Which Game to Purchase 2016 or 2017

Recommended Posts

Hi. First post. Old guy wishing to have a bit of fun in F1. Previous owner of F1 2011. Not great at that! I  already have a Thrustmaster  Ferrari GT Experience wheel. As the title suggests should I wait for F1 2017 or purchase F1 2016 now? Will there be a noticeable difference in difficulty between the two? Thanks for any advice.

wait for 2017.
it will have more content and will have the new cars with the new regulations,
it should have a better carreer mode, which will help with how long you keep playing it for,
handling and force feedback have been improved, which makes the experience with you're Ferrari GT Experience wheel way more fun,
so i suggest you just wait and get 2017

Depends what you are interested in.

2017 will have more content than 2016, but it will be approx. 2x the price as 2016 can be had for less than 25 quid now.

If you don't care about the graphics and having the latest cars 2013 is a good buy as it has 4 extra tracks and a load of classics. People claim it is harder than 2012/2011, but I can't see that much difference. It is difficult to get hold of though because I think it is no longer officially on sale.

2014 I don't have, but have heard it is very similar graphics wise to 2013, no classic tracks or cars and a couple of track swapouts over 2013.

I would say that of all the games 2013 offers the best value and is the game I played the most. Of the two latest gen games (2015/2016) it is generally accepted 2016 is better as it has extra features such as a career mode and safety car. 2017 is atm somewhat of an unknown quantity.

its up to you. there is in my opinion. not much content at all. Many of these features should. have been implemented. years ago under the old console technology. could handle just fine. so do you really. want to waste your hand earned cash on a company notorious for horrible quality and game that will show its features. last minute??? dont think so. there is also the health state of the games..... every past f1 game by codemasters has been left in a broken state in one area or more and abandoned. my best advice. is... dont buy any of the games. save money buy a real good computer and get rfactor 2 and iracing.

like dirt3joe said buy the older game or wait for 2018!

Yes i mean 2018, why? Because it will have the same regulations as 2017 but....

- the whole field swap their driver cockpits, only 6 Driver have a contract for 2018: HAM, VES, RIC,

   HUL,  MAG and OCO.

- new Calander with new (old) Tracks: like French GP & German GP

- T-Wings & Shark Fins will be banned, cars would look even better.

thats why I will skip this year to buy the 2017 game. (Owner of 2016)

Thanks for all the advice guys--lots to think about. Is 2016 still available on disc for  PC?

You might as well wait a month, because then you'll also have the latest game with the latest season, new wider cars, more features and game modes, classic cars, etc.

Get 2017.  Next year they will introduce some form of cockpit protection and kill the cockpit view forever.  Unless CM makes it a removable option, f1 2017 will be my last f1 game.

It's really a matter of whether or not you want to make Codemasters richer today or not. We're less than two months away from F1 2017, so if you're that anxious to start play, get F1 2015 instead, as it's down to about 50% off now.

You'll probably barely even notice it, it's a clear windscreen and round shaped. The view will probably be no different to an early 90s car.
