AT LEAST 2 cars?  :p Hoping for the 206, I love that car.

As the most likely appearing car types and makes seems to be pretty clear; why not focussing the gossip on the remainder of the "at least two cars"

keeping soo much fingers crossed for Peugeot 206 WRC as "number 3" and Mitsubishi Evo 6 as "number 4" additional cars  ...any more  2000's class WRCs very much welcome of course...

"At least two" cars from 2001 is pretty awesome to read! So great to see the biggest void (in my personal opinion) from the DiRT 3 car list being filled.

So potentially, that means two (or more) of the following:

Ford Focus RS WRC
Hyundai Accent WRC
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo WRC
Peugeot 206 WRC
Seat Cordoba WRC
Skoda Octavia WRC
Subaru Impreza S7 WRC

Really hoping for the Focus RS WRC 2001 althrough the I prefere the 2002 livery !
Would be amazing if it will be the Subaru Impreza S7 WRC From Burns,

Small notification, Burns Won in 2001 the WRC while McRae was the runner up that year! 2 British legends!

But with the amount of Peugeot in the game, i do feel some where that we are gona get a Gronholm 206 WRC ( what is also really cool) ,... all the cars from the 2001 WRC championship are just amazing xD

The Focus, the 206 and the Impreza. For me, those are the 2001 cars we should get. They have the higher chances based on success on competition and manufacturer presence currently in game.

Since many here know I'm a big Subaru guy, this would be great to see:

1995 555 Subaru McRae livery
2001 Richard Burns
2008 Peter Solberg

Not going to happen but still love to see:
1992 group A Legacy Ari Vatanen
1997 2dr WRC97 Impreza

Did I get names right?  Master @tbtstt

Back on track my prediction:
2001 Impreza
2001 Ford Focus
2001 Mitsubishi

Just to to add a vote for cars already talked about here.

Group A Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 3 would be really great, one of the 555 imprezas biggest rivals

You didn't get them wrong @gfRally but I would have liked to have seen more detail for maximum Subaru nerd points. The highest scoring answer would have been:

I'll give you a solid 8/10 for correct years and drivers though (and for not mentioning a 22B with regards to the 2 door rally car!)

Nice to hear about (at least) we'll have two earlies 2000's cars. I would prefer more Group A cars, but it's a good choice too.
Changing topic, I hear something about problems with Renault licenses, Rumours or not?

would love some earlier scoobies. had them since 1980s ;D we had 8 in total. last was a rbr320.

 So from the old table

Rally Group A
- Ford Escort RS Cosworth - Subaru Impreza 1995 - Lancia Delta HF Integrale - Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205

ST205 licensing problem.Probably completed

I'm really happy about the upcoming cars. and other stuff . Anyway, I feel very sorry that there are licensing problems in DR with a car brand, that had such an impressive impact in the history of World Rallying: TOYOTA.

Dont know if the licensing issue has been discussed more in detail about Toyota here, but if not pls @KickUp  could you at least mention a few words about this, we had Toyota in many CMR Rally Titles and even in Dirt 3 still. So it's quite hard to understand, why a brand should suddenly be so reluctant to refuse licensing on this ultimate rally Sim. Would appreciate any more detail here.

Early 2000 WRC cars were so much cooler than today's garbage. This'll be fun!
The notoriously luckiest "Sire" Ogier is pretty satisfied with the garbage he is "winning" titles with... What a joke! Seriously, what kind of cars are those when electronics dominated the field? Rallying today still misses that keen competition that put all the drivers into action with all they got without relying on the cars' electronic assists.

I remember McRae dominating Australian stages which are narrow and tricky with a manual gearbox and a clutch pedal.

Aside from this, I'm asking CM for the possibility of  HD remaking the classic rally games in the near future. That would be fun of course.

Licensing isn't always about a company not wanting to be in the games.

Money is part of it too, they could want more that the budget allows for.  Companies may want more control than the Devs want to give up (ie unrealistic handling).

This could be the reasons why we see other Devs get them in the game, besides deep pockets, games like NFS And Forza titles don't really "give up" much for difficult handling cars.  They mostly have generic handling anyhow and a manufacturer will see them as more of a TV ad, especially with their showroom intros and so on.

About the electronic assists:
From "article 255a (2015) - specific regulations for wrc (page 5)" states that: "Any electronic driving aid system is prohibited (ABS/ASR/EPS...)"

Rumours based on them being included in an early build, accidentally released and then removed an hour later.

There's been radio silence in the matter since, but Paul's recent Tweet on the matter gives hope...

Spot on, the current cars are by no means easy to drive and they are doing so at even more insane speeds than Group B (and getting quicker). Ogier might make it look easy, just as Loeb did, but that doesn't mean he deserves any less respect (for his driving) than any of his more revered predecessors IMO.

The Toyota license issue has been talked to death on the forum already.

What I meant by the electronic assists is that the mechanical components have transformed into electronic which means that the car helps the driver to maneuver it easily at high speeds. You know safety is keenly considerable these days unlike the golden days.
