F1 2017 Featurelist (Updated)

Recommended Posts

For me it comes in very handy. I probably will go for a McLaren career all the way. But in previous versions after 2 seasons I wanted to switch teams without losing my current career. Now I finally can have a main career and switch to another career when I feel bored with McLaren

Also Lee has confirmed a team interest bar for contract time which shows you what teams have what interest. Hopefully its more challenging to get a top team, I found it too easy to get into a good team last year

It'll likely depend on the difficulty setting you have the game at given it works on a slider system this year. If you have the difficulty too high and your not getting good results then your not likel yt oget much attention if any from the big guns. I'll be setting the slider so me and my teammate are more or less matching one another to start with. But everyone is different and if you want a bigger challenge then I guess it's there. I won't be playing at the top end as I'm not that good as I'm more an Easy/Medium pace really at best. So I'll likely have the slider somewhere in that area

My only fear still is bugs. The R&D tree looks so complex it could make gameplay very buggy

Hopefully they've been working on it for a while though because something like that doesn't get developed overnight. In fact that might have been why they didn't change the 2016 one because they always intended to introduce this eventually when it was ready. RPG elements take many years to develop usually at least 2/3 years at least the ones used  in RPG games do. Of course we won't know until the game's in our hands but I really do like the look of it. Would be nice to see it in more detail and have CM explain a little about how it works. Hpoefully @jennyannem can tell us if there's something regarding this feature coming up in a trailer or something soon.

I can confirm this is the case, yes :)
Which bit? That it is in a trailer or that you have been working on it for years and it just wasn't ready in time for 2016?

I'm assuming she means it's going to be discussed in one of the upcoming trailers/vids before the game launches.

The bit about them working on the RPG bit for years seems pretty obvious to me being an RPG fan as it even takes Bioware that long to develop those things and they have the resources of EA behind them providing support. So to me this looks pretty good. Looking forward to put the cars through their paces.

- You can choose a Female driver

Damn you codies...you've got me this year too.
I hope it ll be possible to create a Japanese woman...damn you codies...you knew i couldn't resist!!!
yeah I'm not a girl but I've got to admit I'm thinking of roleplaying as a hot sexy female in career mode that's making a name for herself in F1. But then I think it comes down to the fact I do quite often enjoy playing kick ass females in games a lot these days as I do it a lot in RPG's that I own. I already know what I'm going to call my female driver. The only thing I don't know yet is what number to give her. I do have a number in mind but I'm not 100% certain I'll be able to pick it is all.
You know these comments make you sound quite sexist - you are only going for the female avatar for your sexual plasure...
Really you think so? I don't and I am a girl...

I really am quite excited about this new R&D system, appears to be in depth and well thought out, though some details before release would be great.

Yeah I didn't think it sounded sexist. Also I tend to play both ways anyway when both male and female are offered as options. For example I'm running through the Mass Effect trilogy again atm as a male Shepard. I also have a female rogue on the go in Dragon Age Inquisition. I like roleplaying from different perspectives for me that's one of my favourite parts of playing video games and RPG's in particular. It's more I was saying that I had an idea for roleplaying a female driver in F1 and I wanted to see how it played out seeing as the game has female avatars now.

As am I it sounds like a lot of thought has gone into it. It almost feels like they've tried to go half racing game half RPG with the career mode. They needed to improve the system they had from last year as that fell way short given you could get all the upgrades before you were even half way through career. Hopefully this one does the job and I think it will.

It needs to cover 10 seasons so we'll find out in time whether it will. Jenny has said I think that there is going to be some more details explaining how this new skill tree system works so that will be good. It needs to be I think as I learned from experience that some RPG systems can be tricky to figure out without a proper explanation. Anyone who has played RPG games Like Star Wars Knights of the old Republic and Dragon Age Origins and the Witcher and the like will tell you they are not easy to figure out on your own.

I assumed as much besides 10 is a good number and it takes quite a bit of time to do all those sessions. It was more the system itself that was falling short not the career mode length. Had the career mode only been 5 seasons like the old games a system like what we had in 2016 would have probably been enough but considering it was twice that it was nowhere near.

20 races a year at 1 upgrade per race will mean you would be able to be fully outfitted in 5 seasons which is very good. I was already outfitted in season 2 with F1 2016

I heard in a video that to fully complete the R&D tree it will take about seven seasons.

I think it depend s on how successful you are and how quickly you earn your R&D points too though. Because if you fail to complet e a practice task within the time or whatever or don't do all of hem you won't earn as many R&D points .At least that's the case on 2016.

What does he mean by saying " you can't skip practice "?
You will have to do practice in career
You can probably still use the accelerated time option though if you really don't want to do a session and skip that way. That likely will still be in as that's been in since day 1.But with the practice programs and the expanded skill tree I wouldn't recommend it

'Retire from session.'

I know it has as things like this would have to be considering they are very complex. As I play a lot of games that have things like these in. I'm a big Dragon Age and Mass Effect fan and I've played numerous other RPG's as well  because RPG's use very similar systems. It also depends on how good and how many points you earn in the practice sessions and everything as well though. Because if you don't end up doing much in practice either because you failed to meet your target or the weather turns nasty or whatever you won' t earn as many points therefore won't be able to upgrade as quick.

Three things I still don't know are in the game

Are there red flags in the game?

Can you elect to start from the pitlane at the race start?

Is the weather system anything like F1 2012 with one half of the track wet the other half dry enough for slicks?

I think I read somewhere that red flags aren't in the game.

I don't think starting from the pitlane  is in the game but I could be wrong.

As for the weather I think they've said they've tried to make it more unpredictable but other than that I'm not sure.
