F1 2016 iOS Update - 12/12/2016

Recommended Posts

Hey,

We've released a new update to F1 2016 on iOS!

Here's what's in this update:

·         iCloud saving implemented. Now the player can start a game on their iPhone, iPod or iPad and then continue on their Apple TV, and vice versa.

·         AI improvements. Opponent behaviour has improved and also their driving, resulting in lap times that are now much closer to typical F1 lap times.

·         Driving Assists – when the game runs for the first time, the player is prompted with a screen which allows them to modify assists. This will help players who did not realise that it was possible to change these assists.

·         General bug fixes, performance enhancements and improvements.

Let us know what you think about the update - any thoughts, issues or general comments, please let us know below!

Ahhh...so this is where all the action is! I knew it! Hope to hear good things about this update, especially improvement in how the car is steered with the gyros.

AI is much better for sure; the races actually feel like races now, although they have sometimes cut me off when I overtake them. Also, the reduced tyre smoke from braking is much appreciated, and I think the graphics are a bit better actually.

Really, my only problems are that:
- 1: the exhaust gasses from the cars are a bit thick. I like how the game has them, but they are too distracting at the moment, and
- 2: the accelerometer steering is kind of weird, I think it's the game simulating a kind of stability control?. It seems that it's not just how much you tilt the device that determines how much the steering wheel actually turns, but also how fast you're going. So I could be entering a corner, but as I let the car slow down, the steering is suddenly greater and I'm then riding over the kerb. If that could be changed so that only tilt determines how much you steer, even if that means the car understeering and sliding off of corners if you steer too hard at speed, I would be very happy.

Maybe the problem with steering is just me. I think I'm too-used to the handling in Real Racing 3.

Also I've probably said it a million times before already, but the game needs a manual shifting mode! Haha. For pro tilt controls, it could be that the accelerator and brakes are on the right side of the screen, and shifting up and down on the left side of the screen. I think some of the more-dedicated players would appreciate the challenge.

Are you still having this issue, @Haskinin?

There are still very annoying bugs, here is my list.
I play on Apple TV using latest version of F1 2016 and latest version of tvOS.
  • It is not possible to do qualification at Monaco because at start (when I don't have the hand on the steering wheel with the traffic lights) the car crashes in the first corner, breaking the front wing.
  • Pit stop issue: At Silverstone, I have to go to pit stop once more than opponents.
  • Pit stop issue: Looks like opponent pit stops take 2 secs...
  • When the security car is on track, opponent can go to pit stops. I can't.

Sound failing a lot, Pit Stops are pretty terrible, I wish i could drive in the pits just like other games and really need career mode with own name and helmet yes or yes. Graphics needs improvement too. Problem is that they came with console first and then adapt to iOS and its like baby software. Hopefully with F1 2017 they make the console and the mobile part together to get much better performance, graphics and features.
Thanks
