Euhm, YES! If that's the case ---> TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Having worked in the sim and gaming industry I can tell you this always cracks me up when a client says similar stuff like "I'll pay for it".   Then when the numbers cross 20,000USD they are nowhere to pay the quote .  😛    I think people generally have no idea how much some things would end up costing them.  Whether it is licensing or just paying dev time.

Nothing personal, just a general statement on customer awareness.

Yeah, 1 person saying they'll pay for something, that's all well and good but really you need an argument of 20,000+ people saying it, and the stakeholders/licensors being on-board too.

Heck for all you know the powers that be may have tried already and for whatever reason couldn't get said car in the game. This has happened with various manufacturers in the fact, not only in Codies titles but also any other racing game you can think of. Cast your mind a few years back to when Porsche was only in Need for Speed.

the good thing now is with EA in the mix this may open a lot of doors. hopefully that is the case. many iconic cars and brands and events should be in dirt . look forward to many of that coming true. in the future.

Talking of Michele Mouton, we need either the Quattro A2 or the S1, or both (besides at least one Volvo :classic_laugh:). She was tough and gave Röhrl a hard time back then.

Knowing that a new DiRT Rally game might be on the horizon makes me really excited and thirsty for at least some teasers and hints etc.

I was just messing guys. I could only see this happening from two (dreamy) perspectives. Either EA as Polyphony Digital pocket money or we will get M, O, Double D, ING! In any case... nope. And to be fair I would like to see the team spend resources on something else. Yeah, I do have my favourite cars, classes, etc, but... a favourite car isn't anything.

Anyway, for me, if they get 5/6 Rally2 cars (Fiesta, C3, Fabia, Polo, i20 (and Proton maybe)), the 4 Rally4 cars (208, Corsa, Clio, Fiesta), the Rally3 Fiesta and a handful of R-GT ( Porsche, AM, Abarth, Lotus and the Alpine) I will be more than happy. I would have the Rally5 Fiesta and Clio as I don't like to begin with the freakin Mini (or Fulvia).

All modern classics or classics are just memorabilia for our minds. Yeah, depending on which year we are born, we all have the taste for this or that car, that class. For me, that was born in the late 80's, the first memories I do had from rallying are from the first-gen WRC, so yeah, I do like them all a lot. I also do like cars that filled my imaginary when I went with my dad to see them race in Portugal (the 306 and Megane Maxi and the Saxo and Punto KC) but I won't be asking for them.

Ohhhh... and just to make you guys jealous, I've already raced in a 306 Maxi and a Saxo Kit-car 😛

I did try Dirt 5 for the week end and i can confirm that is a good kind of racing game!

I found some interesting cars like Clio Williams and Abarth 124.
I hope Codemasters will make them available as DLC cars for Dirt Rally 2.0!
I should pay for all of them, because i love them both and both are missing from Dirt Rally 2.0 a lot.

I don't think Codies will do anything else for 2.0, but let's hope the licensing is extending to the next rally game

Good stuff! I don't know who says that you can't get sideways in RWD on tarmac but it is obviously possible. I think Mike Dee also posted a demonstration of how it's done with the Mustang in Spain. I'm no 'no-assists fanatic', everyone should use whatever works for them, but maybe too much TCS prevents the rear end of their car to step out. You don't even need high powered cars either, so I'd always double-check what people claim on the internet.

Ah I had almost forgotten about that Mustang Hoonigan mode drift setup for Spain 😅 You can definitely have fun in RWD and slide them around a great deal in DR2, but TCS and other stuff would quickly put a stop to it. I won't get into if the RWD handling is "proper" since most of my sim-racing experience is in Rally so I'm biased, but to me I can definitely feel the cars when I YEET them into a corner and can slide that Opel Kadett, BMW E30, or 400 around corners with a grin going from ear to ear. They feel much better sliding on gravel or snow to me too, or at least more predictable. Tarmac physics in DR are a little "quirky" to begin with though...

I agree with the sentiments, expressed here by some, regarding the car list: it shouldn't be which cars do we need to clear to bring new ones. It's keep everything (yes, even the older R2/R5 cars) and then add more. Let's make this next game a sort of GT/Forza of rally, regarding the breadth of the car list.

Ironically, Porsche may or may not be present.

That's technically also part of his job 😄

Jokes aside; no dev team these days wants to reveal too much too early, as the consequences of letting people know too much and then making changes, cutting things, corrections and so on have too many political consequences.  It was hard enough for them to recover the reviews on DR2.0 last time around with FFB freakouts, DLC freakouts, tarmac freakouts and lets not forget no VR no buy.

Also why would the community manager know the exact numbers of people in office A vs office B and changes in between.  The way it works in these larger companies is most people don't know the count unless they're upper management and HR.   Just saying, most of the stuff we're asking they can't really let us know, they will release most info according to their plans.

Not saying we can't ask, but lets understand what's happening.

That are some nice additions meantioned above. May I add some Dakar stuff. Those dessert machines are fantastic and if you guys could add some stages in that spirit with a few of those cars (3008DKR I look at you) , it would be much appreciated from my side.

Still on my wishlist:

- Peugeot 504 (sedan and coupé)

- Peugeot 406 F2000

- Peugeot 309 GTI

- Peugeot 505

- Peugeot 208 R4

But besides that, I just had my first expérience in Scotland. Those stages are simply stunning and offer a real challenge 🙂

First post on this forum after mainly lurking over the past few month. Been enjoying the discussion on wanted new additions to DR3.

My main wish, though probably unlikely to happen, is to drive a Toyota Celica ST185 & 205 and Corolla on an old school Safari Rally race. If DR3 brings in Dakar or Extreme E, maybe the Safari Rally wish will come true 🤩

What are folks thoughts on adding Dakar or the new Extreme E to DR3? Or is the game already good enough with rally and rallycross? Given how massive Dakar is in size, seem unlikely, but Extreme E could be plausible if it gets popular. Having two to three long, long stages in the desert or on Kenyan terrain would be extremely fun.

It would be difficult anyway with long Dakar stages.

Besides I like it as it is now, for me no extra's are necessary. I was glad the Pikes Peak was left out at dr2. Not because these extra's are not nice but better 1 thing good (ok 2 with rx added) as the effort spread out over different disciplines.

And yeah, Dakar rally should have a game on its own.

I think PJ would love to tell us more just as much as we'd love to know where things stand with the next DiRT Rally game.

Btw, if you like the Dakar Rally, a Dakar Rally game does exist.

MRW my friends go on about politics - Album on Imgur

In unrelated news, Riders Republic (aka Steep 2) was supposed to launch in February and has been indefinitely delayed with no footage, photos, or anything since reveal announcement. Games are getting more and more "Give us your money but we're not even going to show anything about it first."

In the meantime, I recommend everyone to download RBRHU at www.rallysimfans.hu ! Richard Burns rally is a totally different game now with the NGP6 physics. I've been playing it for the past couple of days in VR and it's great fun. There are loads of stages included with the plugin, and everything is free. Enjoy!

That sounds like a saying to me: "Even if the monkey wears silk, the monkey stays...". RBR is already very out of date, and no matter how much you try to improve, with that base you can not do miracles. But, it is respectable to anyone who likes it. Regarding DR2, although I am Spanish, I fully agree with you in the cars I would like to see in DR3 ( or whatever you call it).

It would be nice to have these models:

Yo veo por lo menos tres protitipos ai mi amigo.

Regarding RBR, I think it's a forbidden door in here xD But it's a testament when you do things well how long they can last (and how the company failed miserably and the game is basically freeware since 2006)!!

And, I said I wouldn't say anything regarding the wishlist, but for me, this is basically what I want:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrYbfH4OtRU&ab_channel=Video2rallye83

Proper tarmac physics, fantastic mountain roads (CMR2.0 had France and Italy and they were fantastic) and a bunch of loud ass Kit-Car to run them.

I'll get crucified by this, but, when you nail a tarmac stage... it's just *muah*! Tarmac is way more challenging than gravel... (sorry, not sorry)

Holy **** the pictures.

Please tell me this is something lost in translation because I have no freaking clue what that's possibly supposed to mean.

I think it's less about doing it well and more about being easy to mod. Not a lot of racing games allow modding, and ever fewer rally games. DR1 and 2 get boring pretty quick with only a handful of super locked down tracks. Meanwhile there's "dirt" mods for AC, but they suck.
