Actually there's not such thing as simulator or arcade. All racing games are simulators. None of them are truly realistic & result effective placebo skillset to the real deal.

Actually there's not such thing as simulator or arcade. All racing games are simulators. None of them are truly realistic & result effective placebo skillset to the real deal.
I would say a simulator is where you would expect the car to react somewhat realistically to your inputs. If you drove a simulator and then tried driving the same way on a real track, you probably could, to some extent. Whereas with an arcade, where you have to do a drift at 250+km/h to "better take the corner" (Need for Speed) if you tried that in real life, you probably end up in a big crash or worse.
Arcades are made to be easy to drive and often don't have much to do with actual physics, while Simulators try to recreate the way a car drives in real life. How close they get is a different question.

Not true. Grid 2 is massively more difficult than Grid Autosport. As it interact more with weight balancing while the other is more about controlled understeer. Number are still off, but I suppose Autosport rely more on realistic value. Although both use real mathematical physic.
 
You get the extreme side of the sim like rfactor, ac, iracing, RRRE with more simulation value & real numbers to play with like tire heat, advance setup, telemetry(which you can also do with arcade style), etc, but the driving experience is still placebo.

Referring as more or less realistic racing experience is probably the better sentence to use & point out what seem not so realistic. 

@JZStudios once claimed that sim racing is BS which is 100% true in a way in my perception. Simulator are still in research at the actual moment & even full size apartment computer doesn't simulate a racing car in an effective way to make a driver with no experience being on part with real pro on the first try. Although transition from a racing videogame title to another one is effective, if you understand the driving model.

I'm still updating my sim introduction guide using AC (beware, lot of rants about sim elitism).

The problem is that cars are super complex. There's a lot of touching moving surfaces, and almost nothing is actually static. Things also change with heat, climate, altitude, etc.
Plane sims are pretty close though, there's a lot less to actually simulate.

I wouldn't say GRID2 is massively more difficult. it's just more slide happy. When I first played GRID2, I got used to the handling and was ok with it. After having played GAS and going back to G2, it might seem more difficult though, since you've gotten used to GAS, where cars behave a bit more like cars should (with more understeer, if you push too hard).

Another way of looking at sims vs arcades is if you take any sim and tried to drive it like an actual car, you should get similar, predictable results (like brake down to a certain speed to be able to take a certain corner, otherwise you would just go off track), whereas in an arcade if you aproach a corner in a realistic manner (doing things what you think the car should do in real life), most of the time the opponents just pass you by, because there you are able to take that corner at a much greater speed while also drifting it, try that in a sim or a real car and you're off the track.
 
Another thing with arcades is that they don't let you control the car fully. In a lot of them the controls change when you go into a drift, it magically snaps into drift, the wheels automatically countersteer and your steering inputs now mean a different thing (again, Need for Speed), in sim you have a car and a track and you can drive how you want

I prefer the approach in GRID 2 with the exaggerated behavior. Not only it's more fun, but the car do behave in a realistic manner, such as understeer(less, but still there), oversteer, lift off oversteer, lost of control, you interact more with balancing with the weight transition, scare factor, etc.

In GRID Autosport it's an understeer mess. You just turn & get away with many things you shouldn't do at all. You really need to go hard to actually spin out. You get the behavior of the thing, but muted a lot(you know the sim approach).

Need for speed the drift are probably animated & maybe it just turn in the code(all assumption).

Aside from that all the racing game you can hold your brake input at 100% & somehow able to control the car instead of plowing straight.

Sure I make fun of the sim approach & almost sound toxic. Although, I have the constructive criticism that back up my claim.

Have to disagree with you there, I thought the handling in GRiD 2 was bloody terrible! Non-stop slides at all but the lowest speeds and not at all realistic.
