Message added by PJTierney,

Did you know that the long-time members of this thread have had a DiRTy Gossip Discord server for a while?

You do now 😉

Petty arguments and pot-shots don't benefit anyone, I recommend you all take a breather for a while 🙂

@chrisjaf Thanks for the livery feedback. An editor is not in the plans for DiRT Rally 2.0 but if we're doing any future "original liveries" yours and everyone else's feedback is taken into consideration.

thank you pj,a little bit more creativity is all is needed.

providing constructive criticism is what's needed. calling the game a buggy mess and the makers incompetent just means nobody takes you seriously, because it's obviously wrong.

sure, the liveries need work (a lot of it in some cases), but it's not that simple to "just" add an editor into the game hahaha

you misunderstand me i don't want a livery editor, just a little more creativity and imagination like other peoples posts on forums, and devs to spend that valuable time on the buggs in the game so the game can be what we all want it to be.the game play is the main part that needs work so let the devs do that instead of liveries that are only a small part of the game.get the basics right then work on the fine details.

*sigh*

That's not how game development works. The people making liveries are not the ones who work on game engine stuff. 'Developers' are not an undifferentiated, interchangeable mass, they have specialist skills, and are a limited resource. There are other games that need more attention than DR2 at the moment.

you asked for a livery editor 2 hours ago:

just add livery editor to game instead of wasting devs time so they can get on with fixing the game !!!!!!!!!!!!! liveries more important than fixing the game ?.

and you implied that the people who make liveries are the same as the ones that fix bugs. which is just hilariously wrong.

i ask for them to fix the game.and your saying those same devs don't have work to do no the game itself as in graphics and scenery art department come on behave yourself sonny.the livery editor was a suggestion in response to the lack of imagination in codies offerings and not de facto you must implement it at once,if only it was that easy the game would be AMAZING,

Good god. Here's something completely different.

In a bit of self reference...

I'm not very good with the Forza editor, and I don't know how to make it look more "froggy." I still enjoy it though.

Hmm, that last picture is kind of blurry, but I do like the rather annoyed looking Vipers.

Forza's editor is great (I've used it myself), it's also a remarkable piece of tech that takes tons of work to not only implement but convince licensors is okay to use.

That's outside of the scope of DiRT Rally 2.0, but who knows what the future may bring.

What isn't outside the scope of this game are the Group B Rallycross cars; I've got word that they should be live for everyone on all platforms now, so get out there and throw some sideways action 😄

I was self referencing to when stutterbstetst said it was an ugly car and I said it looks like a frog. Otherwise it's basically just a project from view. The usable resolution along with total layer count has increased significantly. The original Forza I think was only something like 100 layers per panel and the "texel" resolution was pretty low so things were blurry, especially if they were angled. Now I'm using pixel accuracy on a 4k tv and its got like 3000 layers per panel.

Also fun fact, that' my buddys Xbox since I have PC and PS4, and he just walked in when I had the words "Daddy love" done. He doesn't get the reference.

Yeah, F1 2019 🤣

i think Dirt Rally 2 has improved a hell of a lot since release. The patches since since PJ arrived were also a lot more effective at tackling the higher priority issues with the game. May have been a coincidence. Ffb, blurry ps4 graphics and AI all fixed within close proximity of each other. The first few patches back in march and april fixed minor things like font and in game text.

PJ is doing a superb job, but i don't think it was his arrival that got fixed the FFB and blurry ps4 graphics, those issues were fixed before, AFAIK... We have to give credit to the development team, the patches are rolling at a somewhat slow pace, but the team is working on it, and steadily fixing the main issues...

a) they're working on stuff, chill. most of the big issues are done. go look at the bug reporting threads. off the top of my head:

AI is better.

FFB is better.

graphical issues are fixed.

loading times are faster.

rain effects are better

clubs are in

b) keep in mind most of the people working on the game got moved over to F1 2019 and now (probably) Grid. there probably aren't too many scenery people left for example.

c) the game isn't a mess like you claim.

The first update I was involved in relaying community feedback for was 1.6.

I joined just as Season 2 started (205 RX and RS200 RX).

social media channels are basically business advertising. i dont even look at them as contact platforms or even random gossips . just lets sell whatever. did see today a lot of posts on the subject you talking about. it is sometimes frustrating for me especially when i look at social media platforms. see what they doing often for no other reason that to sell a item. or promote it . also for eg with dirt rally 2.0 pictures being the big thing promoting the game with a tool we dont even have in game. its like we dont want to add a photo tool in the game but we will market our game and promote every picture of the game with the tool to make money. :classic_biggrin: having suggested for close to 2 years probably saying this then seeing the pictures used with said tool i do get frustrated.

I'm not trying to sell anything with the community photos in particular. I just think they're awesome and want to put the "social" back into our Social Media channels 😉

People on the team are certainly taking notice of those screens though, in various ways that may or may not have future game implications 🙂

Don't you guys forget there may be a big batch of the DiRT Team busy with the VR implementation. Everyone forgets that little big detail when complaining about late patch rollouts.

I may be wrong on this statement, as in it's whatever sponsor that is developing the VR implementation instead of the DiRT Team. But combine that with the fact that F1 2019 just got released, plus GRID development is at full gas to get released and there you get the answer for the delays on some bug fixes.

A fact is, patches have been rolling out in a constant pace and they've been ironing out the game considerably so far. There's still a lot to fix but I'm sure we'll get there. More importantly: it's being done. It's not like there's radio silence about it anymore.

DiRT4 didn't get half of the attention, and apparently it's the main title (although the Rally spin-offs have been destroying the main series).
