evo VI times from the Group A leaderboards to the new leaderboard. Wipe the Group A leaderboards would be meh. But to be honest, I don't see how the Evo VI is much better than the Delta, on the leaderboards it seems both are pretty similar in times.

Not sure if the 01 Impreza and 01 Focus are competitive against the 07 Focus and C4 Rally, probably not really. So they need there own class.

And before someone cries about putting the Stratos back in H2: Parity > History. I rather have car classes were the cars are competitive against each other than have correct historical classes. As long it's not too crazy. The Stratos is even in H3 probably the best car together with the M3 EVO. Putting it back to H2 would mean absolutely 0 chance for my good old loved Kadett and 131.

The thing is that Clubs will not allow multiclass events.

so if they dont put a millenial class into place, the evo will never run against the focus 01 for example, despite being directly competitive.

For the leaderboard problem I would actually have a Suggestion:

If u add in the millenial dlc cars, just add in another car for free for everyone: A second identical Evo 6. This second evo will be in the millenial class too. This would leave the current grp A intact, but give the evo multi access. Also would give non-dlc-owners a way to participate in millenial events.

Or they just make a non class specific option for clubs were you can exclude cars per option. But I realise in the moment I write it, it's pretty much the same as multi class clubs then 😄

Thats probably a license issue. Wouldn't surprise me, if manufacturers don't want an Delta S4 against an R5 or something.

Your solution is...interesting. I'm not sure if that would cause confusion with 2 exact same Evo VIs in the garage in 2 different classes. It would be better just using the same Evo VI in both classes. But that could be also a license problem maybe.

I think moving it to a millenial class would be better and maybe filling the free Group A place with an older 90s Group A car. The Delta is unbeatable anyway, so it doesn't really matter how competitive it is, lol.

But I have the feeling they just go the easy/lazy way and just put them in 2000cc 😄

This is something that needs to be done. This has been a problem since DR1, was not addressed in D4 after many requests and I was seriously thinking this would've been addressed in DR2, but apparently it isn't. To escalate the issue, multiclass is absent from Clubs.

Also, is the Focus 2001/Impreza supposed to be available already, or is that some bug happening there? The Focus looked pretty bland in the video.

If you join an up to 2000cc* custom lobby and the leader owns the DLC, then the 2001 Focus shows up as an option when choosing a car.

Managed to get it in to my own private custom event but when you leave and re-enter the session, it says you need the DLC.

Managed to record a stage in it 🙂

*For the record, the Focus is in this class, so can only assume the Impreza will be too.

I wonder this will be free or paid 2000s cars. Btw agree about a millenial class with the Evo VI and 2001 Focus and Impreza. It seems just odd to see there cars compete against the later 00's and much more developed Impreza/Focus/C4.

Would be awesome if they gifted everyone the Focus. Bearing in mind it was the cover car for CMR2.0 and it would've been Colin's 51st birthday this week.

Doubt it'll happen though because of the time and resources spent recording the real life counterpart. One can dream!

gah, that Focus livery is boring. I expected it though. and still better than the 2007 one 😕

highly, highly doubt they'll be free. I don't care though.

the 4 new achievements are live now. I posted about em here https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/41487-vr-dirtfish-patch-notes-version-17-of-dirt-rally-20/?do=findComment&comment=452909

Assuming the RS200 trophy is Martin Schanche inspired then maximum kudos to whomever named that!

What I'd like to see is some sort of system introduced whereby you start an event and choose a car, let's say the Renault 5 Turbo from H3 RWD for example, and you toggle an option where the game will select the AI based on a pre defined year range, regardless of class. So you would get the chance to race against cars from different classes in game, with different drive trains but from the same time period.

Sure that means with the Renault 5 Turbo example you'll get put against some Group B AWD cars but so be it, that's what actually happened, and I'd love to see what I can do in an 037 at Spain against the AWD monsters.

So in theory if you were to choose the 01 Focus for a custom event, the AI would be chosen based on cars from, let's say for arguments sake a 4 year range, 99 Evo, 01 Impreza and 05 Skoda for example.

Just an idea I had...

Dirtfish is grand an all but we never found the Kebab Pizza easter egg in Dirt 4. Maybe it's in the new Dirtfish too? Anyone for some clues...?
