New owners of F1, and will they affect Codemasters making F1 2017 Game?

Recommended Posts

With new owners of the whole Formula 1 sport wanting to shift the race weekends add more tracks and changing rules within the sport, I will love F1 till I die, and a quick question to you Codemasters team,  will the new owners of F1 change anything in terms of the game for F1 2017 ? Licensing? Relationship with the sport?, I hope everything dont change and you can have more freedom making the F1 2017 Game, with the crash models and all that, apologies if this is a touchy subject but as a hardcore fan of the F1 games I dont want to worry lol.

My guess is that F1 and Codemasters are making licensing deals at the moment, and because nothing's sure yet, we're not getting any F1 2016 patches and no information about what's going on from Codemasters.

I doubt you will see anything new for 2017 in terms of gameplay and graphics.  Probably the biggest change you will see for next year are more online events to take part in as that's Liberty Media's strong point.

Guys Liberty Media doesn't know F1 from F3 anymore than the previous owners, CVC Capital Partners did, and is more interested in the financial returns to their investment than in meddling in something they know nothing about. That is why Bernie Ecclestone has said that for now nothing will change in terms of F1 operations and the way sport is administered and regulated. Bernie is still F1 Supremo until he is replaced by another F1 Supermo, possibly Toto Wolff (my surmise).  About the only thing that will change is possibly the sport being made available to a wider American audience, and that lads, is good business for Liberty Media and the sport of F1.
