Engine failure

Recommended Posts

There is no on/off setting for mechanical failures, if that's what you're asking. You can theoretically blow your engine, if you do like two-three laps in 2nd gear or something like that. In other words, it's virtually impossible to blow an engine by driving conventionally.

Per race 1-2 AI drivers suffer from a mechanical failure. To my opinion this Should be implemented as optional for players also. Its part of racing sports, not only by driving in first gear for 3 laps, thats not what happens in real F1.

Agreed, but I think anyone would be pretty p****d off if they were 1 lap from the finish in a 100% race and their engine blew, even if the option for player failures is given.

That frustration is all part of the experience if you're looking for realism. You want engine failures? Be ready to face the consequences.

I Will accept the consequences, its part of the sport

Not only engine failures need to be implented, also electronical, ers, gearbox failures needs to be there, as an option.
and for careermode, implent reliability as a part you can improve.
And if codies is reading this, have a look on how the improving system works at Motor Sport manager, there are some very nice things there that could make the careermode much more enjoyable.

I'd much rather have the parts of the engine/gearbox/ERS that you have to manage over the course of the season and they have a chance of failing if they're worn too much. Just like with the engines in the past games.

I always get a "Your engine is worn and down on power" message towards the end of a race, but I've never had an engine failure.

I hope this is someting that changes for 2017, and also hoping that we go back to having limited engines for career mode, and an option to either use a worn engine or go for a fresh one and get a grid penalty.

And maybe the team can recondition the engine and decrease the wear level by like 10% after each race you do with it. Not saying 10% as an absolute number because I don't know what the wear levels are, but some kind of percentage where you'd always wear it out more than they can recondition it, or equal to as a minimum so that they can NEVER get an engine back to 100%.

Great ideas ! Broken engine and electronical failures are part of motorsport. Additional, drivers get a grid penalty for changing their gearbox, would add more realism. Lastly, ERS would also be a great option as Many drivers like verstappen used it to defensie their position or for overtakes
