Formula 1 2014 Belgian Grand Prix

There's no way Rosberg hit \Hamilton on purpose. It would take someone as stupid as Maldonado to do that. Why would he risk ruining his own race just to prove a point. Hamilton was just incredibly unlucky (yet again) that he got a puncture from it.

I wouldn't say unlucky, generally the slightest contact ruins the tyre easily.

The only thing I'm going to say is that 24 hours ago I was looking forward to two drivers having an epic battle on track for the win.

24 hours later, they both crash into each other on lap 2, the Mercedes management have committed suicide.

I don't know who the biggest jackass here is; Rosberg if he crashed into Hamilton on purpose and then admitting it, Hamilton for more of his childish antics, or Mercedes for publicly blaming one of their drivers for an accident.

I hope they both crash themselves out of the championship and Riccardo wins it. Legit not happy.

Hmmm, 2007 all over again? ;)

The crash.net article is updated as well http://www.crash.net/f1/news/207980/1/hamilton-rosberg-admits-he-hit-me-deliberately.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss

Following Rosberg's comments, Hamilton said he was "gobsmacked" at the way his team-mate had reacted.

“You know, and you can ask Fernando [Alonso] and you can ask all drivers, when a car is less than half a car length alongside you and you are on the inside, it's your racing line. It's not your job to go massively out of your way to leave extra, extra room. And it wasn't one of those corners where there's a wall there or anything, look at Sebastian [Vettel] on lap [one]. He was actually further up and he knew he wasn't going to go out the other side. He was sensible about it.

“I was gobsmacked when I was listening to the meeting. You need to ask him what point he was trying to make.”

And Hamilton said Rosberg had even tried to blame him for the incident.

“He just came in there and said it was all my fault. Just came in there..."

Watching on foreign TV I had to make all my own judgements today, and immediately I thought that Lewis gave Rosberg space, and Rosberg was at fault, just. Spanish TV love their Alonso though haha, they cut from the podium interview with Ricciardo to an interview with Alonso :p

So a great win for Ricciardo, what a guy this man is, over 50 seconds ahead of Vettel, stunning. I hope he gets all the rest of the wins this season haha

And Hamilton says that Rosberg deliberately hit him. Wow. That's unbelievable, the biggest story I've seen in F1 for a long time. What can Mercedes do to punish Rosberg though? Ricciardo is ONLY 36 points or something behind Hamilton now, he could be a massive threat if Ricciarso keeps winning too at Abu Dhabi.

I'm gonna run out of popcorn

Oh , and this gonna end really badly. At least 1 free seat at Merc for next year. Maybe Vettel there ?

110% yes

I cannot see them keeping this going for another year.

110% No :p

I hear Alonso is looking at his options for next season ;)

He was actually talking with Red Bull last night :p

No, Mercedes will suddenly stop performing and his 0.5 will get him a million 5th places.

I doubt it'll be good for either of them to be pushing for a move away. There are no other top-team spot seemingly avaliable (although I do see Ferrari dumping Kimi for Hamilton and McLaren dropping one of their drivers for Hamilton or Rosberg) and Mercedes is by far the best. I also don't see Vettel leaving Red Bull either, unless Ferrari offers him the Schumi-role he's wanted for years.

And he'd still be ahead of Kimi ;)

This talk of Rosberg doing it on purpose is quite interesting. I for one don't see Rosberg deliberately causing contact like that. Even if he did surely it'd be foolish to come out and reveal all his intentions like this.

All this being said I'd love it if Hamilton is right, I just want to see what Toto and Paddy have to say about this.
