I'd love to see a guide on game pad career mode on master difficulty. I just managed to get to this difficulty, but I find myself petty much 20+ secs off pace in most locations. I don't change any setup, I also go with recommended tyre choice etc. I'd love to hear the thoughts of the folks that completed master diff on game pad.

Dont always pick the "recommended" tyre choice because that's not always the recommended choice. You should take softs most of the time on gravel stages because you have service area every 2 stages.

Take wets in Spain if it's wet, otherwise take softs. Same logic for Monte Carlo, take Winter for snowy stages. You'll see your times getting much better with these tyre choices because you have more grip and can push more. The default setup isn't bad, but if you get to learn some tuning aspects it will also help.

Correction, I did the Historics on 100 AI. That's pretty close to Masters though, and I know I'm not the fastest pad player out there.

It's in Historics.

For me I spent most of My Team in Daily Challenges.

Once things settle down a bit life-wise (I'm still settling into my new flat) I want to go back and beat Masters on a pad 😉

It helps that I’m almost exclusively handling DiRT 🙂

Christina took care of DiRT too but was involved in so many other things that Codemasters are looking to hire another person to take care of all those things.

I don’t know.

I do know that Masters AI times were assembled based on real runs from people on the team, so they are beatable by humans.

I was hopping someone notice, but here i am to point out 🙂

at Gordolon - courte montee there is a turn for right side that if you do near miss to the small wall, it hits something invisible. The location is before the first hard left turn.

Haven’t seen much talk about it since the big 1.4 update. There could be something going on but I imagine a lot of the handling and physics guys are busy with GRID right now.

There’s a bunch of those round Monte. Team knows but it’s a case of “can we fit this in while doing everything else that needs doing”.

Yes, thats true.

I try for months now to find a pattern there, but I just don't get it.

Only thing I know is, that there are multiple versions of it.

One version cuts out the sound completely and doesn't come back until I restart the game.

Second version cuts out the sound but comes back as soon as the game has this "freeze picture go-to-loading-moment" but some audio effects are broken then. And that means restarting the game, because it will not fix itself from now.

Third version is like second version, but it fixes everything and no audio effects are broken.

 

From my personal experience, the third version happens by far the most.

Chances, the game fixes itself after a audio cut out in a stage, between 2 stages is by around 75%.

The important moment is this "freeze picture go-to-loading-moment", it is the audio reset point or something.

It always comes with a noise that sounds like you put in/put out a phone connector while wearing the headset.

Also the bug happens only while racing in a rally or rx event, never ever in menu. But game mode or car doesn't matter.

 

But if you stay for a long, long time in the menu, the sound/music starts sometimes to get slower, have to restart then. But I speak about hours of idle here.

 

Thats basically my experience about that bug since release, can't really say it got better.

Sometimes it happens pretty often (had it 3 times in 2 hours last week) or every second day once, wich is more usual.

Are we talking about community events or career? Because a spare tyre can be quite useful in longer rallies. I had to retire once because I punctured the rear right tyre on the Alpine and, because the car has no locking diff, I could barely get up to 40 kph in the top gear, while the rim was spinning like crazy and making sparks.

Both. Only time I would ever consider a spare is for custom club events. We've tested it and you can comfortably go 3 Longs on tarmac with softs, 4 if you are really smart about wear. You will never get an endurance event like that in the normal game, so as long as you always drive to finish and don't do stupid stuff you can get away without any spares.

The part where I have to avoid doing stupid stuff is what gets me...

But is tyre wear actually modelled and dependant on driving style (locking up under braking, sliding...) or does it only depend on the distance driven? The game doesn't give that much information about it, so I never quite figured it out (though using softs all the time except for wets on wet tarmac seems to do the trick).

It does. It's not just distance driven. There's simply no data showing it but several tests have been made. The whole tyre system is very well made and is working as intended, we just need the bugs concerning the spares to be fixed, so that people actually care about taking spares with them.

Everything you do impacts tyre wear and for each individual tyre differently too. Cutting corners, sliding, even your tune putting more pressure on the outside wheels than stock - all of it impacts the wear.

The fact that none of this is actually shown in the menus makes the system seem way less impressive than this though. I mean, I haven't seen a way to check how much wear the tyres have, in the service park it only says "worn"... 

Do you happen to know if tyre temperature is simulated as well?

Yeah the lack of any ui/ux indication to wear rates more than essentially a "good/ok/bad" system is really terrible. Sadly we have to go on feel and experience to get close which leaves a lot of room for error.

 

No idea on the tyre temps, that was one thing we forgot to ask and never got a second chance to get clarification on.

bugs of course need to be dealt with 🙂

however, I'm talking about how the tire wear system is super advanced, but there's no way for players to be aware of that. 

stage degradation is another one.

damage model a third.

FFB too. they put a ton of effort into making it "feel" good. Christina mentioned what they did with it was more like art. but players hated the FFB upon release, and bug fixing time was lost in the first months after release because they had to go back and work on the FFB.

Oh yeah, in that regard I agree with you. The current UI is not making justice to the current features implemented. I would like to have some more time spent in the UI, but I'd rather prioritize the bug list first.

Agreed on tyres.

Drive it like Block and it'll wear more, drive it on heavy gravel Vs light and they'll wear more - try the Escort MK2 on a long Aussie stage containing heavy gravel with soft tyres, and you'll spend the last two sectors sliding a lot more.

season 3 and 4 stuff for sure. the previous list only had enough room for 1 and 2. 

let's break it down with types of stuff we know was on the DLC list for the first two seasons:

6 new locations.

12 new cars.

6 D+ liveries

2 season passes

that's 26 elements total out of 29. the list of season 1-2 DLCs has 3 empty spaces too (which won't be filled by yet-to-released season 2 content). 

makes sense. just don't expect them to have like more stuff than seasons 1+2.

There are actually 37 yet unnamed DLC entries. (https://steamdb.info/app/690790/dlc/)
29 up top, 8 scattered below.
Now let's see what gets such an entry:
- Deluxe edition itself
- every Season as a whole
- every livery pack
- every single car and location

What is left for Season 2: 1x Livery, 2x Car, 2x Location = 5
That leaves us with actual 32 DLC's we know nothing about.

What does a Season minimum need if continued as before: 1x Season itself, 3x Livery, 6x Cars, 3x Location = 13 DLC per Season
And if we get 2 Seasons, we might get 1x Season Pass extra for both, gives a total value of 27 DLCs for two more Seasons.

Now 32 is more than 27. But for 3 Seasons we would need a value of at least 40 DLCs.

So my guess is either they are dropping the Season structure completely as they where until now (unlikely) OR Season 3 and Season 4 will contain more content than the first two and are now officially green-lit.

So Season 3 might contain 9 cars instead of just 6 and Season 4 also 8 cars instead of six. Which would add another 5 DLC and land exactly at the now planned 32 DLCs.

 

Now which content is likely from my Point of View:
Locations (6) : Abu Dhabi RX , South Africa RX, Finland Rally, Greece Rally, plus two unkown: I guess Mexico as a Rally and maybe another RX track, although I hope for two extra Rallies instead,
maybe Ireland or Azores, or Tsumagoi (Snowy Japan), or Tanzania, or Kenya

Millenial: 01 Impreza, 01 Focus, 99 Impreza
Group A: Legacy

Hoping for another tarmac rally. Theres a lot of RX content already, but looks like it's going down that route unfortunately. I personally havent touch any of the RX content yet, it's really in the end of the list.

don't assume all the gaps will get filled. the three unfilled ones at the very bottom below the deluxe edition preorder content have been on the list for 7 months longer than the game has been out, and 6 months longer than the aforementioned d+ stuff. that brings your total to 29, and the last 2-3 could easily be more blank space or car unlocks like the H2 RWD Kadett/Alpine/131.

just because there was a blank list somewhere and you filled it in with all the stuff you wanted doesn't mean anything like what you imagined will actually happen. that path leads to disappointment.

As much as I'd like to see it in game, I'm not convinced by the accuracy of that statement by Bennett. 

I'd really like to see the GRX i20 and DS3 added to the Supercars.

Changing tarmac physics requires rebalancing all of the AI plus changes to other things like tyre wear.

yeah, I know.

but so what? that has no effect on anything I said so not sure why you @ me.

and we'll probably find out season 3 content after Estering RX comes out, just like we found out Season 2 after the release of the German rally. so mid/late-august.

there's also evidence of the Nissan F2 car, the focus 2001, the Peugeot 307, the Impreza 1999 (or 97? don't remember), and Legacy 1992. and of course Finland and Greece are pretty much guaranteed because we want them and they're easy for cm to do compared to making new rally locations from scratch.

as well as the stuff I listed above, I'd like the F2 cars from D4, thé i20 R5 and RX, the GCK Clio RX, and something cool and unexpected... maybe a couple more RGT cars like the Fiat 124 and an Exige/Elise or something?

I don't expect new rally locations, but if we do get some, I don't care about tarmac ones honestly. give me another snow one (I'm Canadian so I'm into that, sorry), another twisty gravel one and I think it's probable we'll get like two or more RX tracks, so I gotta pick Abu Dhabi and Spa. plus Greece and Finland from DR1, obviously.

Just on liveries, I'd personally love the option to remove the opaque visibility restriction bar across the top of windscreens. I know it's not accurate to the sport, but in this game it would make things a lot more immersive. It's a reason I love the older cars, seeing so much more than a narrow strip of road ahead of you is quite wonderful, given how nice the scenery and skies are. @PJTierney

Wasn't that eastern european article suggested that the i20 and the Riga track would come? The Riga track is here now. I think it is a

As I would love to see the DS3 as well (and the Focus RS RX, and the Marklund Polo, and others), there hasn't been a big important DS3 entry in World RX last year or this year. The MINI on other side has been run by Bennett and Xite, which has been also promoting the game. 

it would be awesome to see the following Supercars being added to the game:
- DS Automobiles DS3 (Doran ran one event in ARX 2018, and Solberg won Nordic RX with it)
- Ford Fiesta M-Sport (unlikely, but this car runs in 2019 ARX and was the ERX 2018 champion car) 
- Ford Focus M-Sport (ARX 2018)
- Hyundai i20 GRX (WRX)
- Mini Cooper Xite (WRX, ARX)
- SEAT Ibiza Munnich (ERX, ARX, WRX)
- VW Beetle (ARX 2018)
- VW Polo Marklund (different teams run it in ERX and Nordic)

There is still than the MINI Countryman from DIRT 4, but it hasn't been competing anywhere as far as i know, so it is not really that interesting.

I think likely the i20 and Mini Cooper will come
Possible with and updated Ibiza, the M-Sport Focus and VW Beetle
And maybe will with an addition of the DS3 and the non factory Polo

Season 2 was announced on May 17th, a few days before the end of season 1.
Season 2 will end on 13th of August, with the release of Estering (looking forward to that).
So maybe around August 9, in about a month of time, we might know about more DLC seasons.
That makes it some time about guessing, which is also fun, but also questioning my patience 😛

pace notes are not perfect, I add, very simple and incomplete. 20 years that I work with pace notes, if it were for me they would be much more complete and accurate. but ... it's a game.
