breaking news!

first solid DiRT4 news
@Rallycameraman wondering if the dirty Mitsubishi Lancer WRC05 is on the list  o:) * troll troll* lol
Also wondering if the Peugeot 206 will be there xD

But to be honest i do hope the most at all the R2 ,R3 R5 and WRC cars like we have them now in the ERC and WRC, just to make a career mode like the WRC ultimate team more challenging then just a bunch of random cars.

After all that that will make the gameplay much longer and more fun!

Doubt that they will have that many Lancia's in the game.
Yeah, they have only won the constructors championship 10 times... Why on earth would we include them. (For the record Subaru, Mitsubishi, Ford and Toyota combine have 10 as well.)

To exclude Lancia is to exclude historic rally.

Lets hope License money is spent on all the above cars (Ford included, blah!) and not these BMW Z4, Chevy Camaro, or the Mustang that ended up in DiRT3.  I know this was more of 'fun' cars to have, but the time and money that was wasted on these cars could have been better used on something else more significant to rally.  Hopefully they have been able to license a few different manufactures this time around (keeping the real rally ones they have already).

I don't have a problem with Hill climb cars in the game if we have some popper hill climb tracks.. I also have no issue with the party modes returning, but that said I totally agree.. If afer a bunch of rally I need something mindless I can have as much fun playing outbreak in a cool old Lancia as I can playing it in an ill handeling tuner car with an 8 foot tall wing on the back.

I would much rather do the Party Modes with rally cars too

And yes @ThierryNeuville‌ I hope for Lancer WRC05 too, and 206 WRC! Just need the manufacturers to play ball really.

Let's talk party modes then,

What do you want?

Guess "beer" isnt the right answer :P

But I would rather see a co-up team mode championship ( Story mode ) then a real party game.

But I think a party mode would also be nice for some relaxing, to be honest,

So perhaps ( thinking really out of the box) Some kind of quiz thing mode about the world of rallying would perhaps fun?
Or drive as far as possible on a small amout of fuel,.. ? How fast can u drive with a 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 flat tires?
or things like that?

I think a party mode is not that easy for a rally/race game.

Outbreak and Cat and Mouse are both a blast when it is time for some mindless fun.

Any car any track outbreak would be a nice touch.. It would be very cool to stagger the cars out on the rally stages to start an outbreak as well instead of having them all start at the beginning of the stage. - It would also be nice, to give the option to have full damage on in any game mode. Outbreak is a bit different game with full damage.

I was a fan of transporter too, but I am in the minority there. But I can still log in anytime of day and find an outbreak online, so I would love to see a focus on making that even more robust.

I wanted to hate the party modes... but they are one of the most enjoyable bits of DiRT 3! Good fun and a great way to really get to grips with the cars.

Outbreak definitely gets my vote (with the full range of cars available for use please). Transporter is fun and I think is worth of inclusion if possible. I have barely played Invasion, so I wouldn't miss that if it didn't make the transition.

Outbreak is a lot of fun on rally tracks as long as people don't abuse the ability to go off track and reset. The round just needs to be long enough that you have to turn back at some point. Any vehicle type is fun (though buggies are buggy - the nerf bars don't score a hit).

I mean hypothetically of course, I because thats not built in the game, and doing so would require some sort of mod running in the background)

I wanted to hate the party modes too, but after some racing, there is nothing better than C&M or outbreak with a good group of folks who have mics.)

Never thought about co driver mode, but in theory you could do it now. Teamviewer to a friends rig and read him your pace notes. Then prepare for him to spout profanity at you, because the crash could not possibly be his fault, it was undoubtedly you poor notes, lousy cadence and total misdirection to him.

Back to outbreak for a moment.

Get rid of the blurry edges on the screen for the infected car.  It renders triple displays useless.

I guess it is supposed to be a disadvantage for the infected car, but personally, I don't think the infected car needs a disadvantage.

I also thought that I'd never play the Party modes in DiRT 3, but Cat & Mouse was simply brilliant. My favourite two scenarios:
- you are the Mini in front and your team is protecting you well, you have the satisfaction that the other Mini is getting tortured
- you are the Ford RS200 and you torture the Mini so bad it's halfway through the stage while the other one is about to finish

Pure satisfaction.

I also liked Outbreak and Transporter, but they were more suited to open areas like Battersea. Hopefully, the next game will have plenty of rally locations so implementing the Cat & Mouse would be cheaper to develop or implement than the other modes.

But then again if I was given a choice between a rally location/set of cars and a Party mode I'd personally go for the rally/RX content...

Maybe have party modes based around a 'rally school' map? Then you'd have a decently sized map with a few different possible routes in it that you can use for serious purposes or fun games. And for two distinct uses from just one area, which I expect people will make use of for both purposes, it's probably a good investment.

Also, I'm new to this theread, although I've been following it for a while, so hi!

*Comes home, sees there have been 17 new comments, thinks something cool has happened, realises it's just people talking about party modes. leaves disapointed*

in all seriousness, party modes were great for mindless fun, and the aforementioned any car any track is a must, even if it there is no AI. Because who hasn't ever wanted to take the Suzuki SX4 down the Col de Turini :scream:

It's not a "game mode", but I'd really like to see another "compound" area in the next version, with a race editor for making really intricate races, similar to the Speed Runs that were in Dirt 3.
Those were my favorite part of Dirt 3, but there weren't nearly enough of them in the game, and the ones the game did have were too short.

something simple I keep thinking about is a jump contest, maybe on dirt, maybe on ramps.

maybe allow user to input both height and angle on both take off and landing ramps?

the point would be hight, distance and perfect landing.

maybe im just a child at heart thinking about stuff like this!

That would be a riot.. and of course the logical conclusion to that is to attempt mid air collisions in multiplayer.  Wait I mean to do skilled over under and cross over jumps in multiplayer..   .... ... .. Ya, that's what I meant.

Yeah, fully agreed on using a rally school area for party games. I actually thought that Battersea was a bit underused in DiRT 3: it would have been great to have been able to shakedown the other cars in that environment.

Oh, and hello!

March 25th release date?

https://twitter.com/ponchobillybob/status/543332232757514240

I seem to remember we've arrived at March release date going by clues in the past, but I can't find it...
There was a hint towards January couple of weeks ago, but bearing in mind we're halfway through December without any announcements it's not gonna happen.

January announcement, March release?

OH! And this:

https://twitter.com/justbiglee/status/543160089168076800

Could this be a logo for the next game? :O A triangle in a triangle?

I am not optimistic we are going to have any Christmas gifts for ourselves.  If we got an announcement at the end of Jan, and it rolled out at the rate Autosport did, March would make sense.

I think autsport was announced April 22 and released in late June.

So Jan 28 and March XX would make sense.

Is that a real photo or CGI ? I can't tell.

Surely if its CGI its from the new game. Look at the detail in the background.

It's a screenshot from DriveClub on PS4. It has to be said that the visuals there are rather sweet and weather effects fantastic...

I wonder what kind of a visuals bang have Codies cooked for next-gen? Judging by some dev tweets from the past couple of weeks they seem pleased :)

Thanks !

Quite frankly I'm astonished at Drive Clubs new weather effects. They are absolutely awesome. I think CM might struggle to compete with those, but we shall see !

@gfrally Would the cover be something like this in the case that it is triangles?

But i was more thinking,..... u said triangle,.... my first thought was ... V-Rally (1,2,3)
From the company Eden games,.. what makes the game Test Drive Unlimited,...
would that be a very very very small hint for a world wide big great rally racing game like Test drive Unlimited / and Need for speed, where u can drive through the world and join events? create cars / your team :O :O

:o  dont let your imagine go , this can go anywhere ....

I don't wat to be a kill joy, but I'm pretty sure Driveclub's livery editor is pretty similar to Grid's, in that you can only choose from various patterns and the colours. I'd be highly suprised if the new dirt logo appeared as one of the pickable patterns in Driveclub.
unless....

illuminati confirmed
