[PS4] F1 2016 and Thrustmaster T150 questions

Recommended Posts

So I'm about to get myself a wheelstand and the Thrustmaster T150 steering wheel.

It's the first time every I'm buying a steering wheel and I would like to know how much time / effort it will take to set the whole thing up (in  terms of settings and ingame adjustments) before I can start racing it. I've never played with a steering wheel ever (except Mario Kart on the WII I guess...) so I would like to know some tips or settings that could help me out.

Are there a lot of settings ingame or in the PS4 menu itself? I would like to know as much as possible so I can start racing fairly quickly tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: been looking through the "Advanced wheel settings" ingame and I would like to know some setups in terms of :
Steering deadzone
Steering lineairty
Throttle deadzone
Throttle lineairity
Throttle saturation
Brake deadzone
Brake lineairity
Brake satuartion

I think it must be a real pain to set all those things up.

The T150 has a preset in the F1 2016 controller options.

Pretty much the game defaults to 0 linearity, 0 saturation on every control.

The in-game defaults are 100% FFB strength, 100% Environment and 100% Wheel weight. You may want to adjust these to suit your preference.

I don't know the default deg of rotation but there is a way to manually choose between 270/360/540/900/1080 - again you will decide which is best but I think CM use 360 deg for wheels as the default

Install the PC drivers and load the latest firmware

There are plenty of suggestions for the wheel setup, I would advise only using the default car setup until you are happy with the wheel then have custom setups.

First of all thanks for helping me out! So if I'm correct I need to install drivers manually or does the driver for the wheel come out of the box? Because since I'm playing on PS4 only I don't know if I need drivers in the first place.

You'll need to install the drivers on a PC to check the firmware.

Once plugged into the PS4 the rotation should be switchable by the buttons. Perhaps a PS4 owner can assist further.

I bought a t150 a few months ago and already I'm quicker on it than on my pad. Tips for setting it up: increase sensitivity a bit to make sure you can easily get full lock, add a deadzone of 1 or 2 to make sure you can actually go in a straight line xD and then when racing just make sure you dont turn too much in high and medium speed corners, you shouldnt ever be using full lock when turning unless its a first gear corner, anything other than that and turning too much will decrease your speed a ton because of the front wheels graining. something that took me way too long to realise xD
