No ABS

Recommended Posts

I cannot for the life of me drive without ABS. Can you guys explain the secret to me? For example the downhill left turn at bahrain is a lock up disaster. How do the hot lap guys on youtube make that corner without locking up??

As soon as I got the Fanatec CSL Elites with Loadcell brake and longer throw on Accelerator I turned off all assists and I never have any locks ups now, good pedals help

Do you drive with manual pr auto gearbox?

Try braking earlier and not so hard. Its the same thing as acceleration but reversed. First, you brake hard than slowly release it to a point that you avoid lock up and still make the turn without going wide. Car setup helps as well like kevin said, but the best option to fix this is a wheel with good pedals.

I'm using manual. If you have to break sooner will you lap times be any better? As in is it even worth getting a grip on?

Brake and drop gears together. Pumping the brake can help. If I go from 8th to 4th for example, I will pump the brake with every gear drop - this helps to avoid lock ups.

try practice sessions and the tyre wear simulation, roughly proportional to breaking effectiveness and a nice little red green bar up there all the time.

The amount of brakes you put on is relative to your speed. Because F1 brakes are so good, applying full brake pressure is only needed for 280km/h+
For most corners where you're threading the car in and gradually shaving off speed (like turn 1 Suzuka and as you mentioned in Bahrain) you'll find yourself applying as little brake as possible.

Not really, no. The only time you want to pump the brake is when you're locking up - this is what ABS does and it lengthens your braking distance, so you don't want to do it if you don't have to. Generally it's a better idea to start the downshifting a little way into the braking phase too - downshifting at the same moment you hit the brakes can make the car unstable, and this game really seems to reward keeping the car as balanced as possible.

It just takes practice. All you're doing is training your eye to notice the screen shake, then slowly release the brake.

Lowering the brake pressure is a good starting point. Depending on the weather under 70% is where you should start. In regards to how to brake into a corner I always apply 100% pressure to start off with, then bring it up as I near the corner. You'll be surprised at how much you can brake with the brake pressure set to a lower level without locking. The key to this game is always trail braking into a corner, as for me it's the quickest way around.

O had the same problems in past, the thing is,
if you have manual gearbox ist good-
Try following;
Break the same point you would break with abs BUT dont shift down to early-
For example , if you need to start breaking at 100 meters, break just like usual from 100 meters and start shifting down just at 60 or 50 meter board, dont start shifting down at 100 meter board!!!
Of course you need also to put the break pressure little bit  down ..
