Pit limiter in F1 2017!

Recommended Posts

There is a new interview on Team VVV’s youtube channel with Lee Mather from E3. On that interview Lee said that there will be an actual button to enable and disable pit limiter. Personally I think this is a good feature to add some realism to pitstops. Obviosly we had that in F1 2010 previosly. In general there has been many good ”little features” already that will make the game much more enjoyable. Hopefully much more to come from Codies still

Lovely! Maybe the DRS button can be used for the pit limiter as well

I heard this too. Brilliant to see it finally returning! Don't know why they took it out after 2010. But I like that they're bringing back the challenge.

For the next one I'd like to see interactive pit stops like the Sony games had, use the back triggers to change tyres, if you nail it you have a quick stop, if you press it too early on one tyre then the team would struggle with putting that tyre on.

Why? In this game you're the driver, and you have no control over your pit crew when you're driving an F1 car.

I agree with @scottishwildcat - you are controlling the driver, not the pit crew. However, perhaps they could make it so you control the brakes + steering in the pit lane - if you stop on your marks, you get a quick stop, but it is slower if you miss your pit marks.

Because it adds to the experience, I enjoyed it even in F1 2005 where all you had to do was press O twice for the fuel and Square to release the car.

The good thing about video games is that if you don't like a small feature, you can always switch it off.

True, but the better alternative is to incorporate interactive pitstops to real life.  For example, as you enter the pits you press the pit limiter button. As you stop in your pit box you have to put in neutral.  Once the stop is complete you have to engage the clutch, put in it 1st gear and drive off.  Failing to do this leads to a stall in your pit box.

What @scottishwildcat and @Foreverchamps saying, sounds logical to me. Focus on being a F1 driver.

It would be amazing if this will be implemented in F12017...

Can confirm this is in F1 2017.

Only the neutral part isn't there :D

Do they still change into neutral in the pits in real life? I know they used to do it when the pit stops were longer as they refuelled, but as far as I'm aware they just engage the clutch nowadays, helping them to get the amazingly quick stops we have seen in recent years.

They don't. It wouldn't make sense to shift into neutral for one and a half seconds. They just hold the clutch in I think.

Either way, anything is better than that system where you have to press circle 3 times, then X 6 times, then triangle 2 times, etc...in order to get a decent stop time.

Putting pit limiter into a game is also good feature however full control would it be much better
Full control on pit lane will most likely never happen. There is just too many "stupid" things people would do and at the same time it could be very unequal between different skill levels example in multiplayer lobbies and against AI also. That obviously would be cool for those who want extreme realistic gameplay but it wouldn't work in the game like this because there is a lot of different kind of gamers playing the game. I think pit limiter button and possible manual get-away are good way to make pitstops more challenging and exciting.

The exact moment that you normally would hit a pit limiter button. Is the exact moment the game takes over the car in the pits. You would never actually get to hit it before the game takes over the car. Unless you are planning to hit it and go slow before you have to.

Currently the game makes you slow down to below the speed limit, and in order to avoid getting a penalty, most people (including most F1 drivers in real life) will slow down to below the pit limit a few meters before the line. In real life, this is fine, as they can hit the pit limiter now, and ensure they are below the limit as they cross the line. But, in the game, you have to use the throttle to stay below the limit, meaning you will be losing time compared to real life, as you cannot keep it exactly at the limit just using the throttle.

They still slow down before the line in real life. No drivers gets to within a couple of meters of the pit lane line at full speed and hits a magical button to slow instantly to the limit.

Exactly, that is why we want a button - as it is currently, you have to slow down before the line and coast to the line, giving away time in the race. It is better if you slow down to below the limit about 10 metres or so before the line, then hit the limiter button, and maintain the limit up until the line.

Well if you want to hand more control to the driver maybe the driver can have more control over the speed he entered his box in the pitlane. For example the pit crew in 2010 entered too fast you hit the jackman too slow bad you get a bad pitstop
