DiRT 4 Confirmed Car List

Recommended Posts

Yeah this year is looking promising and it's looking close to the early 2000s of that video where you have like 4 to 5 drivers that can win a rally.
Hard to beat the Colin McRae vs Makinen vs Sainz vs Auriol vs Gronholm vs Burns vs Loeb vs Solberg vs Markko Martin competition + their good looking cars. You never knew who would be the winner at that time, the competition was so good and healthy.

I really like the livery on Kevin Abbring his 208 R5 for Belgian rally championship this year

It's similar to the one Princen used last year as it's the official Peugeot Benelux car.
They know how to create gorgious liveries!

True but I like that metallic style blue on Abbring's 208 so much better

Maybe we can agree that the more Peugs the better  :p

I think it's pretty safe to say that, with Paul's reply on page 933 of the Gossip Thread, the car list assembled here is final. I, honestly, would have been surprised if there were any new additions, considering the complexities of licensing and the amount of work dedicated to each car.

My thoughts on the car list is that it's great. The licensing department has done well in the face of the licensing adversity that hinders game developers these days. They deserve praise for their efforts.

I only, truly, have one issue with the car list: the Focus 07 being alone in 2000CC class. That car may not be alone in number, as it shares its class with two others, however, if DiRT 4 is indeed going for maximum realism, the Focus 01 and Impreza 01 will be no match for it. I don't know how Codemasters will get around this fact, I hope not with some balance of performance.

I'm not 100% certain about it being final, allow me to explain:

They will not say it's final, and cannot until they get more signature(s).

Despite the large amount of work involved with cars, it doesn't mean it's not already done, pending sign off.

They will not have shown cars that they have not been given the ok for.  (99% certain)

Otherwise I agree with the rest :)

Is the Focus 07 really the hard nut for people to eat? I understand it's younger, it's faster but we can be quite sure it's back again only because it was also in DR. I'd rather have that than not have it at all.

"DiRT 4 is indeed going for maximum realism" - it's not so it won't be.  Same is it was with that Focus07 in DR.

I think it's going to be interesting to see where the '07 Focus WRC sits alongside the R5's: the progression of rally cars is something that has been discussed elsewhere on the forum already, with 10 years between them I wonder just how close the R5's will be to the WRCars.

I don't see why the '07 Focus would have to perform exactly like its real life counterpart. It's a game, and I'd always take balance over authenticity.

I expekt the R5's to match or even outpace the 01 WRC's. The 07 might still be a bit quicker though. We don't really know how much detail goes into specific parts of the cars either. If they all run on the tires that is used now it might be a different story etc.

Yeah, that's my guess as well! Looking at events where the cars have run together it is possible for a well driven R5 to outperformed the latter WRCars, but when the WRCars are well driven they still seem to have the edge

It is a shame that the '07 Focus WRC is alone (and I would be absolutely overjoyed if it was joined by the S12b Impreza WRC!) , but it's certainly not going to ruin the game for me.

I think they may be waiting for signatures for a C4 WRC. Paul once told when I asked him about licensing WRCs: "If we manage to license them, they will have been in DiRT Rally". Only the C4 is missing from DR. They could still be dealing with tough Citroen.

And if we want to tie that 'gossip' in with the other 'gossip' of (paraphrased) two signatures from the same entity...... :)

The Citroen Licence isnt problem, its their policy with livery, they give Happy Cars to Game, with Their WRCars is problem, they only let official livery because the sponsors gave them budget for evolving and upgrade Car for Rally.. the oficial Licence for livery is hold by Milestone due Loeb Rally Game,   I remember CM created few "custom "Liveries but had to drop out from  Dirt Rally. thats why there was not livery just red and white colour C4)  , I hope in The meantime something is changed with eclusive licence deal, and they could use maybe Petter Solberg C4 Livery ..

If they can't run the livery suite on it, it will stop it being in the game, full stop.  In DR it wasn't so bad, but as livery is now part of the game experience, it would prevent it.

So yeah, car or livery, essentially the same thing/problem.

Not necessarily, Audi won't allow unofficial liveries on the Quattro and it has made it into the game.
Codemasters may be trying to license this livery for the C4:

Note how there are a couple of new official liveries on certain cars that were, probably, inspired by DiRT Rally skins.

Yes, but difference is Audi has oficial livery in the Game and Citroen hasnt. thats why the car would be abel to be just blank colour, no Team Suite livery, is that enought for That Expensive licence? or rather use money and spend on Model who let use other liveries?
Edit
I hope You are right, its a nice livery :)

I'm sure the Audi license isn't cheap either. To me, I think having the car in the game is the most important. Being able to do custom liveries is a bonus. The only other car I could see them pick up would be, maybe, the Peugeot 307 CC WRC, but they failed to get the 208 R2 and the 206 already so...
And yes, that livery is as iconic on the C4 as the yellow stripes are on the old Quattro.

The 307 WRC wouldn't be the best fit for the class, would it? It falls in between the '01 and '07 cars, doesn't it?

It does somewhat by a year or two. It's last real competitive year was in 2006 when Manfred Stohl raced it into 4th overall. But it's either that or the Subaru that would be most likely if we're getting one at all. And to me the 307 feels like the safer bet due to how many other peugeots that are in the game.

I would bet on the 307 but, at the same time, as I said, they couldn't get the 208 R2 and the 206 WRC, a bit of a bad omen, wouldn't you say?

You know what? I've been thinking even further. Paul mentions that the Audi is the only car in the game with a livery restriction. Could that mean no Citroen? Wait a minute, the DS3 RX is in the game and DS didn't allow any unofficial liveries in DiRT Rally. Maybe things have changed with them and Citroen. Also, a little fun fact: you know the Hyundai i20 from DiRT Rally? That car only had a livery authorized by the manufacturer and a blank, white livery. Guess what: Paul told me the Hyundai i20 would be getting one official livery, but that they would also be doing their own DiRT 4 liveries on it. So manufacturers can change their attitude towards liveries.

Another thought about the "maybe with the same entity" by Christina, is that the entity could be the PSA Group, meaning both the 307 and C4 could be making an appearance. This latter one is more wishful thinking, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
