I am looking forward to a bit more purpose to the grind in this game.  The current competitive tiers should make it a whole lot more fun for everyone who plays.

Wonder if the dailies/weekly/monthly Stages will be bespoke to each tier with added length & complexity, or the same for all?  I feel that either the stages need to be different for each level, or the car performance/driver aid needs to differ from tier to tier that you run the stage with.  Progression would feel more rewarding than just finishing fastest in a lower tier on the ladder if the tiers had differentiation.  Then your achievement would feel more valid
@Hatward is the man to answer that question.

Not sure if this been raised but is it possible to split the audio on the PS4? I have the idea of using my headphones for pace notes via the headphone jack on the pad and then my surround sound (I tried it ages ago but it didn't work and don't have my surround set up at the moment) for the rest of the effects.
Would it be possible to implement in Dirt 4, it could really imo add to the immersion.
It's a great question and we believe it would be possible but we are not allowed to do it.

@KickUp (sorry to ask this again) Is there any possibility to see you providing realistic FFB (maybe even including, profiler etc.) Settings for wheel you have a support.
It would be a great thing for a player to be provided with most realistic FFB & wheel settings, that have been calibrated with real life drivers.
His would mean that players (like me) who don't have any real racing experience can trust that they are getting most realistic experience their wheel model can provide.
It could be shipped with game or just make a blog post or similar after release
@KickUp
I somehow managed to make this above text to sound like a rant. What i meant was just to ask that is there any plans to provide players a maybe a somekind of suggested "realistic behaviour" setup & settings for different wheel models concerning Force Feedback, to get most out of your newly enhanced physics etc. Upgrades.

Edit: Don't worry everyone, won't ask this again in this topic :D

Will it be possible with pc ?

They probably can't do it because spitting channels could make it easier for someone to rip the audio.

Harder for us because everyone's hardware is different.
E.g. It might need two sound cards

Can we replace the historic RWD cars current handling model with this one & scale the rest up to suit?  This looks spot on as far as movement goes, for an 8v Mk2 Escort in a Welsh forest (dunno who the guy is but he's having fun!)

If you have surround sound, you can split the center channel off to a headphone.  I believe center is only used for voice (i.e. codriver)

Iv just had a quick go at that car/stage combo with dashcam view & plenty of rotation angle on the wheel.  It is immense...

Chasing times on DiRT Rally muddies the experience.  Poor ole Porkhammer seems to have lost all enjoyment in his gaming of late.  Bonnet cam and low rotation are most competitive, but not as enjoyable a Driving Experience.  I had kinda slipped into that mode too lately - forgot how good the game was when you park the clock!

You should consider disabling exterior cam & no less than 540degrees in the simulation no assists mode (I forget its planned name - Fearless?).  Why not suggest that the 'simulation' players actually enjoy the awesome detail?

Ah that is true
Then you can probably do it with stereo sound using Mid/Side splitting.. although that's a different story.
Also works quite well for me atleast just using a pair of in-ear headphones, helmet, and cranking the s**t up from my speakers..

In Your Stage set up, will there be numbers next to the sliders?
(something like this)
Length:   [___________<__>______]   8.3 km
Difficulty: [___<__>______________]   20%
No because they do different things in different locations ;)
So different locations are gonna have different max lengths?

That won't work. That would require people to have a 900° wheel just to play the fearless mode. I'm pretty sure the majority will be controller and keyboard players and out of the wheel players the majority has 200°-270° wheels, so by making it 540° or more, only a small fraction of the player base could even play it.
There were some furious debates about this topic a year or so ago, I just don't think it's a good idea.

Locking anything in game by hardware that isn't a graphical option is a stupid move (graphical stuff usually requires the specific hardware to even work). You're literally paying for the game and are denied the access to gameplay features because you don't have some piece of hardware that in many cases is more expensive than the consoles that can run the game...

Even Pay2Win ain't as stupid of an idea as that is.

I agreed to Kev's post, but not the locking out of options part.  Kev has posted that kind of ask before, but it comes from a narrow focused field of use, that everyone has a wheel of a certain spec, it's an interesting idea, but not one that would come close to working without everything having a console-like experience, all with wheels.

Forcing things is never a good thing. People all want to play in different ways.

Only in Sim Fearless mode though, or a section within it.  You could still have choice to not use it.  It was just a thought, not a demand.  It wouldn't affect keyboard or pad players at all, they don't have wheel angle.  I did pluck 540 out of thin air in fairnesss.

The point I am making (and did previously) is that DiRT Rally feels better when sitting IN the car with an accurate steering ratio (if it's available to the user on their hardware).

Its been rightly said, iv been involved in this kind of 'should we shouldn't we' discussion last year, & submitted to bonnet cam & low Saturation on a 900deg wheel just to keep up with the leaderboard times.  But I can assure you, from my own experience driving both ways, that the 'fastest way' in DiRT Rally looses so much immersion & so much fun factor.

The word 'unfair' often comes up if the game locks certain options, as it's hardware discrimination.  I get that.  But it's AS bad when someone has the hardware that's capable of running the game as a true simulation, but is forced not to 'just to keep up'.

Global timing is possibly the ruination of a game, but unfortunately essential to it also!  :(

Waaaaay down the line, YourStage could be further developed to allow user selectable tiles with basic manipulation options.  The community could literally start recreating any world stage layout they choose.  Those days really aren't that far away, if a studio decides to do it!
This is in our long term plan.
THIS is the best news I've read. Maybe something with dirt 4? I said this long ago before dirt rally came to console. If ps1 can do it, modern consoles can do it. Ps1 let you make any turn you wanted as sharp as you wanted. The only limitation was stage length and no overlapping. You controlled the elevation and everything. As well as location and I think season. Id even be happy to have it as a $30 dlc if we could have similar freedom. And definitely if we could upload those tracks to those who didn't have the dlc. There could be a reward for people who make the most like rally stages.

@KickUp
Can you guys do a video or something in the next Road Book explaining the concept of aquiring our cars through Classified Ads? Sounds really neat.

Id like to see how much depth is there, as well as how much depth there will be in upgrading and customizing (aesthetically and mechanically) our beaters turned beasts!
Where was this mentioned? Sorry I can't read through every reply. And I don't know what's been mentioned or what hasn't yet.

Thank you

Surely paying for a game that you know you don't have the hardware for, is the true definition of...

oh, never mind!  :D

@Hatward could possibly segregate the tiers based on view/assists?  Was there not an achievement unlock for manual interior no assists?
