Possibility to change speed units in the in-car speedometer?

Recommended Posts

That is a topic that was raised at its moment by different players when DiRT Rally was released, and from the videos I can see on YouTube from Dirt4, the same thing seems to be happening.

From what I have seen, all cars - at least the ones with an in-car digital speedometer, the speed is shown in mph. I think when it comes to user experience, when units in the game can be changed, they should also apply to the in-car speedometer, and give players the chance to choose between mph and km/h.

I know many people will say "Do you really have the time to check the speedometer when you are rallying?". Well, my answer is, why not? I mean, if I noticed it means I had enough time to look at it, and if it's also there, it is for a reason - even if it might only be used in real life between stages and when driving on public roads to stick to speed limits. From a personal point of view, I find it horrible on a 306 Maxi, being a left-hand drive car that shows miles per hour as speed unit, especially with the official Peugeot Sport livery - just to name one of many.

P.D. As an off-topic comment, and being a story for another day, I find this very wrong. I don't think that a UK right-hand drive 205 GTI has its speedometer in km/h in real life either.
