AI needs to be defensive

Recommended Posts

I play full weekend on expert and win by 1.0s or 1.5, but when I pass it's like there is a blue flag every time. AI needs to swerve or act defensively when in a race. If I want to pass someone, it should end in success or a wreck.... that's how tight it should be. EVEN IN THE STRAIGHTS. AI should be there to win, not yield positions.

I rather have the AI less offensive. They wrceked many of my races just banging into me on the straights.

I have complained about the AI aggressiveness when it come to rear ending and taking you out of the race, yet some guys always come back with "oh its your fault" because apparently I am supposed to keep my eye on my mirrors and heaven forbid, get in their way or make any moves from where I am apparently supposed to be. So why would it be OK for the AI to do this?

Or am I supposed to just drive them of the track because I can't wait for the right opportunity to pass them without causing a major accident instead of trying to drive through them as is the present AI behaviour.

Not disagreeing with the OP, but they need to fix the dumb aggressiveness from behind while they are about it.

One member here solved the pointless rear-ending by reinstalling the game so that's worth trying. I certainly haven't had an issue with straight rear-ending. I've been squeezed or hung out to dry but not rear ended.

And of course you should keep your eye on the mirrors, it's utterly stupid to complain about having to do that. If you cut someone off on the highway you don't blame them and say "You could see me, but I had to use my mirrors so it's your fault".

I appreciate the AI aggressiveness since I treat them with respect now. In 2013 I'd just put them in a wall if they annoyed me. Now they'll spin me out or put me in a wall if I try anything underhand.

I'm fairly certain AI get more defensive with higher difficulty. Ultimate they defend well but they absolute cancer on the straight. 100% of the time you will have to use a flashback if there are 2 or more around you. One next to you may inadvertently cut into your line right before braking zone and the other one in slipstream will just run up behind you as if you're not there

Again, I just haven't seen the hit up the rear at all. The only place where the AI are definitely broken is the start of Russia and Monza, where 2 out of 3 starts you'll end up with a safety car. And in Russia, they push you wide if you go around in the first kink, or they put you in the wall if you go down the inside. Other than that, I've had excellent clean races with the AI with 3 wide battles into sector 3 of Russia, etc. I mean most corners in F1 don't work 3 wide, so someone has to back off or there will be a crash. They do occasionally cut you off in braking tho... Nothing Max Verstappen wouldn't do though

I think that the AI aren't too aggressive, apart from some moments. The thing is, rear-ending crashes also happen in real F1: for example Alonso and Gutierrez in Australia 2016 or Kvyat and Vettel in Russia 2016. And to be honest, being taken out of a race when it's nowhere near your fault can happen in real life (ask Alonso about Belgium 2012) and also in game. The important thing is not to have a race with 19 AIs of Pastor Maldonado

9 out of 10 races with my league taken out on the straight at the start of the race. It's either me or something is definitly wrong. This started from F1 2015. Never had this issue before. However, I experience this only during online sessions, not during career or quick races.

Reinstall the game. It fixed the issue on someone else on this forum's console

I don't understand, do you play with AI in your racing league or you are taken out by other players because of micro-lag?

Comparing driving and the the purpose of mirrors on a race track to the public highway LOL.

Spatial awareness is important no matter where you drive. You're "LOL" tells me you probably aren't even old enough to drive on public roads. You don't realize how inane it is to ask "you mean I should use my mirrors to make sure I don't take someone out?" You people incessantly moan about realism and then complain about needing to use your mirrors??

Well I was willing to debate the differences of mirrors use on the public roads as opposed the race track with you, however not with people who insult me.You have no idea of my age sir, but for sure, you need a lesson in manners.

Taken out by AI. No problems with the human drivers.

You should only be taking crashes from behind if you are taking the turn to slow.... I have literally never had that happen unless I stop on purpose to destroy someone's front wing in order to change the standings to what I desire.

I was wondering about that too, but it occurs only during online events with my friends (on hard level) During career were I drive a higher level I never have this problem and to be honest, I'm a fair starter, definitly not too slow. So that makes you an ass  :* :* o:)

Online AI has always been buggy. The online AI doesn't think you're in the spot that you actually are. This leads to the AI taking you out or running you off the track quite often. It's always been an issue & everyone here knows about it.
