Former F1 Driver looking to RETURN !!

Recommended Posts

Robert Kubica has had an incredible Career in Formula 1 but unfortunately has lost years and years recovering from his injury back in 2011, the injury was caused by a rallying accident which cost Kubica potentially his best time to drive in the Formula 1 sport. BUT after completing 116 Laps with the Renault F1 Car could we see the return of Robert Kubica after 6 years out of F1, I hope so.

He was at BMW Sauber and won the Canadian Grand Prix with the BMW Sauber team which saw his potential in F1.
He had a drive in the 2012 Renault Car.
He has tested the AMG Mercedes F1 Team's Simulator
He also tested other series such as Formula E and GP3

Other track racing perhaps but I think it's too late fo him to return t oF1 unfortunately at least if he wants to be competitive.

Maybe but Renault would be better of looking at people that can be competitive for them now not someone that's now got their best days behind them.

Maybe he could land a test role or something else like that. I'm having a hard time believing he'll get a race seat.

I have to disagree, he is the same age as Hamilton, and not much older than Vettel, and I'm sure most still believe they have a few years of racing in them until their 'best days are behind him'.

Without knowing exactly what his injuries are, I can't really comment - I would guess it may reduce his pace, but he has done fairly well in WRC since his crash, so who knows, he may be able to drive around the injury. Although, he did say he may not be able to do some of the races due to his injury, but I would guess that maybe some more testing to check his fitness with his injury and possibly Renault would consider him for the drive.

I still don't think he'll be coming back though too much time has passed
He's already faster than Renault's junior driver after 6 years of absence. It wouldn't surprise me if he is one of the contenders to replace Palmer mid-season.

Kubica had talant when he got into F1. No one can say if that talent has gone because of his injury or age.  If he gets a ride in F1 it will be with a team like Sauber or maybe taking Strolls seat.

Because he's doing THAT bad.

Also the test session was just a one off. It was originally a test session for the junior driver. I doubt we'll see any return of Kubica to F1.

The only time we hear of Palmer more than twice during a race is when he's gone out on lap one and they have to mention him everytime they do the retirements.

He's a nice guy but has had some horrible luck. Its time  Renault got another driver in. Palmers doing nothing for Renault and vice versa.

With Kubica thats impressive pace. Someone earlier wasn't sure what had happened him in terms of injuries - he almost completely tore his right arm off, partial amputation and had to have two teams working simultaneously to get his hand back. So he has limited movement due to tight confines of an F1 Cockpit. It does look like a '11/12 era car which could explain why he is faster than sorotkin who had tested the '17 spec car earlier in the season.
