Bring back classic cars and tracks

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't it be great if some of the old teams, drivers and tracks were available in F1 2017. Not sure how hard it would be but having them as rewards for completing goals would encourage replay ability.

what tracks, drivers and teams would you wanna see if it could be done?

This would've been correct had they of not done it in the past, its easily do able and actually has nothing to do with FOM it's actually to do with the track owners and the car owners, you have to ask them and pay them individually instad of paying FOM for all cars and tracks aswell as drivers in the current season. So it's  definitely do able depending on cars and track, for instance trying to get Michael Schumacher into a gamr is going to be very difficult atm because his family doesn't want him being exposed to any media or outside world so you wouldn't get him or any of his cars, i would assume drivers like ayrton senna are the same story where their families don't want people racing as them or things like that.

My thing is I'd much rather them get the game right before going back to DLCs and were still a fair while away from that as 2016 proved but it's  progress

Proof?

Proof is that if FOM didn't stand in the way, we'd have classic cars and tracks in all F1 games that CM has made. The reason F1 2013 contained so few classic cars and tracks was because CM was unable to get the licenses. That's just how it works.

Can you quote any legitimate sources? Do you work directly with FOM licensing? If CM was "unable to get the licenses," that does not necessarily mean FOM is "standing in the way" of it.

I wish they would just buy the license to Grand Prix Legends and remaster *THAT* game instead! How ridiculously awesome would that be?

So why would FOM block classic cars drivers and circuits if Codemasters own the F1 licence? For instance they could add Turkey into the game as it's a track Codemasters have had in the past. Or Mark Webber as a driver. Or Lotus

Their licence allows them to make a game based on the current season, every year. Anything else must be licensed separately, even if they already have the assets from a previous game.

Where did you get that information from? If that was the case how did they manage to do it in 2013?

It's a license thing. it's sometimes completly unclear who ownes the rights of former teams. That's one of the reason 2013 had only a few cars. Don't know if this is FOM related. Suppose not and like the Wildcat said, all seperate licenses need to be obtained from both teams, drivers and probably sponsors. Would be nice however if CM could shine a light on this so we can move on without getting another question.

Would like to see this re-implemented. Maybe they get the chance to renew it for this newest game because they're old contract ran out?
So maybe now they are allowed to because they are no longer under the same contract? I see a complete and clear possibility here now, with a new contract possible arriving on their door step the FIA now being owned by Liberty Media which I presume effects FOM as FIA owned FOM and them being a media company I really do hope they understand, but also even before apparently FOM were becoming more lenient again and so were the teams, games such as project cars have managed to obtain the license and assetto corsa so I do not see why not the main F1 games developers can not obtain atleast the same if not a better deal :)
*Edit: I also forgot the forza motorsport 6, is the game that has all of these cars ;) It's embarrassing for me it being my 2nd favorite game ever after f1 2013 xD

We should not want Classic F1 be implemented as sort of an extra bonus. Just focus on the year at hand and better release a  dedicated game with a complete season/seasons of the sixties or seventies. Otherwise you just get that little extra which for sure is not complete.

Tbh, unless we get a comlete classic season, like 1994 with all the teams and drivers, I could care less about classic content.  I hope CM doesn't waste resources just to give us the same content from F1 2013.

Classic cars would just be something else they can mess up. Let them focus on completing a current gen game for once. They are on here telling us they no longer care for 2016 bugs, either those present at launch or those introduced later with other patches. It's really good of them to be adding those fixes to 2017.

So next year, when we discover 2017 bugs, can we look forward to having them rectified in 2018?

Maybe they should call next year's game F1 2019, fix everything in 16 bug list, and give themselves 2 extra years to fix all the stuff they are currently breaking building 17.
