Apparently, with enough boost pressure and RPM the boxer engine loses its typical 'boxer sound'. If I close my eyes and just listen to the sound, I wouldn't say it'a a boxer.

It's even length headers that do that, not sure about boost contributing though.

Must be why it's not burned to a crisp. Remember when he intentionally drove his Escort into a rock just in an attempt to kill his co-driver?

You're really good at the facebook comments section stuff - there's such a thing as too much 'if-therefore-that-because-this' stuff.

The WRC Fiesta that isn't actually a WRC Fiesta.

American Rally regs are weird.

R5? WRC? Whatever SUBARU are making? Sure, go ahead!

I think they have been left very open to try and encourage entries. If the surge in R5 entries is the start of something in ARA, then I wonder if they will refine the rules more (or rather align them closer with FiA regulations).

I speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

You can't handle the truth!

^Ditto.

Seems likely he's out with ford, so now his shop is more openly available to whatever he wants, or maybe he's partnering with a new manufacturer. Either way, he's been with Ford a while and seems the type to try out a bunch of cars. Has he stated who he's partnering with?

He drove a Skoda Fabia in the recent rally.

I do like how he's sponsored by Toyo Tires and as such has to blacken out the Pirelli logos on the actual wheels of the car 😄

Some things never change. Crashing within a minute of the start in Scotland? Of course.

By the way, I want random overanalyzing of this video just to find some Gossip... what is that map in the background?

We know what the date is!

Yeah, if you really want to fool people you have to do it like VW did with their 'Voltswagen' announcement just a few days before April 1st.

Why wouldn't he just use Toyo tires?

I could be proven wrong, but I think the Skoda outing was more of a convenience rather than the sign of a new partnership.

He doesn't have to have a partnership, he's just no longer in the long-term Ford partnership.

Many race series have a series tyre so you have to use it, but if you have a personal sponsorship, then at least in promo shots, you'd likely do what he did here in the photo.

Pirelli is the supplier for at least WRC and R5 cars in the championship since this year.
I read that just a few days ago somewhere.

Don't think so. It's an ARA event so I don't think that rule applies here (in fact, ARA has a partnership with Cooper and Hoosier tires, so I don't think they are enforcing competitors to use Pirelli)

My best bet is that since it is a McKenna car, and Barry has been running the Fabia on Pirellis, Block just sticked to them (or maybe Toyo doesn't have a tire fit for the Fabia, something I doubt)

You know what, i think you're right, i don't think Toyo have a gravel tyre.

If you want be competetive at this level you have to use tires from Pirelli or Michelin. There is also MRF trying to do their best to try to get into the market but it is not an easy task to fight with those giant companies with all their knowledge, eperience etc. From 2021 official tire supplier for WRC and all support categories is Pirelli so there is no other option to choose. If you do local rallies you can choose whatever you want but it needs to be accepted by regulations.

Thanks man! I instantly knew that I'd use that picture of an inch perfect line as a thumbnail.

I really did get that close without touching the thing. I was proud of that!

Same with the left-hander during my pass through the fast right-left combo at 4:45 in the video. Didn't touch the wall there either! It was close though.
