DiRT 4

Recommended Posts

I love you guys!

The Colin McRae / DiRT Franchise was part of my whole gaming-life so far. I am so excited to see DiRT 4 coming this year.
Thank you for another great game in the franchise.

It's just a shame it wasn't Dirt Rally 2 or an expansion to Dirt Rally.

It will be many game modes, split focus resulting in lacking content in each mode. Again, I fear.

It will be even more realistic this time and there will be a Track-Editor that will generate an infinite number of unique tracks for the five rally-settings. That is definitely better than making a handfull tracks for DiRT Rally ;).

I surely don't see how fake tracks would be better than real world mapped tracks.... like.... you know....

Depends on how well the Track-Generator works. As far as I understood it will be an addition to the game and not the core. I never even expected the EGO-Engine would be even capable of something like this.

I'd never consider procedual generated tracks as an replacement for perfectly handcrafted tracks, but I am excited to see what the track-generator is capable of. Actually I think Codemasters should have added the live-routes from GRID 2 to DiRT as well. Those always made more sense in the context of Rally anyway.

As well I highly doubt a track-generator is ever capable of generating a Monte Carlo style rally-tracks. So... its definetely a noce addition to the game if its not the core.

Man, you really like shitting on peoples parades don't you? Not like DR's tracks were that accurate anyways.

Don't wanna take precipitated conclusions but, track generator = fake stages = a step backwards... and we are yet to see if the Pace notes will work properly with those track generated stages.

If you are pursuing realism / accuracy, to be featured in your games, you instead put a track and pace notes CREATOR, not generator... or give full Mod support to the game.

Guess we will have to wait for more info and check how it really Works.

Well a good generator can definetely create some intereisting tracks. But I guess its limited. I bet we will only see rther flat environments. The roads themselfes sure can have bumps and be uneven, but I doubt we will ever see a proper mountain-track.

I guess it would be interesting to see handcrafted rally-tracks with procedually generated road-surfaces. Something like a dirt track will always have different bumps, and tarmac will always have different wetness and so on.

I played dirt 4 back in November.

The random stages were very good, they are definitely very similar to those you'd find in dirt rally. And the pacenotes worked fine.

Just thought about the fact that Pikes Peak is probably out now too.... so much for that.
Can't have everything I'm afraid! It was probably the least popular of the 3 events in dirt rally, and if it was back for dirt 4 then people would probably just complain that there wasn't any new content!

Well hillclimb is nice, but with only one track and so many cars limited to only hillclimb or rally each... it wasn't just as satisfying.

At this point I would actually be fine if they added updated version of the mountain-tracks from GRID to DiRT Hillclimb.

So the stages that are not generated, are they based on real roads as in DR or are they fantasy stages?

Wow! Your a bit of a twat aren't you? Any particular reason you're being rude? Or just for the sake of it?

I personally really like the trucks and buggies, and so do lots of others. If you don't want to race them, then Don't! Simple as that!

Well with the start of "DiRT" the franchise has never been about pure Rally alone, apart from Dirt ""Rally"" - DiRT per default is the focused idea of all kinds of dirty motorsports, so get over it. I am sure DiRT Rally as an franchise itself is not over as well.

Because CM is obviously pulling a money making stunt, and you morons are praising them.

Seriously... same engine, no real tracks, vehicles nobody asked for, missing MANY MANY asked for features...
And the features they "listened to the community" about?
Yeah, they listened to the children who's parents won't buy them a wheel, or console jockeys that refuse to buy a wheel.

It's obvious people wanted something more mature, and what they got was another sandbox kiddie playtime snazzy looking crap box.
