The final was intense. Loeb got so close to passing Ekström, but the track is too tight for that and Ekström knew exactly how to block him.

It is difficult to pass, but it's also a hard track to defend on because of that. If you leave the slightest of gaps, someone will go for it. The s1600's showed that

Did anyone else think Kristoffersson hit Solberg? It could have been the camera angle though

Yeah, there is a certain person who also thinks like that :p

Solberg got bitten by karma this time, since Kristofferson took his revenge on him for Hockenheim xD

PS. Kristofferson's front was bent to the inside after Solberg got a smokin' wheel. Obviously then the contact was what caused the smokin' wheel.

Best driver in the final for me was Loeb. He looked so much faster than Ekstrom on the last lap!

He looked so much faster because Ekstrom was using a highly defensive line that was a lot slower. All Ekstrom had to do was to make sure no one overtakes him (and you can do that easily in such similar performing vehicles by "parking" the car on the apex, also known as "make your car as wide as possible"). Until that point, Ekstrom and Loeb had pretty much exact same pace.

Dayum, Solberg is getting a lot of his own medicine lately xD And Bakkerud really likes to take the stakes high :D

Yeah but at the end of the 4 heats Solberg made it to the semi's whike Bakkerud kept on  struggeling and had his worst race since a long time.

Won't stream in the USA, but Chrome VPN plugin, set to Germany, watching now.

I would like to do that because here the livestream doesn't work. Have to find out how it works. Probably trial/error. That is how I got my chromecast working even on holiday locations.

good racing out there, lots of contact though! Shame Kevin Hansen got taken out, and block was having a great race with Timur and Schieder before they crashed out

It's quite impressive to take 3 wins in a row in a sport that relies on so many factors.

I'll be honest, with that kind of spectacle that we're seeing, I pretty much don't care if Ekstrom or anybody else (ok, with exception of Loeb, don't want him ruining another motorsport :D ) keeps constantly winning. Unlike rally where it all comes down to the results in terms of competition, in RX it comes down in pretty much entirety of it down to the racing itself.

That's the beauty of  the sport. Short tight races means that drivers will risk and play hard, no fooling around playing it safe.

That was a pretty good watch, the weather definitely threw things a little bit. Looked like Kristofferson was pushing harder than Ekstrom on the last lap, the Audi seemed a little more comfortable on the damp track.

Kevin Hansen is doing so well at just 18! Lined up in the semifinal against 9x wrc champion loeb, 1x wrc & 2x wrc champion solberg, and 1x wrx champion Ekstrom! Plus his brother who I think won euro extra?

edit: Timmy was in the other semi!

Another smart drive from Ekstrom. Not great for the Championship though, as he is starting to stretch an early lead and we are only three rounds in.

Same happened in the previous season and if it weren't then for Solberg being out of one event completely, they would be duking it out between them till the final race so... yeah, no point thinking about it now, since apparently Ekstrom has second half of the season worse.

My wife: "The announcer is always yelling about everything, he's giving me anxiety."

Me: "That's because you watch F1 and aren't used to actual excitement happening in a race."

I would like to see Loeb winning, just for more competition. Happy to see Peugeot Hansen are getting the 208 competitive again. But they have to do something about that EKS-lookalike livery...

Yeah I thought that when they lined up next to eachother!

to be fair, there's a hell of a lot going on at the start of a race, from the green lights and through the first couple of corners, and it often doesn't slow down much after that, so there's a lot to shout about!

Sad season for Bakkerud so far. I'm glad Ekström didn't win once again though, it was starting to get boring.

Sone serious crashes, they have to look at it before someone gets hurt. And agree nice to see anothervwinner.

Second race in a row where tyres in the middle of the track have nearly caused the leader in a semi final the race!

But really good racing in general. I missed the heats, but I saw a video of Kevin's roll on Facebook, looked nasty

Bakkerud seems to have the worst luck of them all. Heck, that's basically the case for the entire Hoonigan team. Block doing some good job in Qualifying and then gets the short end of the stick in the semis.
Ekstrom was brutally slow, especially when you consider that last year he was faster than anyone else here by a bit.

Still, at least this should silence the "Meh, Ekstrom is winning only" crowd :p

Would love to see Mettet in DiRT 4 though, along with Hockenheim.

That was exciting! LOTS of contact this round, in just about every race. It's unfortunate to see both Hoonigan drivers get knocked out after having such a good weekend. They seemed to have found the pace, hopefully we'll see more of it soon.
