What's the point in limiting the revs of the ICE to 15 000 rpm if they never get there? Even at 360km/h, Ricciardo is still doing 12 000 rpm

It has some engineering thing to do with the turbo. Steve Matchett in America is always talking about it. Apparently the turbo and power unit in general run the fastest at the current rpm. Any faster the air isn't correct to compress. Or something along those lines I'm no engineer.

The teams don't like running them that high as it strains the 5 engine limit.

And they will exceed the 100 kg/hour rule as well.
