Not right on topic, but I am wondering if Milestone has lost the license for making the WRC-games. The previous years, the news on the upcoming game has come in May or June, so far we have heard nothing about a so-called WRC5. Could it be that Codies have got hold of it? If so, GREAT!
Nah. If you google "wrc 4 announce" it was announced 26th Jul 2013. So some way to go yet. They have just released a motogp sim on the PS4 as well, so they move their engine to next gen. I think they have licence for more copies based on this :

Here's the official press release:

http://www.bigben-interactive.co.uk/media/ressources/corporate/communiques/2013-2014/uk/PR_13-07-24_CP_WRC4-Acquisition_FIA_World_Rally_Championship.pdf

BigBen Interactive took over the license from Black Bean Games, who had it previously. Milestone developed the games for both.

I'd be surprised if the WRC license was just for 1 year alone (or maybe not, if they were seeing how well WRC4/WRC Powerslide sold before deciding on whether to renew it). One thing's for sure; if they did only have it for 1 year then it'd expire by the end of July, maybe that's why Dirt4 news is being delayed?

That said, Codemasters has licensed the cars from the WRC teams directly in the past, not needing the full WRC license, so it might be a moot point...

Dirt 3 was a great game - no wrc licence required IMO.

Save the money and spend it on more devs to make tracks for us to race on !

There may as well be tumble weeds blowing through here...  I once heard there is calm before a storm.. BUT that calm is usually short lived.  So guys, start coughing up some info!    >:/
Don't forget about F12014!  :P

But... If there is any storm close, I would prefer a DiRTy one!

They did had some WRC licence at DiRT 3, the WRC Focus, fiesta and C4 had the official WRC liveries and cars.
I do think that ERC or WRC licence make a rally game more valuable!

Although for example Colin McRae Rally 2005 didn't had the official WRC licence and liveries and still was a good game,
Only it missed something... and i think that was the authentic rally feeling ( for example by real liveries.

I've said it in other threads, but I personally think its possible to make a good rally game without the WRC license.

For me, the inclusion of World Rally Cars is vital though: the absence of so many modern classics was the biggest failing of DiRT 3 (in my opinion ;) ).

^ Yeah, I would be pretty disappointed if we don't get the current WRC lineup of VW, Hyundai, Citroen and Ford. Not too fussed about the license as it wasn't needed in D3, but a good selection of varied cars and classes is essential.

Agreed! Real cars and real liveries gives an authentic atmosphere. It would be awesome if Codies got the chance to make the official WRC game, but they have proved themselves very competent even if there is no license. I'd like to see real world locations, but stages "based on a true story" would suffice. For me a game that is enjoyable goes before ultra realism.

Hello all!

I'm back under a gentle name as the forums wanted me to change it... hopefully I'll be able to have it returned to the usual handle.

I don't think this was posted yet:

While it's not a surprise that the team are working on improving how WRC cars handle in the game (with or without full WRC licence) this may be a hint that the Hyundai i20 WRC will be in the next game?

Oh boy
It seems to me that the F1 game is next in line for an announcement. Some of @Hatta 's tweets hint imminent release of F1 game news... That's good and as I suspected, but it means these calms before DiRT storms we keep on coming up with may last for a while...

Just like @gfRally I'd say the team is hinting at some sort of a driver + co-driver gameplay mode!
I'd be very interested in how that'd would be used: live calling of pace notes when playing online/co-op? Or would it be possible to record your own voice to cover the pace note phrases...?

There were some tweets a while back, which mentioned some sort of a co-driver tool:

I've found the final in the Sweden round of World Rallycross absolutely amazing! I'm hoping that @dirtgame tweets about that championship mean that we'll see partial or fully licenced WorldRX content! :D

This is how BaronVonBlasta (as I think he should be going with until the forum gives him his name back) spends his holidays. Just endless whiteboard theories and metres of red string connected to newspaper cuttings of rally cars.

I've tried BaronVonBlasta but the system wouldn't allow me that name either! :O I've also tried GentleBlast and PleaseMVB.. For some reason GentleNameMVB was accepted ;]

On my big board with red strings I also have spy shots of a super-star car handling designer entering Codies HQ through 'DiRTi gate' while sliding sideways on shoes similar to these: (btw nice ones Lee!)

Paul Coleman was asking if anybody could help him localize a Renault Maxi Megané on Twitter yesterday. Promising! I love that car!

For the people that dont know how the Renault Maxi Megane looks like :

I would love to see a class with all kinds of kitcars, S2000 cars or S1600 cars

Personal favorites:

Renault Clio S1600

And the Peugeot 206 S1600

It would be nice to start with these cars and move up to the better and faster classes in career mode, with variations to classics. Something like is done in GRID Autosport.

I'd prefer prechosen classes over the choose your own class system that was in DiRT 3.

Totally agree with u!,
I would like to see as it was in CMR 04 the different class championship, for example 2wd and 4wd,

But it would be really cool if there where some class championships like the R2,R3,R4 and perhaps the R5 classes like in the ERC, in combination with Group N class and the S2000 class.

I think u got in that case pretty cool cars what u can drive! The RC classes are like this:
