I feel you're using the term "brutal" incorrectly - no car that isn't in need of dire repair, needs brutal force to shift.

Yeah, brutal is not correct. maybe substantial is better. My point was, that real-life rally sequential shifters are still mechanical, requiring some force to operate. those are far from clicking a sensitive button. Though, companies which build simracing shifters try make them to respond in similar way to real ones.

Is it slower then pressing buttons? Likely yes. but a lot simracers chose it over to get more realistic feeling.

One too many days on the old Fast and Furious arcade machines methinks.

Don't you know if you brute slam the shifter you gain .0003 seconds?

True. You always always have more head room when it comes to pushing the accelerator too. It's never actually fully pressed. Need more? Here you go.

You also have infinite gears.

Out of the loop with this now, have they said when the patch with the dashboard view is due at all?

I find it pretty quick, and it's not clunky at all, but whatever. Different opinions I suppose. Everyone who's tried my Fanatec shifter has really liked it.

Also it seems more representative of what's actually used instead of a teeny little thing.

I do enjoy my Fanatec shifter as well. I like the H-pattern distinctness at full tension, but the SQ tends to get stuck in the outer position at the same tension.

The only thing I miss is the ability to adjust the travel needed in SQ mode.

Overall it represents IRL gear shifting quite well in both modes imo. Miles ahead of G25/DFGT/Thrustmaster.

Suggestion for Livery of Focus 2007 to @PJTierney

If the liveries are to expensive (the 2007, or 2008, 09, 10), You can use this 2005 from Australia WRC, it has only Castrol and Michelin, it would be not problem, You (CM) already used it for Fake livery in Dirt4

edit: Sorry dont know why picture is not showing, just link?

Agreed, the 07 Focus is such a waste of a good car at the moment with its naff liveries 😩

I do wonder how many ideas PJ has seen on the social media channels and the forum, noted them to pass onto the dev team but hasn't personally responded to the OP for each and every one? Now that I think about it, it's probably physically impossible to respond to every single such suggestion before the year 6137. 🤔

Also, I've got much bigger priorities sometimes, like coordinating announcements, tracking feedback, and many more besides.

Got to weigh up things sometimes, like do I respond to the 10 or 20 questions on the forum or prep posts that go out to half a million people on Facebook 😉

You may have seen some insights in recent Roadbooks however, like Stage Degradation being explained a bit more. That's a good place for that kind of thing and I want to do more of that, but I also want to do many other things and I can't pick them all 😄

Finally (and this is true for all comments we get) even though we may not respond to everything we do read everything, so feedback and questions you all have do have an impact on what we do, even if it's not immediately obvious 🙂

Perfect!

But, some about my question?

I don't have an official answer.

I would imagine however (and this is just my guess) that any tyre system changes would also require big AI balance adjustments, which are unlikely at this stage of development.

I insist that having a whole tire system created, just so that it doesn't work properly is a waste. it is not necessary to modify any parameter of the ai, only the duration of the tires, that the soft ones effectively wear out quickly and the means a little less, in the current parameters the soft ones keep the grip all the time, their performance does not decay.

I consider myself done with what you convey to the team what many people believe. Currently, it is only useful to use soft tires.

or make them default to avoid need of setting them in each service area 😉

Yeah I know, It's not the goal op is asking for.

Anyway, doesn't current tire wear rate reflect real life? I cannot imagine softs lasting 5km only. so another solution comes to mind is making stages/events longer and limiting number of tires

The tyre wear system does not seem to live  up to what the team were wanting based on the preview stuff before release, however i will argue that AI times *would* need adjusting if they were changed and soft tyres to degrade over a stage.  It's all about how you drive and what the surface type is.

OK the tire system is not working as we expect it to be. On the other side, the way medium is a bit slower on the stage seems spot on.

From what I remember on the tyre system was that they did get it working how they wanted (and we expected) but that some issues which popped up late in production caused them to revert to an earlier model. I remember one of the devs saying it was very common for them to use Mediums or Hards during inter-office events because the tires would start to go fast.

Basically how the tyre models work is that they are all individually simualted. The wear that occurs on the tires isn't something as simple as "the wear coefficient for Soft = X, Medium = Y, Hard = Z" - every single action you perform impacts each tyre individually. If you drift around you will where out the tires faster than driving smooth and clean. Dragging the right tires through the grass the entire time with the left on tarmac will cause the right to wear out more. Pulling the handbrake and doing a 2 minute burn out in a GT will shred the back tires and you will feel it the very first corner you take after that.

What the exact issues were with the tyres that caused them to revert was never fully explained, but it was something they addressed saying they would like to eventually go back and work on it again if they get a chance. Sadly it is pretty low on the priority list compared to other things which parts of the community have been extremely vocal about.

I think the tires by now work absolutely fine imho. What is the issue is the abundance of service stops in all of the automated and official events.

In our League, driving mainly long stages and at least 3 in a row, mediums are much more viable much more often. In real WRC you have 4-5 long stages between Services (ca. 60km) and hard tires would be much more viable more often then. https://www.rallyekarte.de/Rally-Finland-2019

So instead of Tire system changes I would much rather rally for a System structure change of automated events. (Which also would leave the AI system just fine). Sprinkle in more 4 stage or 5 stage stretches between service parks in the MyTeam area and in Weekly and Monthly events and voila, you need more of the tyre choice

Not necessarily related but I wanted to share this story.

I was doing career in New Zealand with the Subaru R4, going foot to the floor at 180kph into a 6 Left over jump. I go over the crest, still full throttle, landing on the inside of the jump. All just to find a marshall weaving at me because there was a car stopped ahead. The marshall was literally on the edge of the road, on the inside where I had landed.

All I'll say is, I was still over 160 when I got the reset to track

I take it there is still no news on upping the number of career championship events from 6 to 11 (or 12 once Finland is released)?

it’s taking me longer and longer to have to start championships and abandon them until the locations i want appear.

this should be such an easy change to make, it should have been upped by one each time a new location is released, it’s so odd that it has never been addressed.
