I've updated the front page with news articles and the livestreams (in case some of you missed them). This will also be a blog in the next few days :)

The overtake mode gameplay looks very underwhelming. Something that could get very boring / repetitive very fast (it's basically time trial with a few obstacles in slow driving AI cars). Hopefully you can skip those in career mode (unless you get a serious amount of resource points for them).

Most disappointing for me is that the classic content is limited to cars (unless CM have yet to announce classic tracks). For me the classic content in F1 2013 showed that the value was in the tracks. It was a lot of fun to take the modern cars to the old circuits like Imola. But the classic cars by themselves have very little replay value as you don't have a complete season or even 2 cars from the same season for a head-to-head challenge.

The different layouts of the circuits is interesting. And might produce interesting gameplay. Just to bad we don't get some historic versions of the current GP calender. A pre-2010 Silverstone would have been awesome to drive, as would a Spa with the old late 90's busstop chicane for example.

Long story short, everything revealed so far just leaves me wondering why CM has gone this route. It doesn't feel new or exciting, mini-games within career mode is a waste of resources that could have gone into a wider career with for example GP2 championship before your F1 career, or bringing back media interviews and expanding the dept of the career mode...

I hope CM have got some big announcements still planned, because so far out of the gate I'm not impressed.

Yet no useful information in the steering wheel display? Fuel load, time delta, lap counter, would be of a much better use than these statics 90/100 engine/tyre temps or whatever it is. Or at least an option to toggle different dashboards would make cockpit view players a lot more happy.

Do you guys remember how secretive CM was prior to the launch of F12015? And look how that game turned out. Well it's happening again....

Why did we never ever had a feedback from the devs about this? There were loads of threads when 2016 was launched and not a single answer whatsoever. I don't understand why this complete silence about something so simple to be implemented.

This silence reminds me of F1 2015. About E3 what they showed there was a disaster! They better used the time invested there to develop the game and add useful contents to the game.

My hype is completely down.

as the mate comment, it seems anything like F1 2014 and 2015 where the games was the worse of the saga...
Nothing new from the real important thing that is the game of this year according with the 2017 content, new features such as a SC who do not stay always 3 laps, manual pitstops in which if you do not position well the car, the time spend in the pitstops is more, when you can control the car during all the pitstop, included the Ing menú, the formation lap were you must position well your car, more championships options, such as change the host, penalty system implemented with some additional options and things like that...

The lack of information might be a result of codemasters facing problems with new game features. Two months before release no information except Classic cars. This is harming customer relations!!!!

I'm starting to understand people now. The Hype for this game was never actly there for me, and they haven't done well to start it yet either which is a shame. I'm hoping since today is a Saturday and it's the first one of July they do something of some sort today. But I think that VR won't be in the game if it hasn't been showcased by now

I don't understand either. Why can't they just take the system and slightly adapt it?

Exactly! the focus is full on classic cars which could be a potientially fun addition to he game. But seeing only the promotion of the classic cars and talking bout that future worries me that they lost focus on making F1 2017 the best F1 game so far.

F1 2016 was lacking a bunch of stuff.. instead of watching the competition in the race game genre and improving f1 2016 to the fullest, they were too bussy adding micky mouse elements to a game which was good but far from complete for real F1 fanatics.

Just a theory I was thinking about:

Could it be possible that codies was already building F1 2017 after 2016 got released.. when later it got announced that the F1 rules and car specs would change drastically, thus decided to build of classic cars from the existing models and making it their focus, instead of addapting to the 2017 season?

Yes, that is how annual dev works. They almost certainly do start building the next years game before this years is released. Classic cars are good for them to add in, because they can start on them earlier in the year. The latest seasons F1 cars don't appear until quite late, so they probably have a mad rush to put them in the game. But much as I love the classics, I don't thing these are the main focus. They are an add on, and will be done well as they were in F1 2013, but the main focus of the game will be the 2017 car models. I don't think you have to worry too much to worry about there.
