No HUD Driving

Recommended Posts

I've had an issue on 2016, I drive with no display, so just in car and thats it. The issue arrises when a SC or VSC is deployed I do not get the delta, so each time I have to pause, go to settings and activate the overlay, and its not possible to just have it active for such a scenario. Is this something that has a workaround or that has been addressed for 17 as it is a serious immersion breaker?

On another note, I would love to know why my original account, that was always polite if critical, is not able to reset the password? No email to signify it was closed, and Jenny has kindly blanked my DMs after replying to my tweet...

I have asked a few times whether the steering wheel display will give more information in F1 2017, however I haven't been given any definitive information yet.

If this is the case, then information such as delta, tyre temps etc. would be displayed through the steering wheel display and would mean the HUD wasn't necessary in situations such as the one you mentioned. This would be helpful for me, as I use cockpit view, but I'm not sure if you do and if you don't, then I'm not sure if this suggestion would help you.

Yeah I drive in cockpit, I can live with bringing up the side menu for temps and etc on a straight but the delta is impossible, as soon as you realise its a SC or VSC situation big chance that I'm on a + delta. The pause to activate the overlay, and then pause to deactivate when the period is over is immersion breaking when playing more sim-y

@Foreverchamps In this video you can see we have the tyre + engine temps on the wheel display now

@forzaforza84 I have the same issue and found no other workaround than keep lap/time delta activated in the OSD all the time. I know how frustrating it is when you want a more immersive game playing from cockpit view and a quite simple information like this is missing in the steering wheel display. I've also asked many many times why this and some other key information such as fuel load and lap count is not added in the display but never got any answer.
In 2017 they added engine and tyre temp, but this is not of any use in the OP issue. If we could have multiple screens with different information, would be perfect.
@jennyannem, could you please give us some insight on this?

This was a much requested item back in 2015.  Two years later we still need the HUD to drive in cockpit. Shame...

This is the only reason why I don't use cockpit view when I feel like piloting from inside the car. Absolutely a huge problem and really should be addressed.

My thinking is that they could perhaps substitute the sector time slot on the wheel for the delta time when an SC or VSC is out? That way no new space would need to be found on the wheel, and realistically behind a safety car the lap time +/- is irrelevant. Having the lap/time delta OSD on constantly as said above somehow manages to distract me as I find my eyes constantly focussing on if its green or red and at that point is no longer as sim immersive as clearly quite a few of us would like

Just go an poach whoever does the PCars motec or indy car screens. One button cycles through the various pages of data.

Why we are still asking for this from a codies f1 game is beyond me. It makes sense, it's immersive, it's common sense to put that info on the screens on the wheel and yet????

This is a good idea, but I don't think this is lack of space issue since there are plenty of empty spots. I agree it can be distractive having all the time in race but helps a lot in practice and qualy sessions.
In some occasions I saw RL drivers with this info in the display during races, what @FRACTURED mentioned about cycling through pages would best replicate what real drivers have.
