[F1 2017 Question] Differences between Xbox One and PS4 versions?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Congratulations to the Codemasters team on announcing F1 2017 today, I'm looking forward to trying out the McLaren MP4/4 and seeing how it compares to the version I drove in Forza Motorsport 6.
I also quite enjoyed F1 2016 and am looking forward to playing this year's game in general.

In between last year's release and this one I have picked up a PlayStation 4 (Pro), which means I now have to choose which platform I play F1 2017 on.

To help me make the decision that would be best for me, could somebody from Codemasters or the community answer these short questions please?
  • Will the Xbox One version make use of the Xbox One controller's "haptic triggers" feature?
  • Are there any notable benefits to people playing on PlayStation 4 Pro compared to regular PlayStation 4 users (resolution, frame rate, HDR etc.)?
Thanks again, and best of luck with the launch of the game.

Kind regards,
-PJ

One thing I would like to know is if codemasters have done anything about a custom lobby browser on Xbox one? It's where you go online and search for a custom race. PS4 have had one since 2015 while we put up with the stupid hopper system on xbox and can't edit anything at all.

F1 2016 already used the haptic triggers on XB1... That being said, I hope they can improve the visual quality on XB1, notably reducing visual tearing.

Yes, I remember F1 2016 having haptic trigger support. It wasn't as advanced as the system used in Forza (though that's expected as Forza helped design the system in the first place) but still enough to feel the brakes reach their limit, allowing me to turn off ABS.

I expect it to appear in F1 2017 (and it would be one reason I'd prefer the Xbox One version over PlayStation 4) but it would be nice to have confirmation :)

Not much Codemasters can do other than beg Microsoft to let them do it... third party developers generally have to stick to the basic system offered by Xbox Live. (PCars initially had this problem on Xbox too, though they got around it eventually somehow...)
