Please tell me this is something lost in translation because I have no freaking clue what that's possibly supposed to mean.

Another way to say the saying is :  "You can dress up the pig, but it will still be a pig. "   think its basically international 😛   (note I am not making any comment on RBR here)

Oh I bet the devs will be thrilled to see 20 pics of different rally cars in this thread, I'm sure they are really logging in here every day as they have no idea what to pick next without our posts.  (massive BN sarcasm!  😙)

That’s right. It means something like that. I meant that the basis of RBR is very old. Nothing more. Respect for someone who likes RBR. I should have put spolier on the list of cars, right? I don’t handle myself well with the thread. I’m sorry (although sarcasm I think if I understood Xd)

Yeah I am just trying to be a bit realistic here on the car requests, there's also a request thread for cars specifically in this forum.  They probably have the main cars for release well locked down now barring any obstacles, and if anyone really wanted to have a good chance of influencing the list they would need to run a comprehensive poll, so that developers see that XYZ cars really have a lot of desire from the potential clients/buyers.   They already know things like "everyone wants modern WRC cars" and Toyota though, not that they necessarily can do anything about it for the next title.  🛌

In unrelated news, Riders Republic (aka Steep 2) was supposed to launch in February and has been indefinitely delayed with no footage, photos, or anything since reveal announcement.

Aw, I remember the announcement trailer for that and it looking great. Odd that we've heard practically nothing since then.

It would be difficult anyway with long Dakar stages.

Besides I like it as it is now, for me no extra's are necessary. I was glad the Pikes Peak was left out at dr2. Not because these extra's are not nice but better 1 thing good (ok 2 with rx added) as the effort spread out over different disciplines.

And yeah, Dakar rally should have a game on its own.

I think PJ would love to tell us more just as much as we'd love to know where things stand with the next DiRT Rally game.

Btw, if you like the Dakar Rally, a Dakar Rally game does exist.

There is indeed a Dakar 18 game, and a new one is coming.
Kan een afbeelding zijn van buitenshuis

Though to remind, DAKAR use Rally-Raid cars. Also these cars are not just on open areas, but also on Baja/Rally stages as you can see in the video below.

Therefore I think some Rally-Raid cars/class would be a nice addition for DiRT Rally.

In previous DiRT games there had been quite some Rally-Raid cars and I did enjoy them pretty well.

Maybe this is not the highest priority for the game to be added, but with DiRT 5 having quite a bunch of Rally-Raid cars, it wouldn't be bad and megawork to add them. Probably still some physics and licensing work need to be done still though.

Maybe these rally-raid cars from DiRT5 could be added from previous games:

  • Mini John Cooper Works Buggy by X-raid
  • Peugeot 3008 DKR Maxi
  • Volkswagen Race Touareg 3

There are three more in DiRT 5, but those are not really well known or factory cars. Maybe the 4x4 MINI John Cooper Works or Martin Prokop's Ford Raptor would be a well nice addition so you get two buggy and two 4x4.

Why not let them in DiRT 5?
I personally think these cars are typical gimmick cars. Nice to watch in real life, but on a "serious" rally simulator?
Don't think these would be a good addition.
Most would drive them a few times and then they are just wasted resources.

If I get all the cars from DR2.0 in DR3 I wouldn't care, but if those would replace a few of the current ones, I would be very p****d.
The RX content is already a burden for me. But I get people actually like that, but you know...not even more of that, please.

Let's keep in mind that DiRT Rally is not the main series anymore, so not like Colin McRae: DiRT were such cars were in them.
I think the problem here is, that DiRT 5 is such a cra* game. No rally stages, only these super fancy wide courses.
If DiRT 6 would be more like Colin McRae: DiRT, meaning definitely more arcade than DiRT Rally, but a wide range of classes and disciplines, but just slightly more "serious", that would make it more interesting.

Just my opinion. No offense.

Well they're claiming Covid and not wanting to crunch for the delay, which... fine I guess, but why has there been absolutely nothing shown and it's past launch day?

But it did look cool, even if I always forget what it's called. I don't know why they couldn't call it Steep 2: Steeper. Prequel to Steep 3: Steepest.

I made a little overview of the WRC 2.0L cars

image.png.066fb67c4a8e6fd7681e3cf8f802eae5.png

Some notes:
- Yes, i added the Evo VI to the list, even its a Group A car. It just fits more to this category cars compared to the other all other Group A cars who are early or mid 90's, while the Evo VI is a millenium car.
- I not added the specific mark/chassis/code number to the model, but more the years of the model. There were ofcourse the Impreza S12, S12B and S12C. Although its cool to maybe have all different specs, they look very similar though.

Interesting point:
One thing immediately notice is that basically a lot of mid 00's WRC cars aren't in the game. It's mostly early 00's or late 00's. This could have been a choice ofcourse to implement first two generations as some of them were already available in previous games. The only mid 00's WRC car is the Fabia.

What new WRC 2.0L cars should be added?
- Citroën Xsara, it has competed many years, got championships and legends as McRae, Sainz, Loeb and Solberg drove it.
- Subaru Impreza 03-05, it is a Solberg and championship winning car.

I think as these are Solberg/McRae cars and they won championships, these cars should have the highest prio to get a spot in the new game.

Probability
- Citroën Xsara, it always seemed Citroën is a bit difficult to get in the game, the C3 R5 and C4 WRC are in the game though, so it's not unlikely.
- Ford Escort, the good relationship with Ford should make this a good possibility. and with the Gr.A car as base it should easier to make than completly from scratch. Although as the Group A car is already available, it also makes the chance smaller, also when it might be possible to do multiclass events with carfilters. Btw Solberg drove it once in a WRC event.
- Ford Focus (03-05), a fan favorite (i think) and with Ford's relationship i think this should be a very logical car to get in the game.
- Hyundai Accent, I think all depends on possible licensing with Hyundai.
- Mitsubishi Lancer VII, it's not unlikely, but I think the other WRC will have a bigger chance.
- Mitsubishi Lancer (04/05), it seems it got possible to license this car now. The car is in The Crew game and Codies already did a sound recording in the past at MML.
- Peugeot 307, might have a big chance with the already many Pugs in the game.
- SEAT Cordoba, there are two Ibiza in the game, so not unlikely.
- Skoda Octavia, I think similar to Citroën en SEAT. Could be depending on licensing. One advantage of this car, it had a lot of seasons in WRC as factory car.
- Subaru Impreza (03-05), with the good relationship with Subaru, a Solberg champion car, it should come in the game.
- Subaru Impreza (06-07), a fan favorite, but also a Solberg and even a McRae car.
- Suzuki SX4, yeah, imo should be lowest priority car.
- Toyota Corolla, all depends on licensing, and we know with Toyota it seems impossible for now with Codies history, and also Toyota is official eSports partner of the WRC games. So probably will be an possibity if Codies makes a WRC game.

I'm thinking this may be the time we could get the 1.6L (first generation) WRCars. I'm thinking:

Mini Countryman WRC -> There's even a DiRT Rally livery from Jon Armstrong for it. Plus no longer homologated.

VW Polo R WRC - Also not homologated anymore and there's a solid partnership between VW and Codemasters. Car used in DR1.

Ford Fiesta RS WRC -> Homologation ending this year. Plus solid relationship with Ford.

Citroen DS3 WRC -> Relations have improved, quite a bit, between Citroen and Codemasters, with Citroen Racing promoting virtual motorsport using DR2.0. If this could be exploited, this championship winner could come. Homologation ending next year.

Hyundai i20 WRC (14-15, not 2016) -> No longer homologated, plus used in the first DR. If Hyundai could be brought back onboard, this could be likely.

Hopefully, with all these cars ending their useful competition, at the highest levels, they should be obsolete enough to avoid complaints.

@warpengage, as far as I know, none of the 1.6l WRC can compete at the WRC anymore, although the Hyundais and the late spec Ford still having homologation.

And I would like to have them spent money on them instead of more 2.0l cars that nobody will care about. End of the day, everybody will use the C4 in leagues and that's about it as the car is OP.

From the 2000cc class I'm most interested in the Citroen Xsara, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 04/05 and the 03/04/05 SUBARU Impreza.
Though I wouldn't mind any of the mentioned.

Most important for me is a split in the category to early's and late's, with the possibility to create multiclass events to put them back together, if wanted for clubs or anything.

A 1.6L class would only make sense for me, if they get at least 3 of the 5 cars for the game and 2 of them must be the Fiesta and Polo.

I would still like to see the Xsara and Petter Solberg's winning Impreza. Maybe also the Lancer WRC 05, which I've heard being floated around.

Are you sure they can't compete anymore? Martin Prokop lined up at the 2020 WRC Rally Italia Sardegna, driving a Ford Fiesta RS WRC. I mean, isn't the homologation for World Rally level?

EDIT: Although Prokop may not be eligible for points.

Not true.
I use most of them regularly, knowing I am not as fast as I could be on dailies for example.
Then I compare my time to the other drivers using my car and blend all the C4's out in my mind.

Though, Codemasters just could provide better options to make them more worthy.
Filter options would do the trick. For leaderboards and for exclusion of certain cars.

Or optional weight handicap. But I don't know, if the manufacturers would be ok with that, probably not.

Them? It's just Steep. It's the same thing. Riders Republic added in bikes and a larger map with dirt trails and stuff for said bikes. It's literally Steep 2 with a completely different name for no reason. It seems like someone at Ubi thought people would be confused by having a series that adds stuff about mountain sports.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would love to see US Short Course off-road racing in a Dirt Rally game.

Pro2 and Pro4 style trucks have appeared in less serious Dirt titles, but I would love to see them get a realistic representation in the same way that rallycross has in DiRT Rally 1 & 2.0...

...that said, I wouldn't want them to come at the expense of rally or rallycross content!

The leagues/clubs system might be updated to allow better filtering/selection of cars though.

I still think it'd be cool to race them on the rally courses.

Well, I wouldn't mind to have those aswell 😄 I think a reason why the 1.6L also might not be in the game, is because of the R5 cars who are very similar.

As long its not the "Concept car". Add a S2000 wing, and you might be able to add it to the R5 class aswell.

This car was in DR1 indeed, but as the MK6 R5 has the facelifted front, than both spec would be possible imo.

Think there are quite a few important cars missing from the 2.0L class. Also its my favorite class 😄

That's my suggestion to add filters/multiclass to the game. So you can configure a club that allows for example:

Group A:
- Lancer Evo 6
- Ford Escort Cosworth
2000cc
- S5 Impreza
- 2001 Focus
- 2001 Impreza
- 2001 206
F2
- Seat Ibiza
- Peugeot 306 Maxi
- Renault Clio Williams
- VW Golf

The Lancer Evo VI is a Group A but just because the rules allowed it. Like, Gr.A car could not have sequential gearboxes and stuff like that. Mitsubishi had a waiver to create a WRC at least until 2001, so they remained with the Gr.A until then. But the car was a hybrid, so, it would be fair to have it on the under 2000cc.

I would part it like:

Gr.2 - Fulvia, Mini, DS21

Gr.4 - Escort, 131, Stratos, Ascona, Alpine, R5 Turbo, Kadett, 240Z

Gr.B_2wd - M1, 911 SC, 037, Manta

Gr.B_4wd - Quattro, T16, S4, 6R4, RS200

Gr.A - Cossie, Delta, Impreza'95, Legacy
Gr.A_2wd - Sierra, M3, 205 and Golf
2000cc_early - Impreza'98, Evo6, Focus'01, 206'01, Impreza'01

2000cc_late - Focus'06, C4, Fabia, Impreza'08

Rally2, Rally4, Kit-Car, NR4, R-GT this is pretty normal

(And of course I would like to see some cars had here and there (more KC, S1600, 1600cc, S2000) and A couple more 2000cc and Gr.A cars

Is anyone else around here interested that they keep the older R5s (Fiesta Mk I and 208 T16) and R2s (Adam, Mk 1 Fiesta, 208 R2)? I am, personally.

Don't take those older R5's and R2's out, especially the Peugeot 208 t16 R5.

I absolutely adore that car! It looks gorgeous and sounds marvelous (in my opinion of course).

Agree, would also see some other cars come back.

A class with Group N / R4 / S2000, kinda this:
- NR4 - Subaru WRX STI (DiRT Rally 2.0)
- NR4 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X (DiRT Rally 2.0)
- S2000 - Peugeot 207 S2000 (DiRT 3)
- S2000 - Abarth Punto S2000 (DiRT 3)
- S2000 - Ford Fiesta S2000 (never made, but give the WRC Fiesta the R5 wing (and maybe some interior) and basically the model is ready)
- N - Subaru Impreza N12 (DiRT 3)
- N - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX (DiRT 2)
- Open - Subaru Impreza N13 USA (DiRT Rally / DiRT 3)
- R4 - Colin McRae R4 (DiRT 3)

Though this is more nice thing than a must thing imo.
